I don't think it's "dumb" I mean the only reason it might be to you is because your technically knowledgeable enough to be able to decifer each sled individually, but another person without that knowledge can only go based upon there previous experiences with this or that brand... Every year in New York State they have a shoot out test with dyno testing and grass drag runs. The two categories are out of the box and dealer prepped. Here’s an excerpt from a recent test: Not-So-Twin Turbos The Turbo class included two sleds this year - an Arctic Cat ZR 9000 Thundercat and a Ski-Doo Renegade 900 ACE Turbo. They are marketed to different classes of riders and fall in different power categories, so this isn’t exactly a fair fight, but it’s interesting to see the numbers for their own merit. Both had 137-inch tracks with 1.25-inch lugs. On the Dyno-Tech dyno, the lake-racer oriented Thundercat spun up an even 200 hp, while the trail cruiser Renegade 900 ACE Turbo logged 160 - putting it more in line with the 800-850 class. Obviously the TCat came in with the highest speed. In 600 and 1000 feet. As I said, traction is the issue.

@Luke Lester thanks for the reply. Early reports were that the Mach made more power than the 900t.... saying that it shouldn't be done may have been a bit obtuse.... as a Procross owner I would have liked to see the faster Sidewinder used..with being real world focused, a 200hp sled versus the 180hp sled seems meaningless unless they are both studded. I have yet to see an unstudded Thundercat in the States.

Is speedometers are that far off for Speed that should also calculate into putting more miles on than you really do that could really affect resale

Did the xrs feel much different than the Mach from when you drove it before?

The mach z trapped higher speeds in the original shootout on grass earlier this year an tbh trap speeds usually tell the proof although sonmany variable on snow. Just shows which has more potential. The rest is putting the power to the snow

Did you note the rpm at top speeds? I got 102 (gps) on my Renegade turbo R as well but it was at 7700, (8000 max). Since the primary on this sled doesn't come with clickers I say add clickers and retest.

I wouldn't expect anything less from snow trax when testing a Ski-Doo. Whenever a Ski-Doo gets beat, they perfrom the test utill the Ski-Doo wins or can post a closer result.

Idk why i watched this, i am NOT a speed demon. Lol i like cornering, carving and jumps. I was on the trail a few days ago, feeling like im going a little fast, and i look down to see im going 50mph as i let off the throttle. A 600 is plenty for me and sometimes too much 🤣

The little windshield on the Cat give an advantage on high speed cause the air dont hit the driver in chest , thats enough to slow you down by many mph , at those speed the air force is very high

@Michael Fortier Greetings Michael, I have not had the same experience as what you described. The TCats and Sidewinders both obviously have the same Yamaha 998 Turbo. These are the two sleds that Ive seen that absolutely require traction solutions, AKA studs. That’s if you really want to see what they’re capable of. I have seen numerous dyno tests and the level of horsepower and torque produced by the 998 turbo was astonishing in stock form. Most of the 998’s were kicking out north of 210, with the highest I’ve seen at 214. Chassis and suspension certainly plays a part, but you must have traction or you really won’t see a real difference. Many times I’ve seen the Sidewinder and TCat take out the very sleds you mentioned. That’s where both had the right traction set up. As I’ve mentioned, if you participated in a drag race for money, would you challenge a machine with 30+ more horsepower than yours? Would you? In the wend it’s about having fun. That’s for sure, but the debate continues.

Nothing gets your hair standing on your arms when you hear these sleds ripping by on camera, even more so in person!
