3:00 Thankfully this is one of the very few videos that gets it right; South Africa's Indians arrived in Cape Town as slaves long before Durban was established by the British. The Population Registration Act of 1950 initially defined Indians as being part of the Coloured population group. In 1961, Indians were officially classified as a separate population and the Aparthei-era Department of Indian Affairs was established with a white minister in charge. In the Western Cape in particular, many people of Indian descent with Indian surnames and having typical Indian features still contiue seeing themseles as part of the Coloured population group but also continue recognising and celebrating their own Indian heritage.

I am South African Indian. Living in Kwa Zulu Natal. But unfortunately we are completely forgotten. The economic boost mentioned from PM Modi is not felt by us. We have to work twice has hard for everything. The places built during Apartheid are now state owned, schools, universities and hospitals seldomly employee indians. The contribution made by Indian freedom fighters has been forgotten.

I am Mauritian i can tell you that in Mauritius citizens of indian origins are very open and mix with other communities on the island. More and more mixed marriage among mauritians .They speak creole thé national language,even à very few population speak indian dialect which is bhojpuri

Africans are in India centuries before Indians were brough to Africa as labourers by Britain. Africans known as 'SIDDI' are in India, come with Arabs around 700 CE These are Bantus of Southeast Africa. Few Africans came with the Portuguese and the British. Tens of thousands' on Nigerians have entered India recently.. Indians were brought to East Africa by Britain in 1895 to build railways Of the 32,000 workers 2,493 died in East Africa and 6,454 were severely injured. There are estmated150 million with Black African hereditary living out of Africa. Brazil has 91 million the highest number followed by USA with 47.9 million and not counting Black Africans in other countries worldwide.

This is a good group of Indians that live in Africa along with the other Non Indian Hindu Khumbars. It is not correct to say that Indians that live in Africa where always part of India. As the Indian Languages are spoken so vastly in Africa. And so it has no correlation to India as Africa was a major trading place for the past 5000 years. And many Indians may of moved to Africa or the Africans would of evolved to Indian type looking. Meaning that as the Indian languages are not national languages the people are African and not Indian. As to qualify African Indians as Indian full status they must qualify for OCI card. Many people especially Hindus named themselves in Africa after trying to make there own star syncretic community with Indian Hindus that live in India. And therefore African Indians or people that moved from African during the 1929 to 1975 movement are not really traceable to the Indian Hindu Khumbar Prajapati Kingdom or Heritage. I am happy that they have found there place in society. ⚡️🤴🏽🕉🔺➕

Mauritius Hindu. More should have been said about my country with a level of education non pareil. Thanks to descendants of indentured labourers focusing and investing in education. Mauritius is a democracy . Tiny . But everything ......water and electricity services. International communications services.......Road that are not dust roads. Mate, I don't know where you got your information.. But almost 80% of Indians in SA, are Hindus, then Muslim and Christians. There's not even 1% of Indians who are sikh. Theres about 1.5million Indians in SA, of which half of them are in the 2 largest townships in Durban.. Ie Chatsworth and Phoenix. And to add, Indians in SA feel extremely marginalised. We were prejudiced under apartheid and now also in democratic SA. Despite this, we are a resilient group and continue to thrive in SA.

@_LetsGo This is where you get things wrong. Mauritius is a hindu majority country but not a hindu country country. We have people of African descent who came before us, descendants of indentured labourers. It is a collective effort which was driven by education and awareness about the environment. Don't take the merit of other communities from them. There are Hindus also in India but they treat their country like a garbage bin. It is not about ethnicity but mentality. The Mauritian mentality. One which we are very proud of
