He was calm. "I would rather die standing up than live on my knees"....I'd say he was very calm during that situation. Mind you, he was everything but useless. More successful, meaningful, and a historic key figure than any of your family line's past or future all put together. Che was an iconic figure and taught us about fortitude and has been demonized because he defended latin america against U.S. interests. Go fuck your self.

Bruno56 They tried, but U.S. policy assassinated their leaders and funded oligarchies to keep resources cheap for american companies. I am not saying this is bad for us, hell we get cheap coffee and levis. But of course it was not good for the true working class of latin america that revolted against their sell out governments. You should read more on latin history. Ignorance is not an excuse my friend.

What most people don't know, is how the Cuban Revolution was firstly against a dictator, who supported US cronyism. Then after the revolution it was the US, who acted so aggressive towards Cuba, denied even negotiations, and started to boycott them. Only then they turned to Russia, (who demanded they become communist in exchange for help) as they had nowhere else left to go.

as a cuban i can definitely tell you that's wrong. They never wanted Usa's help, Castro's whole thing was going against united states and capitalism since the beginning. He even took lands that belonged to "rich" people and gave it to the people, he knew what he was doing, it was all planned.

It sounds like the story of nicaragua. Let’s see how many will talk now like they think the know brainwashed by their governments quaterbacks, politicians, corporate leaders and propaganda advisors like Goebbels and the like. Che was he was who he was and weather you liked, like of what he stood for better say he virtually and literally fought for. At least he didn’t do the talk, he walked the walk. Did he do bad things?! Absolutely! Was he pushed to it? You decide that. Now I think I (we) need THE US to go to another land, country, civilization, culture, race and give them freedom! The one they didn’t asked for or knew they needed. To bring freedom (slavery) to another colony in the name of “good old white folks” and their economic interests (tantrums). Like a phedophile who gives toys or cool shoes to an unsuspecting little child who is barefooted and without shirt. He the phedophile would say: I’m really helping him!!! Yeah right!!!

@Red Baron There have been military regimes in Latin America for hundreds of years. During the Cold War, both sides fought proxy wars and propped up dictators. The West mostly, with a few notable exceptions, did it to stop the forced spread of communism and to prevent their stated goal of taking over the world. It's an easy choice in my book.
