@@jalifritz8033 Thanks. It was a freaking nightmare. And I do my best to put word out there that life can turn around really fast. If anybody's reading this and struggling with addiction my advice to you is Don't Look Back. All these psychologists and classes that have you sitting around telling war stories looking at all the stupid mistakes you made. This is detrimental. My advice is to not look back. Focus on what's in front of you and tomorrow. Don't live in the past. Baby steps. Think about what you can do today to make tomorrow slightly better. Even if you think it's insignificant.. It adds up really fast.

Been there. I personally had to "reraise" myself, become my own cheerleader and isolate myself from just about everyone. I keep it simple, eat healthy, exercise and sleep well. Your right it is baby steps, and you have to "baby" yourself to stay well. No matter how much anyone screwed up there life they can do better.

My dad lost his mind on that stuff. Pulled a gun on me and mom causing us to flee for our life from ID to WA over night. One of the most difficult times in my life even just adjusting to the culture shock. Fortunately my dad was arrested 2 years later and forced to stay clean on probation or risk losing everything including his house. Long story short he stuck with it and my parents got remarried and I got to actually have a great father for the last 6 years of his life.

My sister and her ex-husband would use and make meth around my 2-3 year old at the time niece. My family went to have an intervention with my sister when we found my niece with blue lips, she had gotten pneumonia from the meth use in and around the house. We took her to the hospital and contacted CPS while she was still there. While it was the hardest thing in my life to have my niece taken away from my sister and away from our family. It was better for her. She would have died if we left it alone. I'm happy to say because of that, my sister got clean. She worked hard and has been drug free for years now. And she got my niece back. One of the few happy endings around meth.

@Shell m well, I was a normal teenager that did well in school. After graduating, alot of us started partying alot drinking and doing blow. I knew it's reputation of course and swore I'd never touch that stuff. Well one night while waiting for a friend to pick me up to go get more blow...I was hanging with a security guard I knew who worked in a building at the end of my street for years. He smoked meth. He laughed when I said I was waiting for coke and said to "try this instead" so like a dumbass, I tried it and LOVED it! The rest was history. That night was the beginning of the end for me. I eventually ended up getting locked up a few times and all kinds of drama came into my life. That stuff is GUARANTEED to destroy you and whatever sense of normalcy you had in your life. It doesn't care if you are rich or poor or what race, religion or whatever you are. Meth WILL destroy you. Stay the hell away from it and anyone who does it.

@LIQUID FX i mean if you have chronic pain a person is addicted to opiates. But as long as a person lives a productive life, has quality of life, then they are fine. There is nothing wrong with that addiction. However, if it was me I would move to a state that has Medical marijuana vs. living off opiates every day. But I do not judge a person who has to rely on opiates to live a productive life.

this is a romantic and ultimately unrealistic success story that has basically zero statistical backing. i'm glad you overcame yourself by moving your self to a new location, but i really struggle to believe someone who says this type of shit. there must be more to the story, or you would have just brought your old self with you to the new location. you provide here a success story with absolutely zero indication that "doing something really hard" actually means hard commitments to the self and doing things we know are right even when it might feel wrong to the twisted self. in other words: your comment is clearly designed to garner support and upshits from people who don't even know what the fuck they are looking at, while giving those actually in trouble a false idea of what lies ahead should they decide to run away and think it will fix everything

I was an addict for 5yrs and been clean for 16yrs now. Meth will make you turn on those you love, even yourself. One day I just took a good long look at myself and those I was associating with and said I can’t do this anymore. I realized I was losing myself and heading straight to prison or hell for no reason. Now I’m a successful business owner, shareholder, and live for my two little nephews who mean the world to me.

