Contrary to popular belief insurance companies are not out to screw you, though it may seem like they are at times. The truth of the matter is they don't spend any time educating us, so we know how to better protect our gear and our businesses.

The only problem with the "Locked Door" coverage these days, is that most cars now have fully electronic RF remotes...Cloning these with frequency and code scanners these days is the most common way into a car for thieves, and this method leaves NO footprint of forced entry or foul play!! That being said, I agree Jared...DON'T LEAVE YOUR GEAR IN A CAR...TRUNK if you absolutely have to...and if you don't have a trunk (SUV, Truck, ETC.) THEN DON'T LEAVE YOUR GEAR IN A VEHICLE!!!!!

I added all of my equipment to MGV and went through the process to apply for a policy. I was denied because I don't make enough money as a photographer. WTF?? How about making it explicit that hobbyists are not included and/or including brokers via MGV who cover hobbyists? Also... the MGV database is a total mess. The search function needs to work better to avoid so many duplicates being created by users.

Wondering if you could put up a list of the various coverages in the policy (including any that might not have been mentioned in the video). I have started using MyGearVault and like it, but as a Canadian citizen, I can't get an insurance quote with you guys. I recognize I'm probably not your target for that part of the app and that will probably never be added, but I want coverage like this too - I have some limited business insurance through my homeowners policy by including a home office coverage which also covers me for general liability and for my gear, but I don't have E&O and likely don't have many of the other coverages mentioned. I don't want to get screwed down the road in the event I need these. TIA if you're able.

If I only have like 5000$ worth of equipment and only want equipment insurance what type of plans should I look at. It seems kind of pointless with a 500$ deductible, given I only travel with 2000$ worth at any time. On top of this, I’m not a professional. I mainly make music videos for myself and friends. What does he mean when he say? If anything does go wrong, you're more an likely going to be covered. Because I'm going through something with an Insurance Company right now. With a storage unit and my property was damaged. And they're doing everything in their power. Not to pay me for the property damage yet. I've been paying for insurance for 3 years. Great Video with lots of info!! Does this coverage include accidental damage for your camera and lenses. For ex, If a person was to drop their camera and the both the lens and body were damaged would that be covered.

Does it insure water camera equipment such as waterproof camera housings? Thats my biggest insurance issue with the fact I shoot surf and ocean photography I end up having to use dive ensurance which isnt cheap.

How fast can this policy/company write a rider cert for a location I need to rent. There are a few agencies here in Southern California. One company here can write a cert in an hour after I contact them during business hours. Another company you can't even reach them. Will this company respond back to the photographer or even answer their phones. Are they located back east? That is a big issue for me. Is the policy more expensive if the photographer shoots a small amount of video vs not shooting any video.

Hey there, great question. We have this option built right into the app as we speak. When you have insurance, there's a button that says "add certificate holder". When you click that you are given a prompt to add someone and if it's during regular working hours it could be done in a matter of minutes. The company is based out of New Jersey and we work on being as responsive as possible as I personally know how important it is to get quality customer service. There could be different prices if you shoot more video or more photos. But that's something that's looked at after the questioner is filled out. i hope that helped answer your questions.

My gear is just as important as I cant afford to just go out and replace any of lenses.
