My favorites ER miniboss are the ones Who are in Horses mainly because the story behind It. See, FromSoft wanted to implement this kind of enemies since DS3, being a more dificult enemy than usual due to their high speed, in that moment they weren't able to program It as It was dificult to make one NPC stand over another. They tried to do that in Sekiro but rather on another way, as a same NPC , meaning that enemy wouldn't be able to be separated from his Horse. Of course, im talking about the first main Boss fight of the game, Gyobu. It wasn't until their open world game that they decided rather a stupid yet so simple and efficient solution; attach points. Some NPC would had attach points in order that other NPCs would be glued over them. That means that some enemies, could be able to ride enemies such as those pesky flying insects. Anyhow, you can see that some bosses on horseback used the same system as Gyobu (Erdtree Sentinels) and which bosses actually used the newer systems( Night Calvary). Some people may be in denial, but FromSoftware always wanted to implement new systems into their games, and the idea of some scrapped concepts that can come back later with more experience is something I love about game development.

Mounted enemies go farther back than DS3. BB has a cut knight on a horse, and in DS2 concept art you also have an unused knight/horse. If you wanna get technical the twin princes are a mounted enemy but they don’t separate past phase 2 lol
@JoseViktor409910 ай бұрын
@@waltersullivan2727 Of, interesting! I Heard about that but I wasn't sure if It was real. Seems that mounted enemies, on a similar fashion as the open world and wandering enemies, were things planned much earlier when they didn't have the resources/experience for doing so.

The reason the 7 ashina spears boss is so hard is that he's the first spear enemy in the game that doesn't get destroyed by mikiri counters, he makes it hard to perform one because of the delays and even if you manage to do it he doesn't give you an opening right after.

I couldn't agree more with your pick for the worst Dark Souls 1 miniboss. I have played DS1 base game and DLC to completion multiple times and DS2 SOTFS base game to completion, and the only enemy in DS1 with Shitboxes as bad as anything in DS2 are the titanite demons. I can perfectly time a dodge to avoid the swing, but if the pole touches me at any point after he's already attacked, I take massive counter damage even though he isn't attacking and I've stopped rolling. Sometimes, it won't even look like it hit me, and I'll take damage. I've been killed by the jumping attack because the tail touched me when I dodged forward to end up behind them, or they'll wind up for a hit, and I take damage from the wind up.

Grafted Scion: they have a few attacks you can punish somewhat reliably. Run in after their scream with a jumping light, the forth swing in their basic swipe combo is easy enough to score a parry on. when they do that stomping attack with all their blades that wraps up with a leap and slam, respond with your own jumping heavy. When they take the duelist stance, run their right side. to be clear, you will be going to the left side of the screen, and you can reliably dodge either of the attacks they come out with and punish with a few swings of your own. Still not terribly fun to fight. You never feel in control regardless of your combat style unless your able to nuke the damn things before they get close. and they get close gaps very fast, it feels, in part because you never have much space to work with when fighting these things. The one in Lenuria is something of an exception, but by the time the illusion disguise wears off, it's already on it's way to kick your shit in, and doesn't even have any rewards on it or nearby to make it worth the effort.
@fang422310 ай бұрын
all that being said, the damn lobsters, I hate those FAR more. Not much reason to fight them, but if they agro, they can easily snipe you for an unreasonable level of damage before you get out of range. if your on torrent, it'll dismount you too just to rub salt in the wound, leaving you forced to wait for the tarnished to get back up. Don't blame torrent for it though. I'd be startled too if I got a surprise enema power-wash.

That Sekiro spear guy's placement is dogshit though. The miniboss fight itself is great, might even agree on the best, but the amount of mobs you have to clear out to get to him is beyond irritating. The endgame spearman is by far the better version thanks to that. Also, the bulls are probably even worse than the headless. Consumable management a bit of a pain, but it at least adds something to the otherwise extremely monotonous optimal approach to fighting the headless consisting of simple hit and run. The bulls don't even have that, it's just hit and run lasting even longer than with the headless.
@TastyMeerkat10 ай бұрын
More I see of the Pursuer, more I wish it was clearly the same one. Even after taking his soul, he just mindlessly keeps pursuing, looking more and more weathered each time with maybe an additional attack on each encounter. Ending with an optional endgame boss fight if you beat him all previous times, now just this barely holding together husk of curse filled armor.

The drake in hieds actually is best to fight melee as you just sprint from the stair case to the legs. Then it can never fire breathe again besides it flying up, which you can stand on the edge of the arena to dodge without needing to worry. It can only stomp or try to bite *very slowly* and is a joke to kill early from this.

For me, i appreciate the fact that shichimen warrior and headless are optional. I've only ever beatem them once and that was when i was going for the platinum. So they are not a problem that much. With that mindset, my absolute worst miniboss in Sekiro is Blazing Bull. Especially due to the fact that it is mandatory no matter the playthrough. Thinking about the Bull sometimes literary stops me from doing another playthrough. It is annoying as hell and unlike most bosses and minibosses in the game, it is not fun to fight at all no matter the skill level.

I’m so glad that someone else hates the DS1 Titanite Demons as much as I do. In the past I’ve even googled “why the titanite demons are so bad” in hopes of finding Reddit posts supporting my views. Their impossible reach, janky, delayed attacks, their clipping through everything, their large HP bars, and the fact that hitting them doesn’t even give you a satisfying, impactful sound the way other enemies do in DS1, all contribute to them feeling just plain terrible to fight. I’d go as far as to say they’d be in my top 5 most annoying enemies in ALL of Souls.

THey are obnoxious, hyper aggressive and teleport around, but if you have any faith a heal spell demolishes them, as well as any non-holy spells..you'd think they'd be weak to that element. The grafted scions are annoying, but there are certain attacks that are easy enough to punish if you are patient.

It’s a great teaching moment for returning players and new players alike, showing you that there are some things in the open world that you are better off returning to with a little more levels under your belt. Plus it has the really cool shield that reflects magic, forcing casters to take a more imaginative or bold approach. That draconic bastard just shoots fireballs at me with his horse over and over and OVER AGAIN. Terrible AI in my experience, inconvenienced by that miniboss in every run

My personal pick for the worst titanite demon is that first one in the parish. They’re all annoying but that one is especially terrible because of the rubble all over the place messing with your rolls.

I mean, I believe the worst mini boss in dark souls one is the hellkite drake. At least the Titan night demons you can fight them. The hellkite mostly Insta kill you and just stay in the air spamming fire on a bridge. The Guardian dragon from dark souls two is just a hellkite in an actual arena and without the dash attack

You could expand this idea to non-souls games? Like maybe 3D Platformers like Hat in Time or Corn Kidz 64 Others souls-likes? Like Salt and Sancturary, Hollow Knight (debatable if that one even counts), Lies of P

What do you mean "grotesque nipples", my guy?! The Bloody Crow of Cainhurst is the toughest boss in any of the games, and he's not even a real boss... Thanks for another top tier video!

Good video! Hard disagree though with the Elden ring pick - I feel the grafted scion is a good miniboss as you are shown how scary this guy is at the start of the game - also Elden rings biggest problem imo is the amount of littering of copy paste bosses. My personal pick for worst miniboss has to be either Margit (surprise encounter outside leynedell) as it’s the exact same enemy again, I believe right next to that miniboss is an ulcerated tree spirit too, which is one of the ugliest moveset bosses in the game
