St. Bonaventure’s College is partnering with an art collective called Men Who Paint for an exhibition as part of their Cross Canada Art Project.
The Saskatoon-based artists have been on a mission to capture the iconic and the isolated areas of this country on canvas for over 15 years, and their work has been displayed in galleries across Canada and abroad. The Men Who Paint are known for their vibrant, expressive and evocative paintings, which capture the essence of the Canadian landscape and the Canadian experience.
The exhibition is a fund-raiser for St. Bonaventure’s College, and will feature plein air paintings created during the group’s two week exploration of the province in May.
The historic school is thrilled to host the Men Who Paint group for their first-ever exhibition in Newfoundland.“We are delighted to be showcasing the work of Men Who Paint,” said Stephen Handrigan, President of the historic school. “Their work is stunning, and we know that visitors to the exhibition will be blown away by the beauty and power of their paintings.”
The Men Who Paint will travel to Gros Morne National Park, Twillingate, the Eastern coastline, and St. John’s.
The Men Who Paint exhibition will run June 2nd and 3rd, 2023, at the Peter Lewis Gallery, 5 Church Hill. The exhibition is free to the public, and all are welcome to attend.
