So envious of today’s generation and the freedom from the 9-5 slavery to earn a pittance that has to be then paid to other people / corporations/ energy companies/ banks. Yeah we the younger generation have also our problems... You worked from 9 to 5?! Here we work from 9 to 6!!! That's plus 5 hours per week and plus 100 hours per month.... Let that sink in.... And over a 1000 hours per year. So when people in the North call us "Lazy".... I think it's the other way around! There's pros and cons to everything.... You might get some good things, and we get other good things. The older generation did their mistakes... And we're probably doing our mistakes as well. There's no "Total Freedom" because, in the end, freedom means responsibility! And Responsibility is not exactly free. It's another type of "dictatorship"... You can either pay for people to have your "concerns" or you take care of your "concerns". In the end it's a matter of choice and preference. This is not a lifestyle for everybody I think.... Some people like quiet and simple, other people like noise and complexity. Some people like concrete, others like branches and green. It's a matter of discovering what suits you really. I lived both in the city and country... And to this day I can't choose between them!

I think that’s what’s really has changed for the youth of today. Most work especially white collar jobs or tech jobs can take you anywhere where you can get an internet signal. Unfortunately, for people of my generation being blue collar workers in some of the most expensive places in USA, we can’t even afford a house of our own. And I hope that one day my kids could but it’s not looking that way. Unless they do as Maya has done and look for a a home elsewhere. My parents had a home at my kids age and unfortunately it’s difficult for newer generations to do the same unless they basically live at work. Work smarter not harder still stands true today. And the advice I give my children is follow your passions in life. Life is too short to have a job you hate.😊

I was sitting on my couch, 4:30 in the morning watching and think I heard you say " it looks so f***cking cute". I laughed so hard I almost spilled my coffee. Watching from the begining, it has enriched my life in so many ways. Hi Maya your roofed porch looks great , you have awesome friends, congratulations 🎉 just a little suggestion, I don’t know for how long the eucalyptus beam was drying but I would put a temporary support in the middle for 2 or 3 weeks until it’s fully dried to avoid warping , you are an awesome young woman.

I love a porch on a house. To be outside in the rain can be so cozy and useful. In Guatemala we have covered our front deck. I can dry my clothes in the rainy season better. And such a nice spot in the morning to eat some fruit and have a warm cup of coffee. I would paint the wall white. Posts and railing I would use a primary color. Blue or orange I think. The floor could have some deck paint and nothing more. It usually comes in light gray. We have two friends that have moved from Guatemala to Portugal. One couple is a German man and an Australian woman with their two children. They are just southeast of Porto. What a wonderful life you are making for yourself Maya. Growing up it was rare to see a woman working. So happy to see you embracing what you love.

Looks fabulous, well done team! I envisage Portuguese tiles in this space, vibrant colours! I see herbs hanging to dry under the roof come summer. Also some ceramic pots with flowers. It's just a magical space. I have a covered in decking, very like this.irs great for drying clothes, for keeping the outdoor footwear, for grandchildren playing on wet days, for plants and flowers. I love my space,I decorated it with bird boxes, hanging baskets, sun ☀️🌞 decor etc, paint it white,it will look absolutely stunning. Front porch entrance looks very good. The white wall vs the red roof pops. In time the rest of the wall and banisters. Depending onthe amount of rain run-off, gutters to run the water away from the property and stairs. Another cozy multi purpose area.

It looks amazing maya. Your Rendering wall skills are spot on. I would stick a few screws (so you can remove them) in the Second and last row of the tiles so the wind doesnt get under them and attach a bit of flashing above the top row to protect he wood and your doorway. Colour wise the Lime Wash white paint and red tiles really pop I would keep it going its traditional and Practical. You are a real inspiration, My wife and I look forward to you Videos every week. I love your videos. I'm Brazilian and I really enjoy following your renovation work. My favorite videos are the ones compiled over many months. You could make one every 5 months, or whenever you think is best. I would also love to see videos about your routine. I would like to see how you wash your clothes, where you shower, where you use the bathroom, how and where you cook and what you eat. I'll suggest applying a coat of white lime paint to the masonry under the roof and to the driveway facing wall. Regardless of the final color you choose, the effort won't be wasted. It will make a huge visual difference from the driveway. You can select and paint your final color at your convenience. You did a masterful job plastering the gable end wall. ✅

This will help keep the inside of your house clean. I say white for the wall and rails, not sure about the eucalyptis posts. For the floor, glazed terra cotta tiles are low maintenance and look good. Great job, Maya and friends!

It is a common practice in the American south to paint the roof of your porch blue so it kind of mimics the sky. That would be so gorgeous on your porch roof. That was great work you got done, by the way. And don’t think that all of your challenges went unnoticed, you just went on and finished anyway. Great work, Maya.

Now you have a roof to protect you when you come back from groceries shopping and not be wet while storage its I could really imagine a beautiful orcher color to keep the natural of the house and on each side of the door two beautiful exterior lamp vintage style to be less dangerous in dark hour may be solar lamp ! Some lovely hanging plants and perhaps some white painted flowers on the wall to tie into the white washed upper wall? Great to see you going forward step by step. The roof looks great. There exists little hooks with which you can secure every roof tile to the battons, you hammer them in the batton and click them around the tile. As there is no building under these roof tiles a strong wind could flip them off, as you put already stones on the end I think you are aware of that. Good luck it looks beautiful 🌷
