Love the videos you do. Learnt so much. Avid sea angler myself and also fish the Suffolk and Norfolk coast but being from Wales just fish the Autumn and Winter months for the Cod and Whiting. But obviously this coastline has much more to offer and I will definately be trying for the other available species that you have made me aware of. Cheers Chris and the crew. Be lucky and tightlines. All the best for the future.

Hi Nige Phillips thanks for the kind comments and for taking the time to post them, glad you enjoyed the video too! I know what you mean, I used to be the same... it was all about the Autumn/Winter fishing for Codling etc but my fishing has completely changed, for me I know enjoy the Spring and Summer fishing more... thats when I get the time/chance to go! Thanks again, hope your fishing is going well. Be lucky and of course... tight lines! Cheers Chris

Hey mate...hello from the USA. Great videos as always. Question: what kind of line-to-line knot do you use when tying your main line to your shock leader? I've never heard you address this before. Thanks...
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV9 жыл бұрын
Hi Levon de Carlo thanks for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video! :-) I know we haven't done any video's on knots... perhaps it's something we could look at though. I'm 'knot' (Haha... excuse the pun!) sure if the knot I use has a name, but if you google 'Shock Leader Knots' it should come up. You created a loop with the heaviest line and pass the weaker line through it, before wrapping it round 5-6 times and them forming a loop before passing it back through. Probably sounds a little complicated, but it's not too bad, just takes a bit of practice. :-)

Really enjoy your videos. Your calm mannor and good explanation of rigs/baits/tactics make for great watching. My bro and I are off for a long weekend at the beggining of May, trying various marks around Norfolk and Suffolk. After watching this vid we'll be hoping for a smoothy or two. From your experience fishing around here do you think they will be turning up around then? I know some forams suggest they will but nothing compares to genuine local knowledge! Cheers for all the great vids.

Thanks for the kind comments mate, they're very much appreciated and mean alot. Nice to hear you've enjoyed the videos and found some of them useful! If you're coming up in May there's the chance of a Smoothound and Bass, they start to appear from around that sort of time. The only slight negative this year, is the 'beast from the east' has put everything a little bit behind!

Hi +Dave Cousins no worries at all, glad you enjoyed the video and the style of them. To be completely honest I'm not very familiar with that area, I was relying on Justin and his contacts! No worries +Fish OnLine glad you enjoyed it! That particular beach is very, very shallow - 6ft or less probably 200-300 yards out! I'm not a great caster and have never measured it, so wouldn't like to say. Tight lines and happy fishing to you too. :-)

No worries guys,we have excactly the same species where I live here in South Australia,we catch them using similar methods off the beaches,all of ours seem to be Starrys.Just for the record the australian record is 23.9 kilograms,just shy of 50lb,at that weight it would be around 6 foot long.20 to 30 lbers are quite common,unfortunately they are commercially targeted,as they probably are in many places throughout the world,we personally release all of ours,the larger specimens are always big breeding females and conservation is strongly encouraged by us recreational fisherman.Cheers.

good vids guys why isn't it good to fish in a light east wind
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV9 жыл бұрын
Thanks +Conor Cox glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for taking the time to comment! Where we live in Norfolk an Easterly wind is right off the sea, meaning its often very rough, so no good for species who prefer calmer waters - Smoothound and Rays etc Also as someone once said to me when I was a boy... 'when the winds in the east, the fish bite least!' Haha. Cheers Chris.

Hi +Conor Cox you can catch fish in any conditions, sometimes things look spot on and you don't catch and then other times things don't look as good and you do catch. Theres no guaranteed formula, certain venues and area's fish different to others too. You've got to be in it, to win it, as they say! :-)

good vid but there is just one thing that I feel needs to be mentioned about the handling of sharks. They should never be lifted and held by the tail as it does a lot of damage to their abdoman. That 16lb smoothound shown more than likely died. There is a good guide to handling sharks here: www.sharktrust.org/en/shark_handling_guide although its aimed at boat fishing the same things apply to shore fishing as well

The lesser and greater spotted dog fish have some pretty good teeth but they are only a few mm long at best buy a big doggy can do u some damage Smoothounds have crushing pads and a big one will nip but that's about it tbh Tope have a proper set of teeth but are pretty small tbh however I seen them do some serious damage to a hand and the guy nearly lost two fingers but the fish let him go
