I agree with you mostly except the ult. Kay/o ult has to be revived by a player and makes them vulnerable also you don’t come with full health if they shoot you. While Phoenix ult you can just run into the enemies without any care in the world and mabye get some picks and you come back full health. Although Kay/o has that suppression it also reveals his position. So I think Phoenix ult is better for me.

@@phantom498 KAYO ult its still better cause the main purpose of it is to get intel/info and surpress the enemies , cause hes not a duelist. Both can get one tapped but with KAYO the supression still going and still give your team the advantages for 12 seconds (cause no util for enemies). Now imagine you Phoenix , you ult , entry flash and get one tapped. In just two second your teams advantage gone. Also picking KAYO is 90% better for comp cause you make room for another , better duelist like Raze and Jett.

phoenix is a victim in the change of design philosophy to valorant. Back when the game first started they made each character have more basic kits which helped the game flow a bit faster. Each ability was pretty basic with a few exceptions. Duelists in particular had very basic kits designed for a "do it yourself mentality". Over time the released characters changed the game to the point where teamwork is required. A jack of all trades is a master of none but always better then a master of one. This is true and in a 1v1 I struggle to find more then 4 characters better then phoenix. However valorant is a team game and 5 masters of 1 working together is evidently stronger then 5 masters of none by themselves. Everything phoenix has is outclassed by other characters. His flashes are matched or surpassed by yoru, kayo, and skye who all have unique and amazing flashes of their own. His wall has it's own character by the name of viper. His mollys are amazing for his character but lack the range of viper and brimstone who have been rocking lineups for what feels like years. Every part of his play is outclassed. Whether it be taking duels, getting info, or entry, he's outclassed. Design is now based around "Master of one" forcing players to coordinate for massive pushes and covering all the bases you can instead of "Wall then I flash". Unfortunate, I like playing phoenix but he needs more oomph to keep up in current meta. Edit: I didn't know discussing/debating design philosophy garnered likes

Maybe increase the damage and/or range of his molly, reduce the delay after his ult is killed or increase the time for it, or maybe even increase the speed in which he puts his wall/increase speed of flashes so it's more hard to avoid them.

This is the problem that fell into the League of Legends scene. The old heroes were not updated to the meta. They keep releasing heroes full of dashes and speedboost whatsoever while the old champs are "just like that". Every hero that the league releases now has a dash, while Udyr is still running on his knees lol.

buffing and reworking him might be in progress for a while now, but it takes quite some time. surveys, lots of testing, etc. especially they could not just randomly change how he literally uses his kit (or the animation) because those had been used to a lot of cinematics. i think riot is really being careful considering all of this stuff.

I would love to see phnx molly to last like brim molly and would love to see if that molly can be used as post plant lineup as well like viper and brim and phnx wall to last like neon wall in seconds .. and make the blind of phnx animation little faster.. I think that should do as to increase his pick rate... btw when I started playing phnx was the only agent no one instalocked so I fell in love with him and used it till I reach gold but after that I started playing other agents to rank up ....but still phnx is still love...

I think this, along with making his molly go far like brim, viper, or raze, and make his wall go further and last longer and boom he's back as one of the top characters. If you give him a 3rd flash on top of all that, he will easily compete with Jett as a top duelist. Edit: what also sucks is that you don't even have to die, you lose your shields anyway when the alt is over.

For me, he lacks a duelist mechanic, he should, for example, get a stim buff when he is in his molly or wall (not his team, only him) and if an ennemy goes in the molly or trough the wall they should be "on fire", the opposite of stim. It would allow him to enter site much more easely because of speed and fire rate boost and take better trades because the ennemies should be weaker. Also allow him to cancel the "back" of his ult, this should have been here since the beginning tho.

riot wouldnt just change the animations of phoenix skills, they are everywhere in cinematics. fun thoughts: maybe they could just do something about his current one like adding stim beacon while in his ult form or longer duration fire walls that can pass through the walls. or a simple slow when they walk through his walls or molotov. or very weird idea that they add a hp decay (like burn) status like a reverse heal just for a bit when they got hit by any of his flame even the agents are out of the aoe anymore that could be given to upcoming agents too

Phoenix's ult definitely needs to increase fire rate like Reyna's and Kayo's. Maybe even give him a slight overheal of 25-50 HP. The respawn point should be hidden also. Basically, make him an entry god. His flashes just need to be buffed and slightly reworked. The molly should be able to overheal and damage enemies faster, and the range needs to be way longer for defuse denial. His wall literally just needs to last longer and be able to go through walls.

