@@roslyndantinori7313 The idea that shoe-horning a person of color in as some sort of race-washed but otherwise white character suddenly makes the film 'diverse' and 'inclusive'. The only real inclusion or representation will ever be original characters written as actual human beings rather than the de facto representatives of an entire group.

@lamaurbenjamin399
@lamaurbenjamin399 4 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, because the movie about a magic forest that includes a talking snowman is ridiculous for having a black person lol, anyway Norway was apart of the transatlantic slave trade until around 1803, so that means its entirely possible for him to be there...I could also say that their country is fake so maybe it allows black generals? By the way this is for the comment about "um how" I also slightly questioned him being there but it makes more sense with a bit of information. I don't intend to sound malicious I just don't think "pandering" is necessarily a bad thing if it doesn't directly affect plot, if they were being " plausible'' then there would be multiple epidemics happening or something, i think influenza and cholera were big around then, I get your point though.

@@jonathanbowers8964 also there would have been blacks from Vikings. Africa was a frequent raid. You just hear about England cause it's in our language, and some Vikings were too lazy to go all the way. Back them Africa had a lot more loose gold laying about. Then again those bike Ng ships were low to the water. I think I'd also have lost my nerve and just looted the nearest coast, again, English speaking white people.

Great comment on the way tv and film is changing history. In the UK the bbc is incapable of making a period frame now without including black characters even though it may be set in 18th and 19th century Britain. Yes there were bame people here then but their numbers were small. It wasn’t until after WW2 that things really changed (for the better).

You don't really see deep dark skin that often over here (it's slowly changing though as more Somalians are moving north). It's nothing to do with racism or politics. People with a lot of melanin were just not a part of the genetic pool and nowadays most African immigrants settle in other countries, more to the south. For that reason these diversity moves annoy me a bit :/ it just doesn't make sense.

Just a thought, but would it be cool if Elsa represented an asexual character? Obviously the popular train of thought was to make her gay, but I liked the fact that Elsa could possibly relate in this aspect. Its always refreshing to see a main Disney princess or queen be happy with oneself, instead of seeing a relationship or love interest added into the story. Big reason why I liked the movie "Brave."

Precisely. This is especially doable because Disney will never make Elsa gay. They can't, because then they can't distribute the movie in China and will lose millions of dollars. Disney is a for-profit company so they have to pander to homophobes too. If Elsa is asexual, there is no risk because all they have to do is keep her single and leave it up for interpretation. I don't like the idea of Elsa's character in any form of relationship anyway.

Elsa doesn’t need a love interest. I feel like it was a relief having Elsa’s main love be sisterly love. We don’t need to always shove romantic love down everyone’s throats. We need to teach our kids that there are other important forms of love besides romantics. U don’t always need a girlfriend or boyfriend. Sometimes those who are there for u the most are family and friends

Yeah, and she's a princess, in Norway, heir to the throne. Guess she's pulling another Elizabeth. Actually no, she's being way worse, because she's neglecting her duty to the people of the realm by going to play with a snowman. Which would be perfectly acceptable if she was a commoner, is not acceptable when she's wearing the crown. Message of this shitty movie is to ignore your duties, ignore everything and go play in the snow. Don't be surprised if Else dies alone, in the dark, with nobody to love her, while her realm is wrecked by revolution or civil war.

Zamolxes77 It was specifically revealed that she and Anna are meant to be the ‘bridge’ between the magic and non-magic worlds, so while Anna keeps things stable in Arendelle (the ‘non-magic’ side), Elsa is keeping the peace on the ‘magic’ side of this ‘bridge’ by acting as the protector of the Enchanted Forest. Is it really THAT hard to understand?
