Hey Lathrix, soon I was taking a trip to Florida to see my brother for several weeks, and he has a computer that can actually run From The Depths. :3 I've wanted to play it for so long and I tried on my computer but this little laptop almost had a stroke trying to run it. Anyway, I use to watch ireLAN Gaming do tutorials and explanations on how everything worked in the game, that is until he took a pretty LONG break from youtube. A lot of the information has kinda gone out of date and I didn't want to get into the game and get instantly lost, especially with the new AI and detection systems. I was wondering if you could make a little series where you explain the mechanics of the game. i.e., CRAM Cannons, Advanced Cannons, AI, missles, all that kinda stuff. It would REALLY help, not only me, but a lot of other people who are new or inexperienced in the game. PS, I am planning on rewatching ALL of your FTD videos XD Because... why not? If not, can you at least point me towards some information to read up on myself? (but please, for the sake of one of your loyal fan's sanity, pick the first option and let me be lazy

Lathrix My suggestions/request is simple 1 - Stick with long ranged small caliber rounds. They are amusing to watch hitting the target 2 - If you are going to mix up your rounds I request that you use the EMP technology in one of your turrets. 3 - If you are going to redesign your turrets I would not mind you omitting the belt fed loaders. Yes they are great for short one V one battles but that time has past. I want to see a laser turret but considering your craft's strengths and weaknesses I think that weapon is impossible.

the belt loader are good when you use them for a secondary gun system that needs only to defend a specific area and angle from the ship like as an aa gun for 1700m range. with that you get massiv fire power and you need them not constant.

I'd suggest capturing a large flyer and using it as an anti-shield vessel. That way you have specialized vehicles.

You could put red lasers in the wingtips; you have a lot of unused battery power from the RTG's and since particle cannons were introduced it has been a while since I have seen an offensive laser weapon. These could potentially drain every ounce of battery leaving none for thrust, but surely that is nothing that High Engineer Lathrix could not solve?

I think the logic behind the shields is that slow moving shells tend to be the heavier kinds. They slowly apply at LOT of weight into the shield where as small moving shells might hit harder but nearly instantly and can be deflected easier

Its more like If you belly flop onto Water from way high up, and are going really fast, that's a lot of energy, and you just stop. however if you go slower or are in a proper dive you wont slow down as much, and as such a greater incident velocity results in a higher/better deflection/refraction rate.

you should try HEAT shells. they are only really effective beyond certain size but they are good at cripeling ships and with inertial fuse they ho straight trough shields.

Be careful with explosive shells lathrix. ive been building a cruiser whos AA cannons use HE flak shells. Yea... when hit it detonate the entire front *or rear* half of the ship. BE CAREFUL WITH EXPLOSIVES! XD

You should build a rail cannon. replace the turret you have in the middle of the craft with a large rail. simply for sniping sourpusses so that you can fire off huge rail shots at enemies at range. now that you have hoards of enemies around. it would be very helpfull to be able to get a shell off aimed at their AI from like 5 miles away and maybe actually hit it.

That's the thing: railguns don't have a huge fire rate. It takes a massive array of chargers and rapid energy regeneration to get a decent fire rate. The recoil is horrible for flying aircraft. To hit at such a distance, you need a stable platform. Heck, even a dedicated battleship with a railgun has trouble aiming at those ranges.

I don't play FTD but I think I know a way to help with you running out of ammo. If you can delay one of the side turrets enough so it starts shooting when the other gun is about to run out of ammo, you would have a longer stream of bullets but the damage goes down a bit because your not shooting both at the same time. Idk if that's a thing but its just an idea.

This game lost it's luste tome because of how quickly overpowered any small-caliber AP weapon was. It's just due to the nature of the game: it doesn't matter if the bullet is a grain of sand, accelerate it fast enough and it will magically delete several metal beams in its path, instead of punching through and creating a tiny hole like it should. Drilling to AI is too easy.

why doesnt he use belt fead loaders then the stander ones that let him fire untell the belt feds are fully loaded again think i seen another guy do that sort of setup so he could keep fireing at a slower rate but still able to fire shells

Because I have very limited space - Less belt fed loaders simply means the fire rate would be lower for each swapped out, the burst damage is very very high right now, and considering normally battles are short and fights far between - This is the best way to go, If battles end up being more like in this video then perhaps sacrificing some firerate for consistency may be better.

How about using a particle cannon set to EMP damage? I find that for just knocking out shields, it can be quite useful in combination with other weapons. And they don't have to be very big or super powerful to contribute either. What's your thoughts on them?

I'm using 100mm shells as well with belt feeds, you just need enough belt feeders so that while some are live and shooting, others are reloading. my 5 barrel aaa uses 12 of them iirc and fires almost continuously
