A Scottish man talking about dragons makes me happy thank you for the video man. I think the reason why the dragon God is so different is because it was actually dead and was revived using a demon soul which is why it looks like a demon dragon hybrid. This is my favorite breakdown of different types of "Dragons": 2 back legs, wings that double as front arms = Wyverns 4 Legs but no wings, stocky = Drake No wings, multiple limbs, snakelike but can fly = Long/Ryu 2 Huge wings, No legs, feathered = Quetzalcoatl 2 Front legs, no wings, snakelike body behind legs, can't fly = Lindwurm Bipedal and upright = Dragonoid Snakelike body with no limbs/wings = Wyrm 4 legs, 2 wings = Dragon
@The_Minds_Butterfly9 ай бұрын
To quote a article i found. "The simplest way is to count the number of limbs: A dragon has four limbs and two wings. A drake has four limbs and two wings. A wyvern has two limbs and two wings."
@BaWitda9 ай бұрын
An important thing about wyverns: The distinction between wyverns and dragons is not based on mythology. It originally came about from British Heraldry, and then was formalized in D&D when Gygax was looking for sources. If you look at medieval art, dragons often had two legs and two wings, or four legs and no wings, or pretty much any arrangement of wings and legs the artist liked. So if a modern setting has dragons with two legs and two wings, it's not really doing anything wrong (unless it's explicitly based on D&D). There's nothing wrong if they want to, D&D is absolutely a valid source of inspiration, but no setting is obligated to follow that definition.
@wingedflyingforce51398 ай бұрын
No, it came from old french standards adapted by the Normans into middle British heraldry and a BIT of British mythology outside of heraldry. D&D did NOT formalize it, but modern times formalized the usage of the word "Dragon" to mean anything we want to lazily apply it to. D&D had dragons like the og shadow dragon as a "wyvern" and og gold dragon depicted as a "lóng" which people who simply echo the cause without doing research don't usually know. Back then, those wyverns in art and heraldry were NOT directly translated as "dragon" as we do modernly. They were at best "draco" which back then was read as "large serpent". While dragon does DERIVED from draco & ancient Greek "drakón" the meaning of dragon at the time was more narrowed to the creature the British would adopt into things like British heraldry. Of course modernly in fiction no artist is wrong in what they call a "dragon" just like we can whatever we want a "unicorn" and it be right. No one ever follows d&d, nor uses d&d as a basis. And it's funny many who claim to play d&d don't actually know a lot about d&d which I find funny. Who says they aren't following said British heraldry? Plus sometimes when you want to emphasize something in your world, having dragon separated like it was from the other dragon beasts who already have their own name seems like the sane & logic choice to do, no?

But only if you’re coming from behind, if you kill all the enemies with a bow from door to the lower Undead, it’s attack is delayed a bit, you can manage to get to the stairs on the bridge before it attacks. I'd pick ekzykes for my worst dragon in Elden Ring. While there are a lot of cool thematic things about its design, its arena and the way it attacks . it loses a lot of points because you either melt it because you fight it when you've leveled up a ton, or its just unfun to fight. The worst part is the attack where it just breaths rot down and floods what feels like a square mile up with rot cloud. The tell for the attack is reletively easy to notice, but if you are under it when it starts, good luck getting out. If torrent decides to not want to do the running start, good luck getting out. It wouldnt be so bad if it A) Spread a little slower B) didnt spread as far, or C) didnt melt your healthbar on its own before afflicting the rot on you (Kinda like the valiant gargoyle poison). If you have any good fire/bleed attacks, he goes down pretty easily though, especially if you can get around his head being so high off the ground.

while technically you dont HAVE to use stealth, the Old Hero fight is much easier if you silence your character as he is blind and relies on hearing to guide his attacks.

Hopefully the DLC gives us more dragons and more information about Placidusax

I hate Midirs fight almost primarily because it feels like you’re supposed to fight it with friends. I’ve beaten him twice, once with summons on my first attempt, and the second by myself after several hours of attempts. When I had people with me he was really fun, this rampaging behemoth being taken on by a party and finally being put to rest after millennium of servitude. My second attempt was hell, his moves don’t feel fun, his range is awful, his constant jumping around was cancer inducing, the only part of him that takes decent damage being his head made positioning actual ass to pull off. I enjoyed 0 seconds of all of the attempts it took me to beat him the second time.

I bet shadow of the erdtree will give us an even better dragon than Plasidusax. Dont quote me but I would put money on it.

Placidusax is always such a fun fight for me.

A note on ds3 dragons in general, their heads are their weak points, which makes fighting them far more interesting, as it promotes fighting the dragon head on instead of just hacking the legs

Fuck me why is it I'm only now realizing how much I want to fight a mecha dragon in AC 6?

I remember before finding him, I had a grace named "dragonlord placidausax" and telelported to it, then without warning he just fell on my head 😂

I would have picked the first unnamed ancient dragon you fight at Farum Azula as the worst. For all the cool visuals and spectacle, the fight itself is a miserable one where it seems to have endless poise, it often keeps its head out of melee distance, and focusing on its legs really hinders your ability to anticipate its next attack because Fromsoft camera 😂

My guess is Placidusax cut off two of its own heads with his beam attack.

poor granny greyole She didn't even do anything to anyone, just wanted her kids to be safe from the rot and wound up being eaten by it herself. But at least her children made it out alive.

Honorable mention for nameless king's dragon from ds3? Definitely not one of the best dragons but it has a pretty unique look and I think it's cool as a first stage of a great boss fight.

I could probably Google it, but I want to hear it from the Candle's mouth, or, wick or something. What is a Candle Type 1a?
@candletype1a44710 ай бұрын
It's taken from the lyrics to a song called "Interstellar Boredom" from an awesome German metal band called Alkaloid! The song is part of a series of songs about building a Dyson Sphere, and I thought the term Candle Type 1a was extremely cool sounding when I heard it come up in the song. I think it's a type of supernova or somethin. Don't exactly know though haha

I'd still say Midir is the best, Placidusax is undoubtedly cool but he's easier and more tedious than Midir. His double laser attack looks scary but is easier to dodge than Midir's phase 2 super laser because the former has no aggressive tracking whereas the latter does. His entire phase 1 is kind of just an Espinas beat on him until he wakes up kind of thing which I don't think should be as long as it is. And then the constant downtime in phase 2 where placidusax is just in the sky or pretending to be a cloud just make the fight a little boring imo. I prefer the constant unyielding combat and aggression Midir puts up against you

Dark Souls 2 enjoyer here, hi! Your assessment of its Dragons is very close to my own. Couple things. Ancient Dragon isn’t a Dragon. Don’t ask me about the deepest lore. What I can tell you is, the King’s brother Aldia experimented on numerous living beings. Transforming them. Like, The Great Lord Freya was a spider he kept in a a cage in his study, until it grew up and broke out. The broken cage is still there. The Ancient Dragon is another such experiment, this time on a Giant. Ask yourself, why does it drop a Giant Soul, and not a Dragon one? That’s why. Lastly, from a gameplay perspective, my opinion on Sinh and Guardian Dragon flying more than is enjoyable, is probably a design decision that’s meant to lure the player into making mistakes. Giving you short windows to do damage might lead you to go all-in, and spam attacks, exhausting your stamina, and open for a counterattack. Enjoyment-wise, it’s a subjective one about the design. So I’m not saying you’re wrong. Just why I think it’s interesting. To be fair, Ancient Dragon is a dragon, in terms of this list, for sure. Just pointing out what might be fun lore to learn. Good video. Liked. Subbed.
