Great show! Always love hearing what other growers are doing even if I have no interest in their practices. Not telling me what I should do, but telling me what you do. I’m smart enough to use that info to my benefit 😊

Funny. I stripped my girls down today. Removed more than I left . People always trip on how much I take them back. But in 2 weeks they always say "damn they look amazing now." Most people are scared to cut ✂️ them back I leave only sites I want a nugs at. I leave about 6 to 10 inches of canopy right before I flip the lights. But I also FiMed and top all my plants first so I have multiple shoots and a close to level canopy before I flip. If one is too tall, cut it down to a level top. I seem to always get better yeilds, more uniform nugs, and it's less work at the end. There is another way I look at extreme pruning, the root zone is now huge and your plant doesn't have all that mass to keep alive. Just the spots you want. So it super charges those spots. I have done this for 20 plus years now

@snowliferwb hell yeah man. the more we take the more we make 💯. If you haven't tried this yet give it a go: the results most closely resemble topping. If you constantly remove the top two large fan leaves the expose the growth below the plant naturally bushes as if it were topped. Take it further by pinching and bending the top over a week before flower and you'd swear it WAS topped. The time and energy I save on pruning now is crazy

I had an old friend a long time ago who taught me to cut almost everything back. I start 2 weeks before flipping. It took me a while to get comfortable, but I noticed the buds got wet bigger, denser, and just all out better. Every garden I see on KZbin has way too many leaves. Once you try it, you will never go back.

@@Prometheuss.cannabis.corner it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who is aggressive about pruning. I just chopped a plant yesterday that was all flower and sugar leaves. The buds are hard and sticky and smell amazing.

I'm going to switch things up when I flip to flower next time. Rather than stripping the bottom 1/3 of everything, I'm going to strip all bud sites on the bottom 2/3, and all leaves on the bottom half. I want to focus all energy to colas and avoid all larf. I think it's going to work out solid.

Like Kyle kushman does, then wait +- a week for the recovery of the plant and flip to 12/12, be aware that they could be a little more stretchy

A few strains don't need this but most would benefit from it. We had a reserva privada OG kush that didn't need any of that. the lower buds were plenty Frosty but really minimal as that particular plant really focused it's energy on main colas naturally.

I myself being a very green grower . I have decided to do as little as possible , being I've only had 2 complete grows under my belt . I.e. I'm using terp tea top dressing and I'm chosen to go with micro dosages sure I have to feed more but I've learned to read my plant and know when she's hungry or if I'm lacking somewhere else still plenty to lear and that's why I check in almost every episode! Love the live meets , just like our ladies grow everyday as a person and as a grower.

Welcome to one of the greatest hobbies in human history. Do you prune, defoliate, or train your plants? Lots of new growers are afraid to trim off the lowers; highly recommended. No larf no lerf no schwiss. The tops get way more bigger than what gets pruned off would turn into.

I got a CLOUDFORGE T7 from Ac infinity months ago and tried using the probe that detects temp and humidity and thought it did not work. It did work with the smart controller hooked up just fine so I contacted ac infinity about it and they sent me a brand new CLOUDFORGE T7 . I checked out the new unit to see if the probe worked and at first I thought it didn't so I pushed the probe in a little harder and presto it worked fine which made me think maybe the other unit also just needed the probe pushed in more forcefully so I tried the unit I thought didn't work and it turned out that it did work and I just wasn't pushing the probe in hard enough. So now I have 2 CLOUDFORGE T7's and both work and I feel bad because I got the second one at no cost. So now I plan on contacting them when I get some money saved and offer to pay for the unit I got for free. I feel like such a idiot and a turd.

The original fan leaves that grow before the bud sight starts are the ones you can completely remove. It’s a single fan leave and after the bud sights start to appear you will see two more fan leaves and you can remove 1 of those depending on which one is blocking the most light. Always leave one secondary fan leave. My opinion

I remove leaf and branch when it is nessasary. Nessasary choices come about after I filter through factors such as: grow space, cultivar, and light strength.

As far as i understand when you do a heavy defol your pulling nitrogen out of the plant while causing it to stress. Which increases trichome production and higher thc numbers. But when your pulling all that nitrogen out you have to be careful not to get to low on calicum or you start getting bud rot. flushing makes it a lot more likely to get those issues occurring especially if your defoling late in flower. Flushing the plant breaks the cell walls causing it to have a lot of issues

LST could be as well the kushman chiropractic method, by rotating the branches along their entire length, holding them with two hands close to each other, until you hear a breaking noise but without damaging the plant, you can increase the passage of sap from each branch and get as a result giant buds

YO guys! Love the content and may have some insight here. I work at a commercial grow( canna nutes/rockwool) and also grow in a 2x4 with 5 gallons organic mr canucks style. At work we do a HARD leaf strip once in veg and twice in flower(D21 also strip lowers and D42). The plants do bounce back quick especially if they are really healthy plants. At home I leave a lot more leaves on but still strip pretty hard on the day 21 and sometimes on day 42 its nice to strip some more to keep humidity down and prevent bud-rot and PM, so it depends on a lot of factors and just do what's best for your grow.

