Hey Joe, I always look forward to your videos. I'm glad you went with Mopar OEM. And that is one fancy creeper, I have the Crapstman one. I'll have to look into yours... I was successful in changing all those fluids November '20, and you're right it's pretty straight forward. I also did all those several days apart. I did the same as you... tightened till it "felt" right and drove away. No issues. Good job!

I'm glad you enjoy these videos man. It's nice to get feedback. I always worry I'm gonna miss a step and destroy something. That creeper has out performed my expectations, that's for sure 😆

I’m so glad you’re using 75w-85. Literally all the other videos I have watched just throw in 75w-90 & say it’s the correct fluid. It’s not in all cases. I’m sure some of the videos I watched, they used the wrong fluid. Aside from that, I guess there’s a 80w-90 or something for Dana Splicer Max tow rear Axle. Does anyone know how you identify if you have that ? My Drive shaft says Dana Splicer on it, is that one way of identifying whether I need that fluid or not ?

I use krown on a 2014 Ram . Basically the same .Zero rust from day one. Under carriage looks brand new .

Thank you for the information. I'll definitely check it out. 🤘

Good video sir, I would recommend putting the LSD additive before filling it up with fluid (as the owner manual mention on my 2019 ram, thats will make a better spread of the additive

Good advice. Thank you for the kind words. 🤘

If look in he user manual it actually calls for 5 oz of limited slip. Which molar sells in 4oz bottles. I ended up using. Royal purple gear oil which doesn’t require limited slip additives.

You also clearly live where it snows and they use a ton of salt. Fluid film/woolwax is your friend. I’ve got a 2015 ram that’s been up here in the salt since new and has zero undercarriage rust. Like absolutely none, it’ll also stop the rust that’s starting.

I'll definitely be looking into that. It's been on my mind, just wasn't sure exactly what to do/ use. Thank you. 🤘

You're definitely welcome. Good luck on your brakes. I just had my first experience with a brake job. It wasn't too bad. I'm sure my videos won't be complete by the time you do yours. Let me know how it goes. 🤘

Nope. Just the rear according to the manual.

I was told to use 5oz of the limited slip additive. I thought it was weird that they were in 4 oz bottles and bought 2. Guess I will have that extra ounce for my next 4 changes.
@notamechanic1532 жыл бұрын
That's weird dude. The dealership told me that bottle was exactly the right amount so that's what I went with.

A couple of questions... How many quarts of fluid did you get from the front diff? It looks like 2, but I wanted to confirm. Also, I see that you used the transfer fluid marked pre-2016 in your 2016. Did that cause any issues? Thanks for the great video!
@notamechanic1533 жыл бұрын
I believe these truck came with 3 different transfer cases. On the back of the transfer case, to the left of the plugs there'll be a number. Take that number with you to the dealership so they can match up your fluid. Mine is a 2016, maybe it was built in 15 with a mix of parts. Not really sure to be honest.

I'll have to see what I have left from my second quart. I believe I used a little over 1 quart. Probably a ¼ of the second quart.
@SRT__6182 жыл бұрын
What did you use for the transfer case fluid and how much ?

I would imagine if you pull the drain plug off first, then pull the refill plug, the oil shouldn’t come out as fast. Good video.
@notamechanic1533 жыл бұрын
Good point. What I was trying to avoid is getting the fluid drained then finding out the fill plug won't come out. That'd be a shitty situation.

And people tell me I should just pay my money and let the dealership do stuff like that. You know they would’ve put their least experienced lacky on a job like that and he would’ve put the wrong stuff in like they gave you.

Yeah dude, it's crazy. They'll charge you out the ass to change this simple shit too.

I found this link for the torque specs on the front diff. Plugs. But i do agree with you when you stated go snug, then slightly past it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGa4XnWsmKiNhJIsi=A8t3HRsG1hITgpQD

I found this link for the torque specs on the rear diff. drain plug. kzbin.info/www/bejne/paTXgqyfg9WYrcksi=VqM_YsKPh04yLRhX He states 52 ft.-lbs At the 1:45 second mark
