Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve just spent the night anchored in a gale. I’ll have a new video soon. All about that. I just wanted to say what it was like being at anchor in a storm basically it’s hard work and a bit scary at times. Thanks for being in the conversation don’t be a stranger, cheers Chris

I’m not too sure exactly what it is, but when someone is taking a trip/cruise on a vessel, it’s just great to look at the surroundings including the what the weather looks like and where they end up. I’m a person who likes being on the water.

Thanks for that. I’m inspired my people like magic carpet to make the videos more immersive and interesting. Takes time to improve though.

Hi Steve. Good to hear from you. From memory your in the UK. very late spring here but the sailing opportunities look good moving forward. Cheers Chris.

Thanks for another great video Chris, I tie the halyards off to the lifelines well away from the mast so they can't keep me up at night, not an original idea but it works. Maybe you could tie off to the chainplates as you don't appear to have lifelines and get the same result. Watchout for those swooping hammer drills!!

Great idea. There wasn’t much wind but I’ll need a better solution if there is.

Im a big fan of Roger Barnes but being a Victorian it great to find the Australian version. 👍
@SmallSailboatCruising2 ай бұрын
Now that’s a nice compliment. I also watch Roger. Love the historical richness of his locations. But we’ve got the natural rugged terrain. Love to stay in the conversation with you. I’ve set up Patreon so you get all my posts in the free tier. The other tiers are just for people that want to support making the videos.

A great production and interesting developing storyline. Like when you successfully hand captured the drone. Look forward to part 2 best wishes.

I truly appreciate your positive feedback! It means a lot to me. Stay tuned for part 2; I think you'll really enjoy it! I've been given some good hints for drone catching. that method works on the deck at home but not on a moving platform. Very stressful as I live and work on a shoestring. Wouldnt be easy to replace that.

@@SmallSailboatCruising i am still interested in your heads up of the cheaper drone. Just unsure how well it might suit being on a yacht. Best

I have just discovered your videos, and I’ll be with you from now on. Very nice and laid-back, you remind me of when I was sailing a trailable back in the eighties. Memories are all that I have left now.

Welcome to the team David. thanks for your encouraging comments. At 67 I make the most of what I have each and every day. as you never know what is around the corner.KZbin is a great way to reminisce and relive our youthful adventures.

Thanks Chris, i really enjoy your videos, there is a calmness about them that i enjoy. Regarding capturing the drone, I have seen another sailor fashion a short 'handle' out of rope and tape that is vertical underneath. This enabled them to catch the drone while underway.
@SmallSailboatCruising2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I'll play around with that idea. Im certain that would be a much better way to go about it.

Beautiful video, Chris, backed up by a lovely lady's singing. I see you are very trepidatious about flying your drone. The look you displayed after capturing it, turning it upside down, spoke volumes. Congratulations on mastering your fears. Regards Sarah.
@SmallSailboatCruising2 ай бұрын
Trepidatious? More like “drone-ervous”! But, if I can survive the upside-down moments, I think I can handle anything! Thanks for joining in the conversation. I hope to hear from you again Sarah

Good on you chris for using your boat and the river in the cool seaons. Bet you didnt see another boat on the move. Well at least upriver from beauty point. That early morning calm at Gravelly beach is wonderful.

Thanks😀😀 I saw one recreational speed boat. No heavy shipping. Only the Straitsman in the entire 3 days. Remarkable. Oh and I did see a converted cray boat head out into the strait.

It’s called Still waters. Based on the 23rd psalm. A favourite of mine. The artist is Marshall Mcferrin. I get it from artist.io with rights to use it on social media. Maybe you can find her in Spotify or elsewhere, not sure

It is a Volvo Md1. Last night it hi me, I had put an anode on the shaft inside. Just for checking the diameter. It was loose fitted and I forgot about it. Explains the death squeals. the smoke was just from crappy modern notched v-belts. I have traditional ones on order.

@SmallSailboatCruising2 ай бұрын
You’ll be pleased to know I’m looking for a replacement. Thinking about a yanmah 1gm. Any thoughts. ? I don’t usually run it at those revs it’s much happier pushing her along at 4.5 knots just above idle.
@q.e.d.91122 ай бұрын
@@SmallSailboatCruising As a general rule, I don’t really like single cylinder motors. Inherently less well balanced. Only a single power stroke per two revolutions so, for a given amount of power, a much bigger “thump”, occurring at a lower frequency. Think of your boat as a huge double-bass, how low would its natural frequency be? My experience with Yanmars has been confined to the 3cylinder, 25ish hp model which I found to be excellent.
@SmallSailboatCruising2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. So I might go for a 2 gm. Yanmah. Overpowered but just means you can idle along and limit the throttle?? The Volvo is 130 kg. The yanmah possibly half that and much more compact. Also easier to find. I’m very limited budget wise. Are yo in Australia? Where’s the best place to find one? Word of mouth at the yacht club might turn something up.

Sometimes you need another person around, especially when you dong the top of your head coz you can't see the damage. Great video.

Yes. The ladies assessment was a little bit extreme so I could have avoided a trip to emergency if I had the presence of mind to review the video in slow motion. It showed me I got hit by the battery not the star bit that would have caused me to see 🌟. I travelled 2000 km south to get away from the swooping magpies of Queensland having had similar results from them while riding my bike. ! Yikes. Cheers Chris
