you wouldn’t be able to install the exact same one because uel headers for an n/a Impreza don’t come with an up pipe that come on the turbo models

Thinking on a cheap kit and eBay front mount for my 2003 Impreza, just as a fun build. Would it be easiwr, since I have a maf sensor, whereas you have a map sensor? The motor is a little worn out, and has a case of piston slap, so I don't expect it to last much longer.

It is the stock ecu with a maf sensor but I am in the process of open source tuning it now!

Did your cars subframe have that notched part that is found on turbo model cars, or were you able to get your uppipe past the subframe on the NA engine? I have seen people notch their subframes when they do the turbo installs, but I don't want to cut my subframe.

@@chixongarage no, I notched it myself and then reinforced it after the up pipe was installed. That was a BITCH to do, in hindsight I would have removed the cross member and just swapped it with a turbo one.

I mean, I would have just cut the rusted bolts off and replaced with stainless steel, instead of the cutting the pipe. Keeping the original flange and allowing for easy disassembly and install. But hey that's just me.

UEL Headers do NOT give you improved performance. It is in fact, the opposite whilst contributing to potential ringland failure. Which, in line with your other modifications is increasingly likely.

Kevin Welsh I have yet to see any definitive evidence that UEL headers contribute to ringland failure. The only things I know cause it are bad tunes for what mods are on it, lugging the engine. I talked to some guys from shops that tune and build a lot of Subaru’s and they all say the same thing. I’d like to know where you got your info from.

Uel are more restricted due to the one side being well, short and not allowing the gasses to escape as fast. Even length are objectively better than uel for making power those are just facts. Uel headers turn boxer engines into absolute heat sinks

@@YonkoPapa yeah man this is all true. I've realized this and this uel header has started leaking at the up pipe flex joint anyways so whenever I have to pull the engine to do head gaskets, I'm going to put equal length headers on it.
