Back in the 80s when my friends and I were drinking and drugging and trying to live the metal lifestyle we ran into Stryper on several occasions at parties and backstage at clubs and I have to say these guys held true to their faith every step of the way ! you never saw them doing drugs or picking up on chicks for the night! I’ll never forget one night they were playing at Universal Amphitheater in LA. Of course me and my friends were doing Coke but after seeing Stryper with leatherwolf opening up for them my buddy and I actually felt totally convicted and we threw away the Coke that we had left and as anybody who knows that never happens .....unless the Holy Spirit is involved!......My friends and I who have since become saved and are followers of Jesus still talk about that night! I remember on several occasions Stryper actually throwing small Bibles out into the audience instead of drumsticks and pics nice touch guys!

I'd never admit outside of my immediate family but To Hell with the Devil probably saved my life. I was into some dark metal and depressed and there was a girl, of course, and she was giving me problems..I was not doing well. But I heard that first song...The Abyss...and then To Hell with the Devil came on and it kicked me in the face. I was hooked. I started going to church and found my faith and I have had it ever since. Stryper is awesome.

I have been listening to these guys since their 2nd album, it was 1985 for me and I was a little Christian headbanger in the 5th grade. I am now 47 yrs old. These guys were my outlet from the 1980’s music that glorified drinking, partying, and sex. Their songs pointed out towards God and I was blessed by their lyrics and music. I know most people mainstream rock made fun of them... but those where the ones who honestly never heard a Stryper song, the guitars, drums, and rhythms. Nope, those people were just going off of what the next guy said. Besides, where are all those “80’s bands” today? Stryper is still plowing it with songs that point to Christ and love for others. This song reminds me of what I listened to back as a kid and adolescent.

I totally agree with you jssmith2028! I have listened to Stryper since 1984, their first album, yellow and black attack. Wow, 40 years! And yes, where's the other 80's metal bands today? I have watched alot of those, where are they now videos of the other bands from the Stryper era and see why they're not around today. Drugs, alcohol, fighting, dangerous activities and death has taken it's toll on them. It's so sad to see and hear about the addictions, physical injuries, mental health and death that the other bands have gone through. I can't help but to feel sad and have sympathy for them.

With God's blessings, Michael Sweet's singing voice is now seasoned and (imho) sounds better (in various ways, as demonstrated in the more recent albums in the 2000's until present) in comparison to his younger singing voice in the 1980s. Michael Sweet and his singing voice and guitar playing (as are the other Stryper band members and their musical abilities) are all blessings from God and not taken for granted. We are thankful to God for all, and we appreciate each one of the Stryper brothers in Christ--as a band together, and individually. Keeping them (and their families/fans) in prayers during their 2023 Tour. 🙏✝🎵🎶

OverKill, Death Angel, Testament and Exodus have been putting out some really good stuff. Accept, Saxon and Priest(Firepower) have been releasing some of the best stuff of their careers. Diamond Head's two latest albums are easily the best since their debut. Satan did something that's highly improbable with the three records released since their comeback. Each one is if not better then on par with their classic debut. Also Cannibal Corpse has been pretty solid for the past 20 years. So, there are others too. Representing different genres of old school metal but each band is going on really strong. Not that it takes anything away from Stryper's achievements. It's just great when a band is able to keep the bar high in studio surroundings and as well with their live performances. Sadly these guys won't be around forever so get the music and go out to see them when it's possible again. Support the bands and the music you love.

That few seconds were Michael, standing there in a somber manner tapping during the solo, makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I could feel what he was trying to articulate. No words needed.

