"I think the Boss just got serious." "If that is the case, we'd better make sure these tanks do get away," Miles concluded as he closed the bonnet again. The engineers and mechanics had brought a portable datalink system with them. Thankfully, this was one of Miles' things; he was a pilot after all. He had to know avionics. Gotha, a lot of Gotha. The previous chassis were outfitted by a previous crew for this particular sortee on a night shift, and it was painfully brutal to watch. Gotha were cut apart in midair. What was worse, the tank crews were enjoying it. The Dustwind had become playthings to the company now. Lath had succeeded in militarizing. "Did you get a measurement of the shell power?" asked Deborah calmly. "Yeah, and it isn't pretty. Even if something is shielded, hit it in the right spot? No, there is no recovering from that." "Oh, bloody hell...A Tremor and bikes," cursed Deborah lowly. "That's a big target with big guns and many tiny annoyances." There wasn't much to fear though...The Tremor was absolutely massacred in the space of a few seconds. Metal ripping apart under the kiss of shells could distinctly be heard over the datalink. Copperheads were summarily sniped and shredded. "That was brutal...We created a monster," Deborah stated as plainly as possible. "Not just any monster, a modular one," corrected Miles as he quietly grabbed his toolbox. "We've got repairs to effect, let's get the rig. Fuel and repairs, the story of our life." A stray Gotha had gotten too close, and was summarily shredded. Then the Lightning Hoods showed up. Big attack, and the Dustwind showed up as well on another front. "This doesn't look good. That's a Lux Aeterna," Miles said quickly. "Come on, guys, get it together. Shoot that thing----Damn, that was a lucky shot." "Okay, okay...Let's get out there and repair the drones and skimmers and stuff before things get too hairy," Deborah said immediately as she jerked the rig's steering wheel. "We just ripped a Lux Aeterna apart. We got very lucky. We repair in the field." *Battle site* The half-track rig stopped suddenly at the site, with crews pouring in all directions. Drones, skimmers, tanks...It didn't matter. Sleds were pulled, torches were flared on. "Well, surprise, surprise, the chassis works. And we have a hero tank to christen," Miles said calmly. "I dub thee Sandshield." "Nah, I'd choose differently, but you are free to call it what you wish," Deborah retorted. "Repair first, naming after." This was just one battle, but thankfully, the repairs were quick enough to handle, a few hours. "Let's get the rig back to base, Deborah. I'll drive this time. You drive like a maniac." "You're one to talk. You fly dirty, all that pilot crap." "We have two Dustwind attacks coming; I'd rather be sure to get their with my skin intact, thank you very much," Miles said in finality. Tremor and bikes and a Gotha, again...The rig was steered into the battle site to witness the final result of this attack. Minor repairs compared to the mess at the other site. It was a busy day for the crew.

You should build a shotgun vehicle - have frag shells with a smallish cone angle that explode immediately upon leaving the barrel - you don't even have to have gunpowder to fire them :p PS. This does (of course) mean that firing the shells has no heat cooldown, so you could get close and pepper an enemy with thousands of frags just for the fun of it :p

Entry n°1: I am a lucky man born in the grace of the Flayed God and things have gone completely rye. As the war went on against the Steel Scums, the High Priest required all men to hand in their lives for the sake of the Flayed God, even military engineers like me. I used to be a man who believed in peace even if I knew the Flayed God watched my every move. As I received barely a day of training and was sent to crash a Martyr down to the Gypsies, I instead experienced what we Flayers call the Flayed God's Hesitation: I crashed my Martyr with my lack of sleep into a rock but the Flayed God gave me a second chance: my Martyr primed its nuke a tad too late. My squad then left me for dead and went on with their suicide mission. Here I was with a terrible headache, a broken severed leg and my barely alive body stuck in the remains of the Martyr on the brink of detonation as I could tell with the dim blinking light on the nuke indicating in was primed, in the middle of the desert, with no food or water to strive on. Movement was impossible without excruciating pain and I was certain to die with these odds. I tried in vain to detonate the nuke by knocking on it several times but the pain vowed me to a painful death by thirst. I had abandoned all hope of living and I then passed out. Waking up was hard but I seemingly teleported over to a moving truck, dragging scrap from what I assumed was the Martyr due to the paint of the Flayed God. I looked around to see a steel contraption which looked like my old leg, medical equipment and men who I first thought were Gypsies. I was tightly attached in place and only moans could escape my mouth. They struggled to explain my situation with a translation book but from their weird accents, they were mechanics and scavengers called the Terrans. Their truck came to a stop and dropped me and the remains of the Martyr as close as what I though was their land rig base ma-bob and went on their merry way. I had lost track of time but it seemed like days or weeks in a bed talking to one of the Terran's members: a woman of all things speaking my language and explaining how the Terran's Pothole worked. She was an old zealot like me and found the Terran scavengers akin to how I did, except with both her legs intact. When I finally was able to walk again, I started learning their language and started helping their gunslingers too but I still thanked the Flayed God for the second chance he gave me. They gave me a diary to keep track of their achievements and now here I am. *I am now part of the Terrans, helping build a munition factory at the moment and shaping their new Vulcans.* Harmohnter Fisihils, White Flayer engineer.

Lathland, the main drawback to tanks in warfare is the need for a resupply and maintenance fleet. Why not build a refuel, repair and rearm vehicle to follow them for when you need to continue the push? The tanks would be your iron fist and the maintenance vics the grease that keeps your gauntlets from rusting.

