She could have easily gotten to her before she opened the window. For the matter, why didn't the mother grab a hammer and nail that window shut? Theory: At the end of Episode 1, Ethan is stuck inside the crashed RV while his Mom & Dad are talking outside. The Mom tells the Dad she can't leave "Thomas" inside the RV. The Dad reminds her their son's name is Ethan, not Thomas. I think this means they lost a son, Thomas. I also think this means Ethan is seeing Thomas, his dead brother, dressed in white outside his window. Or it's a monster who looks like Thomas.

Thank you for adding this because I forgot to mention it! The kid in white could be Ethan’s brother Thomas, but I know Victor used to see the kid in white as well. One of my theories is that the kid in white could also be from a much much earlier time, possibly one of the first original groups to get trapped there but who knows.

I think it will come back up later in another episode , but Julie hasn’t told her parents what she seen because the parents are busy making sure Ethan(the little brother) is ok because of his injury . He’s getting most of the attention from the parents , and I believe that’s the reason Julie chose Colony House because of the neglect of her parents , and also because Fatima and Boyd’s son make her comfortable

Jade seemed to discover the hideout of the monsters with that bunker, very clever of the show to give exciting information to both the audience and the naive new character. For anyone having issues with the first episode they explain what happens when you look the monsters in the eyes, so... 1) It's nothing Meagan could have done because children are easily enchanted by these creatures. 2) The Mom may have not known the window wasn't nailed down. Seems like the Husband was supposed to do it, but thought better of it. Now for arguments sake you could say the Mom should have stayed with the Daughter the entire night considering the Husband didn't make it home. This would be something out of the norm for that family and because of that she should have been on high alert.

Did anyone notice Julie's shirt says "Illusion" on it in the scene where she is tied up in the kitchen and is talking to Victor? That definitely suggests that not everything is as it seems in this town, perhaps that even the town itself is not a town. Julie wearing that shirt seems intentional by the writers, so good job there setting the scene for the first episode.

Just saw the first three episodes. Great review. Theory based on threads facts so far: chickens and cows show up as a means of nourishment. Have you ever seen the Twilight Zone- To Serve Man? If so you get my reference. The loop these people find themselves in is likened to a corralling of livestock. Have you ever read The Phantom Tollbooth? Milo is bored so he ends up with a tollbooth in his living room. This wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t bored. The family divorce mention and the angry sister (dies) context of two different characters plus the father son angst between the sheriff and son make me think you end up in this town when under stress or distraction from life events. The tree is symbolic of life’s roadblocks. The loop is how we keep going around in circles with no solution. Though, the idea someone can do the bidding of the creatures to possibly leave as noted in a scene makes me wonder if it’s just more trickery to get dinner by these creatures. Funny how they show up for innocent or easily tricked or influenced people. Anyone not smart enough to keep them at bay. Most vulnerable. Those who survive adapt to staying alive. Which also helps maintain a population of livestock, so to speak. The little girl being influenced plus the other facts noted about children being easily swayed by mind tricks might have to do with a child’s imagination is more easily manipulated. There’s a variety of points the imagination comes to life in demonstration. From the sister doing that scary story for her brother on the bus. The fiction books the family reads for the boy. The art of a a character who started here as a boy. (Spoiler alert) got this idea from your review of episode 4. I’ve heard speculation these could be aliens. American Horror Story last season had a vibe that makes me think food source. There’s a constant influx of people. Though 96 days is a long time for nothing to eat though. Referencing the sign. Based on the age of the longest residing resident this seems to be a long term herding of people, in my opinion. The tires being slashed by residents to save the lives of people by stopping them from looping before dark indícate not too many cars in town. I’d expect a LOT more vehicles if the longest resident grew up there since childhood. But, maybe they thought up that idea after a bunch of other people got eaten. Where are all the other vehicles of the other people who either died or wrecked. One idea is people age differently in this town. Faster. The whole tree moving thing makes me think of weird supernatural energy happens then it could have powers to age people. I need more deets (details) to theorize. Stephen King’s reference in the summary makes me reflect on him talking about writing. How he develops weird twists. The hints so soon early on and based on the horror and fiction I’ve been reading and watching in recent years working to write my own short stories think based on these few and some other hints this is some sort of ghoul. If we look up what a ghoul is there’s lots of different info. This could be a classic or newly defined ghoul. The fact a still human is being influenced to prep others to be eaten then set free, for a time at least, with the promise of going home seems to say the intelligence of the whole process. The 96 days between death makes me wonder where else id the food for the ghouls coming from. Someone in story mentions humans are being sport killed. How did these creatures become ghouls May not be the traditional legendary way. They seem to have some sort of mythic power. Reading about ghouls from this spelling, ghuls … these could have Jinn qualities. Like Genies. If you read the history of Jinns would see the potential. After reading other peoples theories in reference to the mystery boy and the teen on the porch that showed up ad a recognizable person to a new comer and considering the little girl says you don’t look like grandma … I think the little girl doesn’t remember what grandma looked like so the ghoul like jinn can’t mask up just manipúlate as an old lady. But, if these creatures can morph into what we see in our imagination then they will become it. The demon creature ghoul jinns that attack the dude in the box look like ghouls. To dine in people look as they truly are or so it appears. It’s like they appear as human long enough to lure the prey to trust them and boom. They smile because to humans this draws a person into confusion. They walk not run because it’s a form of fishing. They catch attention. Keep attention. Notice the people running to the porch were not chased. Notice the creatures on the porch were not aggressive. What’s the deal with you have to invite people into the house? Sort of vampire like. These things only eat you if you are focused on them. Distracted by reality. The talisman part doesn’t fit for me yet. But in certain faith beliefs like Jewish faith put a Mezuzah on their door. Or in times blood was put on the door to keep the spirit of death from entering. The fact there’s no Google for these folks or the limits of knowledge other then future reviews (spoiler alert) where the reverend tried to write the Bible by memory since none is there … Someone asked are they dead in another review … I think ghouls and jinns are a reference point to consider. But, in a Stephen King fashion a new twist on old lore invites other mythic theories. People note aliens in reviews, there’s enough earthly history of ghouls being cannibalistic monsters with mind f*ck qualities considered demon like my guess is this in some shape or form. Fantastic summary and review. It’ll be interesting to find out if anything I’m guessing is true in some way.

Story progression , the suspense, horror elements, dialogue & even the acting are all as solid as they can be so therefore I appreciate this show a lot more than I’m letting on. I just watched the season finale. The voice on the radio addressed Jim Matthews by name. Perhaps all these characters are just a simulation. Maybe it was the video game creator who answered the SOS from Jim Matthews. Could Jade be the avatar for the person writing the simulation? My top theories: 1. They are in Croatoan, the place were the real life lost colony of Roanoke went. Some weird mystical dimension were the desperate can live forever only by feeding upon those that get trapped with them; hence the monsters/vampires. Basically by some means some of them become monsters and feed on the rest. 2. They are on an alien spaceship 🤷‍♂️😂 3. It's a simulation...maybe... 🤔
