I lost my stepfather last night, he was only 67, a man who raised two sons who weren't his own, who never lifted his hand or shouted in anger, and never got involved in the drama between me and my mum or my own father. He lived by firm principles, taught me the importance of self-respect, and was a man of few words but so much wisdom. Born in India, lived in Kenya and came to England in the 70s, he had seen the very best and worst of humanity and always taught the common thread that linked us together was stronger than the differences that are used to tear us apart. This talk between generations has so much to teach others - positive vibrations.

Powerful video!!! As fathers we definitely have the key for guiding our children down the right path. I believe it’s about showing them the right road to channel that energy down, some children are very talented but we neglect those talents to follow mainstream beliefs such as “education”. If your son can play football then you support them 110%, take them to every training session and they won’t have time to be on road. The sad truth is as men we focus so hard on trying to provide that we neglect these things.

This was so powerful and healing - especially being from an immigrant background/ethnic minority. Talk to people from this era and they have so many stories and so much wisdom. It brings richness and healthy pride to know that you can be a success, and to know where we come from as sons and daughters of immigrants of ethnic minorities. The trials that they faced and how they managed to live - with strong values. The young ones coming up need to hear and see this to know they are not alone. To know where you are going you have to know where you have come from.

I always have conversations about how the absent father plays such a negative role in the hood. you literally hear it all the times, from podcasts to autobiographies. the troubled youth will always say “dad wasn’t around” started hanging around with the wrong people. as much as we want resources to help us, we got to take ACCOUNTABILITY by being responsible and good fathers/mothers or whatever it may be to help and protect our future generation, it’s nowhere near spoken about enough so large up for this interview, hopefully it gets through to many as unfortunately people want to point fingers elsewhere but the deep routed issue starts with parenting/role models to help guide young children and break the habit from generation to generation.