She struggled to get to her car, and then she called some family members who called 911. She was airlifted to a hospital for a brain injury and she struggled so much. This awful drug stole my sister from my life and I hate it so much! She died of a heart attack and she had open heart surgery and she was so weak that the machines were keeping her alive. The first Year, every once in a while I would dream about it as well, but In my dreams I only dream of picking up the piece but never smoke from it. And in reality I've picked up the dick pipe on a few occasions and I felt no urge to smoke it. In fact, the opposite occurred. I felt completely repulsed by holding it bc it reminded me of all the anxiety, psychosis, delusions, hallucinations and isolation from when I was high off my mind. I will note that, doing a large dose of magic mushrooms after 2 months of sobriety, helped me completely to rid of my addiction and thoughts of meth. However I don't recommend this to anyone bc a bad trip is more likely than not. Although, If they truly want to quit from it for good, I think magic mushrooms can be one of the most useful tools in doing so. Anyway, Alien, hang in there brother. I've known people who quit and get back on it immediately. Its a vicious cycle. So you're doing great, A year and a half is quite is a HUGE milestone. Be proud of that. Lastly, One of the best natural methods is to Incorporate some type of daily physical exercise into your life and things will get easier, I promise you. My faith in God is strong but if prayer isn't working my suggestion would be to slowly integrate yourself back into his life. I'm not your son but I might as well be and can tell you from firsthand experience there is a difference between tough love and abandonment. Helping someone with a ride or food or a place to sleep does not make you an enabler, it lessons the chance of that person turning to alternative methods when faced with those obstacles. If you can cross that bridge it's in these moments that you may gain a little influence. Combine your influence with specific prayers for best results. Of course trust being an issue in all situations not just drug-related I would only give enough rope to trip oneself and not to hang. May God be with you and grant you all that is needed from within. Expect and believe in miracles.

Here in Hawaii it’s very bad, my mom and dad both died young due to their addiction to meth. It’s kind of a double edged sword, on one side it ripped our family apart, on the other it also made me despise anything and everything about drugs. Instead of using my bad childhood upbringing as an excuse, I use it as motivation and vowed to be the best parent I can be to my daughter. It’s just sad my parents couldn’t kick their addiction and watch her grow up. Dad died a few years before she was born and mom died a couple months after she was born.

Love your self and be kind to your self. I personally think that the way this drug is and has been portrayed has played a huge part in an already broken system. Shame has never been a good or healthy motivator for one to want to get sober. Much love to you and all my fellow beings. Love is the answer folks. The kind of radical love that breaks down the stigmas and judgements the we humans are placing and allowing to be placed on our fellow human beings. You who are down need to stand up and hold your head up high with honor and dignity regardless of where you are in your journey sober or not because you are NOT defined by that in which keeps you down. instead identify with the strength inside of you that keeps you going. @@perrypresley9630 it was going to be over-the-counter not prescription. It's easier to be a shareholder of these Pharma companies knowing full well that you have demand of drug addict. That's why I got into investing in companies in the first place, it's easier than anything else, because companies are selling things that are essentially addictions and people cannot help themselves. Unless you are a massive shareholder of these companies making yourself a lot of money off their profits, if all you want is to pick up your Sudafed from a store and you're unwilling to do that because you want to make sure that people like myself making extra 10% more money a year be my guest. A lot of times people don’t care about these types of issues (across our nation) until it hits home! Like mine…my 29 year-old daughter has been in recovery now coming up on 3 years and she looks amazing. She didn’t use for too long (a couple years); nonetheless, it cost her everything! Living in her car under a bridge on the same street I live on (in the homeless camps) and she would come by just to shower, get a bite to eat or rest. Now, she has her AA and got accepted to a University to finish and achieve her Bachelor’s degree. It took jail to stop her and she always says it saved her life!! There is Hope and getting them into Treatment centers is crucial. However, you can’t help a person until the person is “ready”…

@@user-oz5xb9ed3w That’s very true. Her counselor told us that if a person has a support system (family & friends), they have a better chance of staying in recovery then those who don’t…bc there’s nothing to gain back, no incentive. MOST IMPORTANT, and I mean an eye opener for me, was learning the truth behind addiction. I used to think like most and blamed her for trying it to begin with. Little did I know, IT (the addiction) was there years before we ever saw it surface. The addict doesn’t even know it was there. Nowadays, it angers me to hear people bash them and blame them. Yes, they too, need to take responsibility but it’s how it ends that’s the key. Support from loved ones, understanding where it came from and lastly, fighting your trigger EVERY DAY!!

