It does matter what we “call it,” b/c insurance companies will allow for some treatments for some diagnosis and not others. I’ve been through this game for decades!

I've given up ever finding help. That's no exaggeration. I've had refractory migraines for at least 10 years. It truly is a silent disease. I'm having at least 3 a week and lately it's increased. I am missing out on life. I have spent nonstop hours researching ways to help me. I ran across nerve decompression a few days ago. But finding someone that actually does it and accepts Medicare with supplemental has been proven to be a dead end. And the thing is, I'm on Medicare DISABILITY due to migraines. I lie in this bed some days and just wonder...why wont someone help me!!!???

consider yourself lucky, they will not even give me disability and I even had fusion on my neck they would not even give it to me for one year to recover! I wish 3 days per week is all I had, I have more like everyday at least some headache even the days I do not have much of a headache I feel sick all over I think the occiptal nerves are bundled and tight causing my whole body to go off kilter big time including horrible headaches almost daily. I am all alone and barley able to boil water for rice with canned chicken. I have about 15 minutes of activity each day I am so beyond sad and depressed. I can not read I can not watch tv, my attention span is gone. I have become completely disabled the past 4 months and have no idea what I am going to do at age 55 and I need more surgeries. Can anyone reach out and help me at all?

Where do you live? At all close to a major University?

I certainly understand what you’re saying! Essentially, no matter what you call it - it’s a migraine headache that drs or scientists have decided to categorize it by different medical terms. For purposes of describing this particular disorder, you’re 100% correct. My last diagnosis was occipital neuralgia and I’m seeing Dr. Lisa Grferer in NY this week. After 8 years of suffering from this condition, I’m ready to try surgery and for once get my life back! I don’t like the idea of going under the knife, but I’ve exhausted every conservative and non conservative treatment you can think of, and I’ve had mild improvements. However, not 100% recovery as of yet. I’m back in school studying acupuncture, and I know how to relieve my migraine and occipital nerves, but my goal is to figure out the technique that can possibly minimize this discomfort by at least 80% and gradually work towards the healing of that final stretch in order to prevent surgery. I may not have that formula today, but I’m inspired to figure it out and help many others to not experience the agony and debilitating symptoms of this condition. I completely believe in healing the body to its optimal potential if you have made the decision to heal! Do your research and find your drs whether alternative, conservative or western and all 3 combined if you will. Trust God, and work out the insurance after 😁 it’ll all work it for the goodness of those who trust in Him!

As I’ve been on this journey it seems that insurance companies dictate treatment from least costly to most.

II’ve been suffering with chronic migraines for 13 years. I get them daily, and I’ve tried every type of migraine medicine that. You can imagine. I even have used medical marijuana, but I wonder if I could get rid of them altogether. Am I a candidate for this, and where would I have to go? To a neurologist?

I get a stiff neck along with a headache every day right behind my left ear, when it comes on I can't turn my head left without extreme pain. Its rare to go a day without one, an this has been happening for 7 years. I have had Xrays, CT Scan an Chiropactor visits nothing has helped an also nothing diaganosed. I take 2-4 Excedrin every day to try an take the pain away, not sure what to do next.

Try every day! I have occipital neuralgia, do you have an idea how to treat it? All drs & pain management does nothing. They act like somethings wrong with me. I can’t sleep at night and the back of my head is never not in pain. My MRI is bad but no one will do anything. This has been 3 years and I’m so exhausted and hopeless for relief. The doctors did the same thing to me. Call it a headache, a migraine until finally a pain management dr told me it’s occipital neuralgia. My life is literally ruined. I can’t do anything without pain. I can’t see my kids my grandkids have fun nothing. It’s taken my life. I try not to cry bc crying makes the pain worse. I saw a neurologist in San Francisco and he told me it’s migraines I wanted to scream bc he just wanted to put me on more meds or Botox after I failed meds. I waited a year to see this dr I left crying bc I was sent there bc I was told there’s a surgery that can relieve occipital neuralgia. In California it’s impossible to get treatment and some of the things pain management suggests is down right scary. I don’t want them to mess up and make my condition worse. Can you explain, suggest anything?

It sounds like decompression surgery could fix things- it treats occipital neuralgia and migraines from the back of the neck very well. Discussing individual cases on Social Media is not something that we do, please call the office at 805-969-9004 and they can give you more information.

Does not work for Everyone. I had it all it did is slow it slower still still breaks through

It's a difference between headaches and migraines. If you're in a headache then it's something could be treated and goes away. Anything beyond that is migraine to a chronic migraine.

Migraine Surgery Specialty Center hi thanks for responding but I don’t respond good with injections or nerve blocks so would I still be a good candidate for surgery
@jodam011 Жыл бұрын
have you tried botox injections?, also find a neurosurgeon and neurologists to both agree nothing is helping you, your insurance should cover any out of network procedure. I am in nyc and I had 2 out of network surgeries and I get meds and botox injections. don't give up , annoy these people (insurance company) the same way the migraines annoy you