I clean up underneath a week after transplanting from 3-5 when flipping to flower. I let them recover a day or two then clean them out underneath. After the transplant and cleanup they’ll need one feeding in flower. They fade after I stop feeding somewhere around week six. After that I alternate bloom booster and molasses and let the leaves yellow. I check them and pick them off when I can push down on them and they break off. I’m new at this since last fall but I’m producing sweet sticky buds with few if any leaves by chop time. By the time they’re ready to chop the PPM of the runoff is only a couple hundred. I chopped a Trainwreck auto yesterday that was all Bud and sugar leaves. The other tent has an orange sherbert ff photo in final week (this is a seven week flowering strain) in a 3x3 with five big buds that small and look amazing. Now I will be watering a couple more times while watching the trichomes. Finishing two more and taking a couple months off and starting all over. This channel covers the more technical side of growing and has benefitted my grows. I am doing well so I’m pretty selective about making changes at this point. Small grow so each plant is gets spoiled.
@StanMNdirt

PS, I do some cleanup in veg as well. Fact is I don't go by any kind of hard and fast schedule. If a plant needs some TLC I give them attention regardless of where they are in their grow cycle.

Says in the bible that if you prune your plants they will produce 3 times more... the plant knows it has a caretaker! Not science but history has some growing lessons as well! I lollipop one time and continually deleaf as needed,... more productions is obvious compared to letting the plant grow without pruning! lol

17:08 the patrick swazy technique does not produce huge nugs, commercial growers use this technique to grow one thick nug and minimize the amount of leaf per square foot maxing out the amount of bud per square foot. yield per plant is less but per square foot the yield is maxed out do to higher plant count. If your scrogging their is no way to justify a high stress defoliation technique.
@carlosm6759
@carlosm6759 4 ай бұрын
To play devils advocate: @P420 when you strip the fan leafs the plant isn’t just going to magically stop photosynthesis, nugs still have leaves; also do the nugs itself play part in photosynthesis or do they not play a part at all? That being said when I defol I do it based off how much help I will need RH% wise during dry plus head start on trim. ❤ the content brodies

I don't defoliate till before harvest. I do lollipop outside because of dew and chances of p.m. Indoor I do low stress training. The plant is shaped so it don't need much of a lollipop. I keep it low no more than 12 inches. And vegetation starts right at the larf line of the light. To start the stretch. Anything below good light is removed. I am kind with Rob on this one. I grow big cola's indoors. Almost size of 40 oz bottles.

Now I could be completely wrong 😑 buttttt I think the major major defoliation traps 🪤 a ton of new leaves inside and around new bud sites and can’t break through to get out so they just stuck inside the new growth and it looks like buds buds in reality it’s still growing leaves 🍃 just not visible anymore my opinion on the heavy heavy heavy defoliation

Hit the hammer on the nail 😂 I had a big bush last run it was a polyploid mutant from Humboldt seeds and my third run , I had to defoliate ever two weeks heavily all the way through due to humidity spiking due to the mass of foliage, it went crazy but it definitely hampered my end yield having to defoliate so much in flower but still quality flower 6oz of one plant 17 weeks , but I think i should have stripped it back more earlier , but defo gonna try what Rob said and what pigeons done on his test run on his channel strip them back loads de noding too like Kyle Kushman said on Chris’s show worth a test see what happens if the plants happy enough before , good show this one 👌🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💨☮️

Personally I defo & lollipop before switch, then again around 3 weeks ..but after that I bend mostly and let the plant cannabilize its leaves , sometimes I move certain leaves blocking budspots but it's not like I ever strip her completely until ripening phase- then all fans are pulled if she hasn't eaten them herself by then. Never had a yield, potency or density issue. Timing is everything & dialing in your environment etc I check brix alot.. try to learn what they like & when & then steer them , push them & see what they can do. Then again I use tria, chitosan oligosaccharide, brassinosteroids & harpin proteins amongst other natty "helpers"... occasional rhizo-bacteria predigested bio teas are amazing btw ❤ and top dress and it kinda just prays the whole cycle... in the beginning it's hard but after 10 yrs you kinda explore all options and styles. Really into teas & bacteria building for certain stages like types of nitrogen solubilizing bacteria strains for veg & more phosphorus & potassium solubilizing bacteria strains focused on flower. Used to be big on K & Si solubilizing bacteria strains but use mono & ortho silicic acid currently. I even make my own lactobacillus strains & 2 purple non sulfur bacteria strains. Try to make certain cultures from mothers and then use those for timed teas during select stages of veg , preflower, bloom & ripening. We've come a long way since bottle feeding them 😂

Our summer in Southwestern Ontario is not too bad. I start from seed because I think tap roots are critical so I grow outside. We can do four plants here which outdoors you can get 4 pounds per cycle plus or minus. I start seeds on April 1. I transplant outdoors on June 1. The days get short below 14 hours in August to start flower. The commercial guys rush to get their crop early but I prefer to stage my harvest as each section ripens. If we are doing Haze then it doesn’t get chopped until October but most varieties are done end of September to Oct 15 or so.
