Love how he's tapping his foot on the beat so he can keep the syncopated piano rhythm going. Very subtle but adds a lot of motion to the performance. Beautiful rendition.

*trigger warning* I was locked up in a psych ward when this was first teased in 2007 after an unsuccessful suicide attempt. I was a big fan since the Bends and had seen them four times, (1995 for the Bends, 1998 for OK Computer twice, and 2001 for Kid A/Amnesiac) but I was so lost in drug addiction, ego, and misery, I wasn’t listening to music much. Despite being a musician myself. Sitting in the day room of that amazing psych facility, I never expected that was where I would discover probably my favorite Radiohead song. It made me feel in a way I hadn’t felt for a long, long time. Thank you Thom🖤🙏 (ANIMA and Daily Battles were also ... unbelievably good).

Thom’s music isn’t just normal music, using syncopated beats, complicated chord progressions and different time signatures. But this song, video tape encompasses only one of them. It is really (and I mean really) hard to stay in rhythm with syncopation. Thom uses his full brain to not mess up the beats and stay with the time signature. (PS: Syncopate is when the instrumentalist plays the song on his own rhythm rather than a typical time signature song which goes on the beat, syncopation goes on the feel and whatever speed the player chooses to go on, example: 4/4 beat, like pyramid song, where the player goes on his own pace but is still within the time signature of 4/4. Usually songs play on the upbeat or the downbeat, but syncopation keeps on majorly the player’s feel) I might have made some mistakes sorry, I’m not really good at explanation but this is a synopsis.
