The playing is next-level good !! But the tone of that Les Paul and the Matchless is beyond incredible. Starting at the beginning, first few seconds,..That guitar tone is better than anything on the planet,..which shifted on its axis right after that.

Not Bonamassas, it was Brian Ray's (with Paul McCartney). He's flipping it very quickly after purchasing it from the guy I, know in Copenhagen, who's mentioned in the video.

Although I've played Matchless amps for decades and have three currently , they're quite bright , designed for Strat-type pickups and don't give a Burst it's correct tone . A good Fender Tweed or a Marshall JTM gives my Burst it's best tone . Your video quality is first rate and few put the effort into the correct lighting to show case vintage items to their best . Well done !

Must be a regional thing, I never heard anyone call the pickups white. Most everyone I know calls them creams. I'm from the Motor City. It's a beautiful guitar however you describe it.

fine playing again..this one sounds more "open" and nasty than the 59
@andrewgarcia31362 жыл бұрын
Yup the 1960 guitars mostly had alnico V magnets. I've listened to enough late 50s Gibsons to notice that they got more aggressive year by year as Gibson changed magnets. Early humbucker guitars are more balanced and less in your face, the 59s are full bodied but brighter than earlier guitars, and the 60s are balls to the wall scooped out rock machines with screaming high end.

There is no way anyone can look at a guitar and judge by eye that there is enough fret material to allow another fret levelling?
@andrewgarcia31362 жыл бұрын
Yeah there is lol. I have two guitars I can tell don't have enough left for a level and crown job. They're both from the early 80s and have original frets and a lot of play hours, I couldn't guess how many hundreds of each guitar. Lots of wear. That's how you know it's a good one
