Ken Foree is always a treat to see in a movie, and Jeffrey Combs is a horror icon. This is one of the better Lovecraft adaptations for sure.

Great review. The Beyond is a favorite of mine. I never saw it as being like Frankenstein, but being a modern Lovecraft Horror. And it ends in typical Lovecraftian fashion as well, with the protagonist going INSANE! 🤣🤣

I mean, to be fair, it is adapted from a Lovecraft story, and, surprisingly, has a much bleaker ending than the original story.

I'm pretty sure he was making beef stew with dumplings. They are similar to biscuits but much more doughy, with a very unique texture. If you haven't had stew and dumplings I highly recommend it.

I grew up in Iowa and my dad and I would go Pheasant hunting in the morning and for dinner my mom would make Pheasant stew with cheese dumplings. So delicious!

I watched this by accident. I thought it was gonna be about sasquatches or wendigos, I don't know why. I was both pleasantly surprised and ngl a little disappointed there were no beasts. Memorable movie though.

Fellow T1 diabetic here: My guess is not too many, since it’s technically meat. I looked up the nutrition information for beef and pork brains, and the highest amount of carbs I found was 1.3 carbs for 3 ounces of pan-fried beef brain. However, most sources listed both beef and pork brain as having 0 carbs. My guess is that the 1.3 carbs probably came from other ingredients used in cooking the brain.

So, just re-read the original short story to compare, and not gonna lie, I kinda prefer the movie's story. Especially the ending. Like, both are great, but the ending of the movie is a lot darker. Now if only we actually got to see the creatures of the beyond in this movie.
