ok i finally got out of class and am reading s4 and my point at which i would’ve been certain is at “only a fool argues with his doctor after all.” that would’ve been my oh my god this is really really happening. it is such a massive, reassuring wink at the audience in tjlc. gosh i am loving this so much

@@TJLCExplained I just personally had never even thought of the possibility of a reference to the pilot in s4! it erases doubts of the possibility that they changed their mind between the making of the pilot and s1, so i think that’s why it stands out to me! Also it works so well! it’s the perfect mixture of being “subtle” to viewers who don’t notice all the gay subtext, and very meaningful if you Know. it’s exactly the type of thing i feel like we would’ve seen if they had written the type of s4 we thought they planned. and the placing of the line is perfect because i think there would’ve been something reassuring like that very early on in the first episode. It is so so clever of you!!

I know I'm soo late to this. I didn't watch BBC Sherlock back when it aired, I wasn't in the fanbase back when TJLC was in its high, and I have definitely never read or watched anything sherlock related. The only context I had were tumblr screenshots and Sarah Z's video. After I saw your first episode of A Better Story, I started watching the show to understand your retrospective. I enjoyed both, though I admit I enjoyed the retrospective more. Media analysis is just more fun to me. I finished reading "From a Drop of Water" yesterday and I was floored and amazed by the story despite having just binged the show weeks earlier. I didn't expect to be so engaged. To put it in a sense, it was a story I didn't think I needed but I'm extremely glad to have read. I laughed at the references, Private Life and otherwise, that I could catch. I want to reread it again, this time with the playlists on, trying to decipher the meaning of each song as it relates to the story. I want to read all the sherlock stories and watch as many adaptations as I can. You've gotten me into a fandom I didn't think I'd ever get the hang on. I may be rambling a bit and maybe this is going nowhere, but I just want to say that you are an inspiration. And thank you for all the work you've done. -From a formerly non-sherlockian

How do you come to terms with the fact that Arthur Conan Doyle never meant for either of them to be gay? The writer has passed and can’t defend his work anymore. Sometimes it seems like you intent the original work to be gay too not just the BBC series version.
