Nice car! I have a stock 1983 280ZX. Don't care / don't want coil overs or any other "upgrades" that will make the ride worse. Do not care about track nonsense, horsepower or how fast I can take a corner. I like the car for cruising, not racing an idiot on the highway. I have replaced all most everything but with stock parts

When cutting up the rear fenders, did you have to weld the inner section to the front? It looks like you just cut it and grinded it down. I'm curious because im about to do this...
@PhantasmPhoton Жыл бұрын
my spindles weren't thaaaat bad. first make sure you have the bolt that goes into the notch removed. Put your penatrant in through that hole, let it sit. Hit the pin with a dead blow (dead blow is critical) or press it while you work the hinge back and fourth. Once you get it to move one way hit it the other way and keep applying penetrating oil. Once its gone back and fourth a few times it should come out at lot easier. when reinstalling start with a new part and maybe wire brush the hole out really good.
@TheCurbCut Жыл бұрын
Oh of course that mid bolt was removed. These pins were just as hard to remove on my own car. Any car that’s seen rust / has lived in the North East is likely to have this issue. (Hence why they make the tool! Haha) I’d count yourself lucky, my man! But good luck to anyone attempting this job - it’d be nice of it was always that easy!

What kind of bolts were used for the fender flares? Also the welting around them?

1/8 button head allen bolts - 1" and 1.5" assortments (rivets are typical / smaller but dont offer the same servicability)

Can you speak to why counting threads when adjusting the coil overs? Couldn’t you measure with calipers to get the same result? It seems like less prone to error, and less annoyance if someone starts talking to you when you’re in the middle of a count heh

Nissan literally sold the over fenders to the general public so they could have them homologated for the Nissan race cars. So it has a Nissan part number..... And that's what "stock" part means. Your just hating
