I love how obsessed you were over the highnotes in Attitude like yes THESE GIRLS CAN SING!!! Idk why they're never brought up in conversations about 4th gen vocals as if they don't have two of the best main vocalists, Jiwon & Hayoung plus very decent lead vocalists in Chaeyoung, Seoyeon & Nagyung as well as the other 3 girls that can hit a note or two (I specially love Jisun's deep low tone)

I realized many years ago that most people have an innate preference for male vs female vocals. For some, it could really be a 50/50 even preference but its rare. It became obvious to me because my preference is probably 90/10 female. Doing informal surveys around me, it seems most people lean one way or another, some stronger than others. And it doesn't seem gender-specific, you can have male/female who prefer female vocals and vice versa. Its a curious & fascinating thing. Younger people sometimes don't realize their preference yet but it becomes more obvious as you get older. Its not like I cannot appreciate male vocals, I still listen. And if I watch a live performance or musical, etc... I can like the male vocalist best. But only female vocalists can really make me "stan", to borrow a young person's term. And its a subconscious reaction

I relate to your take on boy group and girl groups so much. I used to be a very big boy groups enjoyer but the recent years the only ones who bring me joy are girls and it's for the same reason that you've described. Girl groups are basically what's holding me here now and I'm so happy to be in kpop now when there are so many great girl groups

It's no secret gay men grow up idolising and listening to divas and female artists etc whereas most straight men don't respect or pay attention to such artists out of fear of being perceived as gay lol.

"Attitude" -- it's the house/dance-pop beat for me. I agree, their vocals are decent. I'm not a fan of this group but this song highlights their vocal ability fairly well. "#menow" -- @9:30 now the moment you paused & explained your love for femininity and softness... I KNEW U WERE GONNA PAUSE IT haha. I can tell that we like different vibes lol I can respect that. Ironically, that's why I don't really vibe with their title track (mostly the choreo) because of the more girly moves. I tend to like girl groups with more "edgy" images and choreo -- and that's probably why I stan more boy groups because of the masculinity aspect in their music and dances that I really gravitate to. For me, similarly, I feel like there's a masculinity within me that latches onto masculine images/sounds/feelings in music. Like female idols with androgynistic styles like f(x)'s Amber or CPOP idols like Liu Yuxin omggg I admire them so much! I feel like they represent that inner expression that I feel like I could show or have inside of me as a woman so idk... I feel you. Thank you for saying that! I can relate to how you feel about the femininity aspect but flip-floped haha. I feel like bc of this, our music choices would be different haha, but that's OK. The great thing about music is that there's something for everyone... so many genres and concepts and feelings.

It’s crazy cos I was like you at the start of my K-pop journey but since stanning SNSD I feel as though female artists can do both well and often so I enjoy them more where as boy groups are starting to feel more one note! Love that you already knew where I was going to pause haha

Yes, I love the femininity, the gracefulness, the allure of these K-pop Asian girls. I'm not gay by the way -- and that is exactly why I love it. NOT because I identify with it, but because I'm a man who therefore is naturally irresistably drawn to my opposite -- to beautiful feminine women. Vive la difference... 🙂