Removing the fire thing wherever you spawn is the best thing they can do. Run it back should also give a full health instead of the one ur currently at. Faster fire rate and the ability to cancel it any time would make phoenix work again. Make the flame wall give nearsighted, and this character would go from the lowest pick rate, back to top 3.

He needs a full rework on his kit especially the flash and the wall. Im fine if they remove the molly but they should change that will help Phoenix entry. Something like Reyna's overheal as his signature ability which he will heal himself to max hp + armor in a certain time where he didn't receive damage. (maybe between 1-2 seconds and has duration of 10-15 seconds), he will still be in 100% capability if he won the first contact because he will heal in no time (of course the heal rate should be increased too. Much faster than Reyna if we go overboard, probably same rate as Reyna would be fine as well) I agree with your wall, it needs to be longer and last longer like Viper wall (but I think it would be too much, something like 15 seconds?) and be able to go through walls. The idea is to eliminate angles needs to check. The flash will be difficult to work on, they could make it like Yoru but that is unoriginal. Flash needs to pop faster, it doesn't blind himself and the pull out animation needs to be faster. The idea is that he will be able clear the site confidently without stopping. He will be wreaking havoc in the site and those who fight him alone will get dominated by his flash. If they choose to dodge the flash, Phoenix will most likely peek with it and they will die either way. The ult will be the same. It will last longer and he can cancel it anytime he wants. Like Reyna's ult, the gun's fire rate will increase (probably a bit over the top but he will also had speed boost like Brimstone. Honestly i dont think it is a necessary to add it, Brimstone can handle it) When I think about this, he will be able compete with Jett's entry. The difference is that Phoenix needs teammate's support in order to help him entry to site because if he entered the site safely, he will be deadly(much deadlier if the Phoenix has the aim) while Jett doesn't really need help that much because she can just smoke and dash into it and people will fire at her, thus revealing their location. The problem is that he will be really weak in info gathering and especially, site defense since he have little to none utilities to stall time for his teammates to rotate in which I think is fair.

Fire doesn't cut off immediately and damages you for a while even if you're out of the source. Similar physics can be applied to Phoenix where damage from his wall and molly continues for a while even if the enemy is outside the range of them. Similar mechanics can be applied to his healing as well.

Ways to buff Phoenix. 1) Run it Back: Remove the fire that's on the ground when he opens his Ult. Why? Cuz it doesn't exist in the trailers! Make him earn 10-20% of his life (if hp dropped) when he activates it. Decrease ult points needed by 1. (He's the undying guy after all...) 2) Fire wall: Able to cross walls like Neon's walls, and make it easier on turning the wall left and right. Heal: the same if not 1-2% better. 3) Flash: Make it as fast as Breach 's flash and make it appear in the last mili seconds. 4) Molly: LOL. His molly sucks. Heal stays the same. Just somehow as a Molotov or whatever it should be faster, and the animation of creating the fire should DEFINITELY change cuz it looks like he bakes some cakes LOL. Imo, one of the major factors to phoenix's death is kayo's introduction, and the buff to the anti-flashing when they made flashes behind your view flash you for like a frame, same with cs. Before, even if you turn your head from a flash, it will still flash you for like 0.5 seconds

How I would buff Phoenix: Curveball: Allow him to throw it in more than just a single way. Similarly to KAY/O but with an actual throw instead of a toss. Either way make it less predictable. I know people can finagle it into being less predictable, but that’s not how the ability is intended, and building that unpredictability into the ability would be a welcomed change imo. Flame Wall: Make it slightly longer, louder and do more damage and it’ll be perfect imo. Molly: Idk about this one. Molly’s don’t have huge viability other than denying plant, so i’m not even sure if making it like brims would help much. Either that or just rework it. Run it back: Simplest imo. Just remove the huge fiery splotch that tells everyone and their mom that’s where you popped the ult and decrease the delay after being killed in clone mode. Those are the two things holding it back from being a cracked ult imo. (btw i’m not a dev just a rando in yt comments so they’re prob not the best just my thoughts)

What I’d hate is for him to just become a stat stick. Like, if they just buffed the number of flashes he had or kills to refresh his fireball, that’d suck a lot. I feel like they gotta do something drastic, like significantly increasing the wall’s turn speed, maybe adding a pushback to his flames like in the cinematics, or maybe even his flames ignoring shield and reducing max health because of cauterization or something ridiculous like that. Something that makes him less of a generalist and gives him a role to lean into.

I know that people say his flash is terrible because everyone turns away but once you're skilled enough every flash can be turned away from. Besides, we can just do the xtr classic. He does need a bigger buff than a +0.2s flash time though.