Make a variation of the tank with no weapon, but a lot of shields, smoke, and armor. I’m not sure how effective this would be, however you can have it act as a riot shield in front of your other units.

In the real world, you usually have tanks with one barrel. Some AA tanks would have two, and in extreme cases even eight barrels. Lathrix here has once again defined video game physics and has created a 26 barrelled tank! You should be proud

Hey Lathrix, if you want to test something else, my suggestion for shells: high kinetic damage hollow point, to complement the larger gauge in your tank setups. Hollow Point works like a thumper head, spreading all the damage across the surface it hits, ignoring armor stacking. Especially useful if you are concerned about ammunition explosions, because you don't need to use HE warheads. :)

I suggest this playthrough being that of dedicated vehicles and after seeing the LH battle it may be a good/neat idea to build a dedicated defense vehicle, something that is made to target only missiles and take them out, perhaps even small enough that the Tanks produce them in a battle like the turrets.

Lathrix! - How about, being scrappers in this campaign, making weapons that barely work, but are easily built in hordes? I think the whole idea of being a scrappers, and just throwing parts together and hoping it works, would be awesome, instead of having a pretty good weapon that's speacilized in chewing through certain types of armor. Scrappers aren't weapon designers, they throw parts together and hope it kills the enemy. Hope you see the idea!

If the 250mm HESH doesn't work as well later on in the campaign- Facing more dangerous enemies and such- I'd recommend making a super-tank-destroyer, resembling the Maus (Panzerkampfwagen VIII) prototype from WWII. It could work as a super slow, but super dangerous and heavily armored TD. The Maus had a 128mm main gun and a 75mm coaxial, which were really large for WWII tanks, considering that most WWII tanks only had a 7mm machinegun as their coaxial weapon. Of course, those would need to be much, much larger to work in FTD- Probably something like a 500mm Advanced Cannon or a CRAM Cannon for the primary, with the 250mm HESH still probably working as the coaxial. The Maus also had the most armor of any tank in human history, as far as I'm aware- Only in physical thickness, though, since composite armor on almost every tank past the 70's makes the armor more effective than the actual amount of metal used- so it could probably be coated in 2-3 laters of heavy metal armor.

Something you could do is move the turret above the mainframe. It would provide more protection but also make them easily killable if an enemy manages to destroy the turret. Course you could make the turret wider and flatter to maximize survivability.

The light weapon tank should be called the shredderaitor, it’s cannon was used to shred scrap into usable sizes, and it was installed into a heavyweight transport vehicle with some armor slapped on when war was declared

The dev really needs to nerf the Advanced Cannons in so many areas. I understand he wants to reward players for taking the time to learn a complicated weapon system, but it shouldn't unilaterally outclass every other weapon once you've mastered its intricacies. And heavy armor should be a lot tougher for its expense and weight. I mean really, CRAM cannons should still be relevant, they fill an important niche when they're not being outdone by other overpowered weapons.

@Lathland - For the color scheme I think it would be fun to paint your vehicles the colors of the enemies you are fighting, as you are scraping what you can and strapping it together and because of that you would just leave the colors of the metals and wood as it is and not waste time or resource on painting over it!

Hey Lathrix! I was hoping that maybe you could make a tank that uses a fixed direction cannon, maybe mounted off-center. Not every tank had a top-mounted turret after all. It's also something you don't mess with often, and I think it would be cool :) Perhaps even make it a railgun tank? It would be really interesting to see something like that among your forces. It wouldn't have much left-right-up-down, but I think it would make a good back line unit if you can avoid hitting yourself

Dear lathrix i suggest the name for the new tank base platform should be the T-237 armored assault vehicle or the T-237 aav for short the anti light armor variant being the T-237 eviscerater and the anti heavy armor being the T-237 Devastator

forgot the name, but i think squash head or something like that. a head that flattens on impact and gets all the kinetic damage into the hit block and the surrounding ones. very good against light armor and equipement(wings, sensors, barrels, etc.) since it doesnt overpenetrate and also damages the surrounding blocks. i personaly realy like them. ;)

I really think lath should just make a tank dedicated to taking down only the largest, more armored types of vehicles with a rail gun tank designed to do massive amounts of damage, trading off for a slower reload and movement speed.

I'd like to revise the names I proposed for the tank... now being TANKS with the new addition... I'd still suggest the symbol to be a rusty gear with cross-wrenches behind it. Cannon tank: Dune Bomber Gatling tank: Dune Grinder

I think you should make a anti-aircraft version with this with the ammunition timers or whatever they are called, and maybe up the fire rate a bit some how but lower the armor so you can maybe add one more rotating barrel? I'm not sure, I just came up with the idea so... if you find any mistakes with this idea I'm sure you can find a way to fix themLIKE THIS SO HE CAN SEE THIS, also because its a good idea in my opinion

A fitting name for the new weapon would be the hellcat since its also an SPAA (self propelled anti air) Also, you didn't test it against the flying squirrel lath 😐

Call the 36mm variant the Ontos (translated from greek: "thing", but named after the USMC's M50). Albeit your version is less hard hitting in immediate punch (the M50 carried 6x 106mm recoilless rifles in the turret), but has a better sustained engagement capacity (the M50's guns couldn't be reloaded from inside the vehicle, and it could only carry 3 reloads)

why aren't you capturing the bigger enemies? you can do that if they can't fight back right! you said that! you can capture them and then salvage em! you are scappers after all
