It was a great experience to have been there around both Elvis and J.D. and the Stamps and the Oakridge Boys at the same time . And to see the transition from Elvis to the Oak's by Richard Sterban . And we all knew there was something about the Oakridge Boys that was going to be a huge hit . I love this mucus we all call , Southern Gospel Music , From Elvis to the Oak's !

I love quartets so much. You have to have a great bass singer.

My first listen to Richard Sterban was when he sang King Jesus and Nobody wants to play rhythm guitar behind Jesus. What a great memory of some great harmony.

I love Richard. His voice sounds strong and during this interview. I remember trying to hit the low note on Elvira at about age 15. In his hay day Richard’s voice was second to none. Keep laying down the bottom end Richard and know so many bass singers have looked to you and you set the bar high.

Love this guy. We used to live not far from him in Hendersonville back in the 80's and 90's. Would see him twice at a boot store on Gallatin Road at Center Point. He is a really nice person who had always kept his personal life very private.

Awesome story!, Have always liked Richard & his bass voice, the best sounding bass voice in my opinion, & it's plenty low enough, J.D. Sumner is my all time favorite bass singer, seen the Oaks in concert 4 times, they put on an awesome show! All 4 of the Oaks are super nice men, I grew up liking bass singing & Richard had a big influence on my own voice, I'm no singer, lol, I wish I was, but I have a deep though, thanks to J.D. & Richard! 👍✌️

I always wondered what a duet between Richard Sterban and Melvin Franklin ( bass singer in the Temptations) would’ve been like.
