What!!! Haha during the last video I was thinking to myself how crazy it was that this build matches literally everything I always daydreamed about in my dream truck. First gen Tacoma, small turbo diesel, 4x4, 4 door… it’s even in green. Even down to the 3” lift 1” body lift. Blew my mind that someone else had the same dream so precisely matching the car I built in my head (never mind the skills and dedication to make it real 🤯). So last video I was daydreaming about owing that and imagined to myself, the first thing I’d do was get some TRD Tundra style rims IN BRONZE. Wild!!! You have impeccable taste Austin!! 😜Thanks for another dope video 🙏

Haha that’s crazy! Thank you man! Still need to decide on wheels but these will do for a while!

Great build again man! You inspired me to build a first gen up as well! I went with 16x8 0 Offset method 703’s in bronze with 285/75/16’s. It ended up rubbing on my framerail.. I wish I got -25mm offset. If I could get different wheels I’d get Revolution Race Wheels RRV-5 16x8 -25mm in dark bronze. Keep it up man!!
@johnpyle80272 жыл бұрын
OUTSTANDING outcome! Tire size, rim size and offset are perfect, no bologna skin tires thank God! lol There is a gal on here that did some things to a new bronco and she put gun metal blue wheels on it that were amazing. They might look good on this truck being dark green. I had 4 extended cab Rangers and they all had 33" BFGs on 16x8 to keep them under and stick out just enough, very similar to how the Toyota looks. That and I never had to replace wheel bearings. I noticed the Toyota has a two piece drive shaft. My Rangers were like that but with a carrier bearing. I took all that out and built 1 piece shafts for it. Zero vibration and stronger. Again, OUTSTANDING!

The truck looks great man. I have a 97 Tacoma and have enjoyed watching your Toyota builds. As for bronze wheels, I do have a less common option. I bought the Amazon brand Rock Trix wheels in black for my Wrangler and put them inside some 35’s and love the way they look. Definitely more affordable than Fuels, Black Rhino’s, etc. and less common so I don’t have to worry about pulling up to every other stop light with someone else having the same rims as me. Just a thought.

Methods, fifteen52, and kmc are about the best looking bronze wheels imo. Had method 305nv in bronze on a black jk and they looked pretty sick but I’m starting to like the 701s better with the larger spokes. Be damn careful with the socket when you put bronze on tho they scratched super easy. I needed up wrapping the socket with electrical tape.

Love this build. Im glad I watched all of it because it has changed my mind about the tdi swap in my Tacoma. I’ll probably go with my original plan and LS swap it. I just don’t have the knowledge you have with the tdi to comfortably take on the swap.

So awesome to see this truck come together man!! Absolutely perfect truck and beautiful!! I bet it's such a solid driver! Want to start building these and selling them off to those of us without your mad skills?? Haha... Looking forward to seeing the new custom bumpers! Careful of the weight though. Do you know if the new design you are going with are considering crash/crumpling factors? My family has been in the auto body business for decades and they call all the beefy bumpers out there "frame killers" since the bumpers are so stout and transfer the impact directly into the frame... just a thought.
@austinniemela2 жыл бұрын
I do try and keep that into consideration BUT when you add a winch to a bumper you kinda have to make it beefy!! Thank you!!

Awesome job, I wish I could see it in person! I have been in Seattle for the past 3 days and leaving back to California today. She is a beauty! Did you have any issues with "Taco lean" that some others have encountered with lifting and did you do a front diff drop for the cv boot angles? I don't remember if you did the ECGS bushing swap when you did the 4wd conversion. Anyway, I have been following this build since you started it and glad to see it done and running. Now just waiting for the cosmetic and bumper installations, you are going to have great daily driver! Now it's time for you and Devin to line them up and see which is faster.