Phoenix is the embodyment of a jack of all trades. He has no niche in game because the power in his kit is so spread out that agents who dedicate a majority of their power budget in a flash, into a smoke, into a aoe do those jobs better because they are specialize for completing that job the best rather than doing everything decently/slightly underwhelmingly.

Important thing about reworks, and this is a lesson that I know at least somebody at Riot remembers learning. You can't just hit him with a new kit and call it a day, from an average user standpoint if the kit is entirely new it could have just as easily been a whole new character. From the mains it means they have their character removed, while Pheonix might need some love to balance him, we can't forget that there's a lot of people that DO actually enjoy playing him. Big reworks alienate players that main the character, while also catering specifically to people that don't already play him. If it was just a pickrate thing I would just give a shrug, Pheonix's "issues" are centered on some actual balance issues that only really need to be tweaked. I knew Pheonix would only be the gateway drug for CS:GO players and they would move on once they found their stride, leaving him to be a somewhat obscure character. It's like if you had a character that had two flashbangs, a smoke and a molotov as their kit people would flock to them when they start the game, but they'd either go back to CS:GO or pick a more interesting character, Pheonix was only really a step beyond that, and at least he was interesting enough to have a playerbase. Who cares if the pros don't play him, people have to stop thinking that esports is the "pinnacle" of gameplay, reminds me of playing Veigar in LoL, got flamed because he was a "troll pick" and had nobody playing him in pro matches. A week later somebody dominated with him in a tournament and suddenly (without a buff) everybody was playing it after I literally got mass reported for doing it, they even later nerfed him. The reality is if you ignore what the pros are doing, you might find they aren't gods that know best, they're just players picking their preferences, and riot shouldn't worry about reworking a character just because the pros don't pick him. He's a "beginner" character, doesn't mean he isn't fun or great for veterans, he's just the CS:GO starter kit and we will always need one of those.

Buff Phoenix with.. Changing the ult icon so you can't see it. Used to be able to see yoru running around in his ult, now you can't. Hook it up for Phoenix the same way. His flash: make it quick like breachs flash and last longer and cheaper His wall: easier to control and damage to the enemies is higher. Like a viper wall there should be some "decay" affect to it that they could call it being burned. His molly: longer and more damage to the enemies. Also add in that he could heal teammates with a passive calling it friendly fire. What are your thoughts?

Rework the flash increase the control and duration of the wall and increase the heal and the speed of the heal for Phoenix molly to allow unique plays. Edit: his ult should have an ability to cancel and when he comes back from his ult maybe they could add a molly that spawns on him so people don't just knife him.

I really enjoy using him tbh, the reverse flashes are some great options, wall is meh, but the heals are nice as well as denial. I think a buff to him that could be cool is his ult no timer, just until he dies and make the respawn breakable like a chamber tp

Riot is kicking it's own knees. We knew that in League for a long time. New champs put old champs deep into shadows. In Valorant, it just took shorter than 100 champs. Simple as that.

Just like how r6 adding new operators making the older ones trash. Then patch and nerf or Buff till it's balance for a short period of time. Then add in another new operator and start the whole cycle again because money until majority quit the game when the game have too many characters. Too much complexity and heros ruins a hero shooter. His flash should be his signature ability that either has 1 charge and gains 1 charge on kill, or has 2 charges and gain 1 charge on 2 kills. Q would be a molly with 2 charges. C- they should make his wall longer and higher, and he should be able to heal just by standing close to the wall, no need to walk into the wall and put himself at complete timeout just to heal for like 20 hp. Also he should be able to recast C to bring the wall down earlier for catching enemies off guard. Ultimate should have a bit longer timer before running out, and kills during the ultimate would reset the ult timer. Also his ult return point shouldn't be visible, and he might even have like an effect where he doesn't use his Armor while in Ult, but instead would heal from gun shots he lands, so that he saves his armor after the ult ends. And at last, he should have an overshield for excess healing, just like Reyna.

Phoenix is still great it's just the other agents took his place, also his ult is weak cause the campers. If they made it so he had a fire ring around him when he respawned and gave him like extra health maybe 250 or 300 he would be a lot better that and a stronger flash and molly, his wall is pretty decent maybe longer ;P

It’s also the fact that movement duelists are much more efficient at entry, hitting someone while running at an incredible speed or literally flying to the bomb site is much harder than someone walking at you. Yeah you have flashes and smokes, but adding movement capabilities just makes it even harder to defend against and any agent can do basic entries, so characters that are straight up better phoenix is going to have the same ability to entry like him. He really needs a rework and some buffs like I agree that he should be able to cancel his ult without going back, but just having a good ultimate doesn’t change the fact that the rest of his kit are still out classed
