I've seen this as far as tubing. I only knew of piggy back. But sometimes you want things to run uninterrupted so another machine is used. I also learn Mag is run alone. I had no idea you don't run it with LR. May be an issue of it being diluted not an actual interaction. I cannot wait to be done with my RN. I am looking at learning dialysis or Vents. A good specialty.

Working on my LPN/RPN right now in Canada and thinking about what work I want to get into when I graduate at the end of this year. Loved seeing all of the different certifications! (they have a lot of the same deals here, for either RPN or RN). It's really interesting hearing the differences between LTC and hospital especially since there is every possibility I might start in LTC.

Q: while going to different units, do they give you the worst assignment?

I don’t think so, but then again I really try not to even see it like that, I just get the job done BUT when I worked agency in LTC I do feel like they put us on “harder” units that maybe reg staff didn’t want. But again I didn’t really care, because I get it, we get paid more so they put us to work.

Great video! Currently rehab LPN going into LPN-ADN program this fall,also getting ready to start new position on Tele Neuro unit. Any tips for nervous LPN going into acute care for the 1st time?

We call it piggy backing lol

When we do a piggy back we use only one channel and only one bag is being used at a time, whereas with the y tubing both meds or solutions are running at same time.