My brother, now 33, went into war at 17. He became a expert jump sniper by 19. While in Afghanistan, his convoy was attacked over 9 times. His best friend was killed in action and my brother was awarded a purple heart for his friend. My brother had to have a metal plate put in his face. While at home in Georgia, he couldn't cope, started drinking and wrapped his brand new charger around a tree, got locked up and dishonorably discharged. From then, he started using and selling meth. Then began going to jail and prison. Both his parents were addicts, but our mom didn't raise him as her and I stayed in Cali. He finally got clean after almost 10 years of active addiction. It blows my mind how little our armed forces get for help if they mess up

Once I shut up, he said, go and absorb whatever pain you can from someone who just got to where you once were. The gift of suffering is the grace you now have to remove even a molecule of another's pain by just being there silently and without judgement.

Lots of water. Three good meals per day. No music, no posters of rock stars. They had to work 8 hours per day, six days per week in the fields of the camp to grow their own food. They got paid for that work and the money went into a saving account with interest. That money was for them after a year of very intense treatment, sports, work and therapy. Aggression meant exclusion form the treatment. Any way of not following rules, meant the same. Worked quite okay.

I watched it destroy my mom’s life and it got to the point that I moved out of my dad’s house at 17 with virtually no knowledge of the real world. Being in college now, I really hope one day that there’ll be a point where meth isn’t such a huge problem. Children don’t deserve to lose their parents to this drug. My mom is currently sober, and I have no clue what my dad’s doing, but they both seem to be bettering their lives and getting back into work that’ll provide them a steady income. I hope they stay on the right path and that other meth addicts will also be able to do the same as them.

My generation was fortunate enough to have “master of puppets” very effectively teach us that these drugs make a promise of heaven, and leave you stuck in a painful hell, a slave to them. Meth, crack and heroin are so harmful they should remain banned and kids should be educated about them. Everything else should be decriminalized and the war on drugs ended.

My little brother died after going on a binge. He had been sober for a year and a half. He didn't get sober willingly and after he was released from his program he relapsed. He was so ate up and he really wanted to be better. After we lost my sister and mom we both went crazy. I moved away and stayed away from all my old friends. I begged him to do the same. I miss my family and I'm so grateful I didn't lose my kid's from the drug use. It's been 7 years since I have used. I would never go back to that miserable existence.

I have successfully struggled against meth addiction. Ex-husband murdered my bf coming down off meth. In 2019 my daughter that was a meth addict committed suicide because she was afraid "the demons" would make her kill her child or myself. So sad. She was college educated and very successful in her job as a medical professional. She did it (the death) in the wee hours of her daughter's 6th birthday. She had started using hard substances as a result of postpartum depression I believe, and the last six years of her life were largely spent in a psychosis. It was like watching a slow motion car crash every single day for six years. God rest her soul. ❤️ I will always miss her. Meth is the worst evil and precipitates awful crimes. People just want to party too much. Then it gets its hooks in them and stops being fun.

Very sorry for your tragic loss. I think you're on to something with the post-partum theory. It didn't result in me using meth, but postpartum depression AND also postpartum psychosis (very real, but much less popularly understood) are horrible. And they last FAR longer than most people think. My son just turned 8, and I feel like postpartum depression is just starting to subside.

Im not saying you're a bad mother by any means I know you did the best you to your ability at the time, nonetheless, it could have effect them and maybe if that relationship gets worked on you'll be able to pull them out of the funk too. That's all I asked of my mother, and she has been drinking since I can remember she recently got into to treatment and all the treatment do was add to her contemptuous perception of me. And when I asked for support in tears she mocked me. I pray that you're able to see their unmet needs and have the strength to acknowledge it for them. good luck

Then they turn to fentanyl and heroin Put the money in to rehabilitating these kids and addicts that are suffering including myself! @@markdoe353There are state funded programs for rehab but they're limited capacity rehabilitation is a very expensive business a 90 day program can cost upwards of 50 000 USD calculate that for every addict and they just don't have the budget for that not to mention rehab is not always effective and relapse happens often (some even say that treatment facilities work at getting people clean but not keeping them clean so that they relapse and end up back). Asking for more money to be put into these programs is difficult too since it's tax payer funded and it people often don't like the administration using their funds to aid drug users. The fact is there are more people that wanna get high then want to be clean so there's always going to be people like this, I think addressing why people are using drugs is more effective as a prevention vs cure but people who are in the grips of serious addiction can't always be fixed by rehab or counselling it's bigger than that.
