OK. Let me make this clear. I am not a brand loyalist and I think that Arctic Cat has quite literally changed snowmobiling forever. That being said [written], water weighs 8 lbs per gallon in its fluid state. Meaning you would have to have 4 or 5 gallons of water to get to their 30 to 40 pound weight addition, due to snow build up in the track. Snow at its most compacted form has an approximate 8:1 ratio to water. So, volumetrically that would be an equivalent 32 to 40 gallons of snow packed into the skid/track area. Literally, their claim is that your track will be hard-packed with snow and ours will remain completely empty. Come on guys. The design speaks for itself. If someone claiming sled head status looks at this design and doesn't say "Holy s***. I wanna ride that." He/she is not a sled head. Like I always say- that sled looks/is wonderfully unstable.

A genuine argument can be made that no more of these rails are being damaged (proportionately) then any other. The simple fact is that people want it to fail, and there is so much more attention on it vs other rails. The knuckle dragger immediate common sense is that "two must be better than one right?". It's simply that "we've never done it this way before", therefore it must be wrong. In light of this, the ones that I'm aware of are (mostly) all due to damages inflicted by the rider that would damage any other rail. Regarding this video, I for one would really appreciate a more unbiased view. I appreciate the high quality cinematography and filmmaking, but due to the increasing bias, I'm quickly loosing interest and taste for SnowTrax. Also, this machine doesn't simply wash out, it's due to rider error. The alpha takes about 1/4-3/4 throttle to easily do what other machines do, due to it's far superior traction. If you over throttle it on a side hill, and over ride it with body input (like almost all axys riders do), it will then wash out. Not a design or flaw with the machine, but rider error...

What rock are you living under? Not performing as planned.... they perform excellent. Riders love them. Sure you might have a few who don't like it as well but that's because of their riding style not because the sled won't do what they say. I don't believe rumors about not getting parts till June. As for weight, the rmk is definitely light but they have durability issues. Check out Hay Days. It's full of vendors that sell products to reinforce Polaris and ski doo sleds. Magazines and parts company's like Dennis Kirk and such have tons of products. Reinforce the tunnel, reinforce the bulk head, reinforce the running boards, reinforce the A- arms, ect, ect. Put all that stuff on to make it tough like a Cat and see if its still lighter. Not to mention the money you have to spend doing so. Then of course, if you stay on trail and stay away from bumps you'll be fine. Bottom line is the Alpha One performs great for what it was intended for.... powder riding!
