I told our new RNs and MAs to brace themselves for a LONG, BUSY Thanksgiving through end of March flu season! Pediatric azithromycin suspension is already in short supply! Yes, patients need "Urgent Care vs ER" education, but some of them just don't care. They don't want the long wait and the cost of the ER. We will take some quick vitals, slap on an EKG and send your a$$ to the ER!

It depends where you work. We have two providers to see 35 patients. When the numbers increase, they try to add more providers. Our sites that see over 100 pts/day have 5 providers. I probably work in an unique market where one company owns most of the urgent cares.

@@KendraRN Our NPs are doing great! They all had to start from new, and they actually care about the patients (as opposed to some MDs I work with). You have YEARS of experience to draw from. You can do it!!