“Do Unto Others” We all have questions Many concerns Simple frustrations Respect is what we yearn We are offended Easily on cue Often unfriended Without a single clue If we could step back To see what matters We would call off the attack Break the hate And watch it shatter (Chorus) Do Unto Others as you would Have them do unto you Often its a thought misunderstood But one we must pursue This life is too short To waste a day And worry about The games we often play Look to the future It’s shining bright It’s really not hard To choose what we know is right It’s simple choices We make alone If we would think of each other Maybe we would heal Not suffer (Chorus) Do Unto Others as you would Have them do unto you Often its a thought misunderstood But one we must pursue

Stryper has always been one of my favorite bands for over 30 years. I was very fortunate to see the original line up and meet both Micheal and Robert who were so down to earth and wonderful to talk to. This song is great and his vocals still are amazing the whole band is. Perry is a great addition to the band and the video has a beautiful message as so does the song keep rocking my brothers and hope to see you live again one day

When I was drinking and drugging, Stryper made an impact on my life. Did they save me? No. Only Jesus did that, but without their influence. Who knows. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

I heard about Stryper in 1987 living in Venezuela after I saw and recorded a Calling on you vídeo on national tv only music video tv show in the country on Friday nights. I got The THWTD album, translated the lyrics into Spanish and started looking for bible verses- God prepared my heart to understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ and when I did hear it- I was ready to accept Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross for me, repented from my sins and started following Christ. Started a band almost a decade after and tried to be an instrument for God to bring others to the kingdom of Christ. Greetings from Canadá.

Michael Sweet. One of the few rock singers from 80s bands that sounds exactly like he did 36 years ago. The man hasn't lost his range or timbre. It's like hearing what I heard at 13 years old. Unbelievable.
@jhaj4574 жыл бұрын
I disagree. His voice is not as clean and high pitched anymore as in the eighties and his screams are less agressive. To scream nowadays he has to pick his battles. Michael admitted so himself in different interviews. His voice is just different now, not less. Just different.

Been a Stryper fan since I was 16 when I first saw them at the Orange Packing House (Church) Redlands CA. They ROCKED that place and the Yellow and Black lit that place up along with their music!! But I have to say this album is by far the best Album they have produced. Every song on it is one you just absolutely love and you think OK well there is no way topping that one, and then you listen to the next one and you do the same... So there is no go to song on this album that you can say Yeah, this is the best one on this album... I can not wait to see them in concert and take my 10 year old son so he can enjoy them the way I did way back in the day in Redlands CA at the Orange Packing house. And Please pray for OZ!!!

The test of a person's true character is when you're an atheist and still live by principles such as this. Not out of a desire for a heavenly reward, or fear of going to hell, which you don't believe in, but because it is the right thing to do... because it's your nature.

Magnum opus. As far as I am concerned, this is Stryper’s best album ever. Every song is diverse & catchy in its own way. In the words of Kip Winger: “Can’t Get Enuff!” 10/10. Five stars.

I come from an pretty strong atheist background, my parents were both punk.. myself, having done as good as everything God forbid for most of my adult life, finally got saved 2 years ago. Many if the bands and music i used to listen to (metal, punk, hiphop etc) i don’t anymore. I'm really excited that i found Stryper recently so that i can get hyped for the Lord while bangin to some solid and dangerous guitar riffs and grooves.. Just so I can rock out some times while being in awe of the holyness of the Lord Jezus Christ. God is good! Thank the heavenly father for saving a wretched piece of flesh like me.

I am a proud atheist and a proud Stryper fan from day one! As an atheist, I respect the sentiments of peace and equality that Stryper exudes. Before that, I respect the advanced musicianship of the entire band. No matter the message, the playing is amazing. I remember seeing the Heaven and Hell tour with Stryper and Slayer and being blown away musically, by both sides. I feel this new material is as strong as anything they've done to date. My fear is the world, on both sides, has degraded to the point where these messages are, largely, ignored, whether atheist or christian. I hope this doesn't hinder their success. Here's to many more years of Stryper!!!

There is no such thing as an atheist. We have both Good and Evil in this World and the fact that you came from your Mothers womb is more proof of life. We can only serve one of two Masters while on this Earth. God or Satan. Salvation through Jesus Christ is a FREE gift from God. take the free gift. Jesus paid your sin debt for you. Jesus Loves You. Holy Bible ,KJV.
