Really sorry to hear about the clown mate 🥺. Hope he pulls through. I was always worried about you having that in the tank. I really wanted one too but heard bad stories from LFS. Never heard of Zoa Pox before, hope they pull through. You’re doing the right thing taking them both out. This hobby can suck at times. Ive had my fair share. Don’t let it get you down mate, you’re tank is looking great 🙂

Thanks Neil, yeah it was a big risk and my lfs told me not to get it but i didnt listen and it backfired on me,

What your thoughts on anemones now ? I currently have a malu anemone.
@BeardedReef3 жыл бұрын
I'm fine with Anemones but I would advise anyone thinking of getting a tube anemone to think again, they are not suitable for small to medium aquariums, they need to be in huge aquariums and even then you still run a high risk
@kickassaz3 жыл бұрын
@@BeardedReef thanks. What's the care requirements like ? Lighting ?
@BeardedReef3 жыл бұрын
You need to feed them, I explain all the care requirements in detail in the video where I got the tube anemone mate, probably easier than me trying to type it all out
@kickassaz3 жыл бұрын
@@BeardedReef I'll take a look thank you. How many fish you going to put in your tank ?
@BeardedReef3 жыл бұрын
@@kickassaz I have the 2 clownfish, thats it pretty much maxed out, so no more for me, if I do it would be a tiny goby but that would really be the limit, my focus is on coral

My tank is about 2 months old and I still have nothing in it. I learned the hard way with new tanks to take it as slow as possible. Too much at once is no good. Patience is the number one key to successful reefing. I’ll be adding my first pair of black clowns to the tank this week... I will probably wait another few months to start adding corals
@BeardedReef3 жыл бұрын
My tank is now 6 months old, thanks for your comment tho!

New to this. Does cutting up the sick zoa do anything beneficial? It seems like now you would just have 3 pieces of sick Coral instead of one? Hope everything gets better!
@BeardedReef3 жыл бұрын
Hello, no it doesn't but my thinking was if I could separate the bad parts from the good and hopefully still save one orange 2 frags out of the 3, might loose all 3 but at least I have a small chance to save one

What a shame, keep us updated on the zoas, and what a pain with the tube anemone, it’s beautiful but deadly, I hope the clown makes it as well 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks mate, this was a while back, manage to save some of the zoa colony, the tube anemone is no longer with me, and the clown survived (just) and is doing well now! 👍

Since you can't buy the treatment in the UK look up using hydrogen peroxide to treat the zoa pox. I have done it in the past and it worked great.
@BeardedReef3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I have actually bought that since this video, ive got another video on the channel from where I done the hydrogen peroxide dip! As you say it works really well! I will be using it again! 👍

You've had a nightmare mate, I'm not sure if it will work but for most of my zoa issues my goto remedy is always Hydrogen Peroxide. I normally use a 3% solution and leave them in there for 2-3 mins

@@BeardedReef 🤣🤣 it's not as bad as you think, H2O2 is great for dipping corals
@PracticalReefer3 жыл бұрын
I used the exact same 3% @Nano Tank Reefer, 1 Zoa took a few days to reopen but all my Zoas and Mushrooms came through fine, but did just kill a 5-6 head Firework Clove Polyp frag doing the same 🙈 have you ever dipped Cloves?

Honestly your fish store should’ve have advised against a tube anemone in a 15g tank. Your new to the hobby they should have made you aware of this. I would give it back and get your money back with a new fish

To be fair they did, Ross said at the time he was warned not to buy it.

I mentioned in this video and the previous one where I got the tube nem several times that the shop did advise against me getting one! It was my choice!
