From Wikipedia 1957 DeSoto Adventurer
For 1957, the Adventurer received Chrysler's forward look design along with other divisional cars. A convertible also joined the two-door hardtop, and again color choices were limited to the black-white and gold color theme. The car debuted in December, 1956 as a hardtop,[2] and to rave reviews, foremost among them was Mechanix Illustrated Automobile Editor Tom McCahill who proclaimed the DeSoto as being the best styled of all of Chrysler's makes for 1957. A convertible debuted in February 1957.[2] Most Adventurers had dual headlights as a standard, which became available for DeSoto as an option mid-year.[2]
Like the 1956 car, the 1957 Adventurer was powered by Chrysler's high output V8, which was now up four cubic inches to 345 bhp (257 kW).[2] Equipped with dual four barrel carburetors, the engine developed one horsepower per cubic inch displacement. For 1957, 1,950 units were produced, including 300 convertibles.[2]

We used to call these 1956-59 DeSoto grand touring sports cruisers as the "Golden Adventurer" because they used gold paint and accents with either white, beige, or black color schemes. I have loved these amazingly awesome Exner cars since when I was a boy when they were new. I almost bought one of these in 1965, in Long Beach, Calif. when I had my 1957 Plymouth Belvedere 2-door hardtop.

Back in 1975-ish a dentist had one of these sitting in his yard and I was ready to buy it, even though the manifold for the two four-barrels was missing. Last minute, he decided to save it for his son, who might have interest in it one day. Never saw it again. Too bad. Thanks for the memories.

Ah, marriage...have to hide the things you like and want to do, and when pressed, your wife can't even be gracious enough to share your passions...just a patronizing "well, it's...interesting." Bachelorhood, please!
