Quickly and easily change the oil in your BMW in under 30 mins. The procedure is the same even for non N55 engines, just add in the appropriate amount of oil and filter for your engine.

@Doyle Hargraves that is diesel not gas, in general diesel oil due to a large quantity of it in the engine can last much longer. Where a car has at most 8 quarts , most diesel engines have gallons of oil. However with V8 style diesel engines in pick up trucks that have EGR and all the EPA junk, I still suggest changing at 5K

10k isn't even that high service interval. I know Subaru wants oil changed ever 12k or so, Mitsubishi canters are like every 20k or more and there's def some auto shit with high capacity sumps and bypass filters that claim 60k plus between oil changes (I know at least Volvo and Scania do this)

@ian trofimov Well buddy you offer up an isolated situation with one vehicle. I have 4 vehicles right now with close to 500k miles on them. Highest mileage one is at 275k miles. Original engine burns no oil. No smoking, used both for city trips and long distance trips. Multiple brands. I've owned American, German and Japanese brands. Smaller displacement turbo charged engines are going to likely experience issues if you are going 10-15k miles between oil changes. I've seen it 1st hand on multiple occasions. Vehicle manufacturers want to advertise a vehicle that's low cost in maintenance. 5-6 oil changes will get you out of most warranty periods, if you have a catastrophic engine failure between your 10th and 13th oil change that's on you (using 10k mile OCIs). For those of us who keep our cars over the long term the benefits of regular 5-6k mile OCIS are worth every penny

@@FritzRamos I am BMW tech and I have to tell you that it is pointless. If you pour oil to the oil filter housing it just drains to the oil pan. It is for draining remaining oil in oil filter housing during oil filter change, that's why you unscrew oil filter first. Check on the next oil change, pour 5 liters of oil through oil filter housing. It will never be full :) Empty oil filter housing without oil during first start after oil change doesn't hurt engine. It fills up very quickly in less than few seconds. Those few seconds don't damage engine because engine parts have oil film on them which isn't that easy to lose as you could think. Overall good video. Keep up good work!

Do yourself a favor a change your oil every sub 3500miles and get yourself some aftermarket rod bearings before your stocks go and score your crank. You did it wrong. Earlier in the short you said oil flows better when on a slightly warm engine which is true. Yet at the end you say to start the engine then check the oil level. Wrong, because that oil is not at operating temperature or warm enough it’s flow is impacted. Once you start the engine the oil needs time to drain to the pan for you to check the oil. On a cold cold engine that could take a hour. Because you started the engine, oil has yet to go back to the pan so checking the oil level before topping it off will more likely lead to an overfilled engine/inaccurate dip stick reading. There’s idiots online, don’t leave mistakes like this in a tutorial.

No no no no no no. Warming up the oil isn’t to make it flow better it’ll flow no matter what because it was created that way. When warm the particles that get removed from in the engine and cleaned float in the oil and can be removed when warm vs in the bottom of the pan when cold.

@@alouisschafer7212 if I had a high end vehicle, I would still do oil changes regularly at 3000 miles.

Overpriced oil.

Running engine is bad idea. Oil pan is at the bottom of the engine … if you run the car the engines sucks oil to the top creating not accurate readings on the dip stick and oil that is stuck in the head

WRONG. Don't ever go 10k miles on ANY OIL. 6K maximum on full synth. 4k max on conventional. That will maintain long term protection.

Wrong. Should change the oil cold. It’s multi grade oil. It’s thinner when cold and gets thicker when it warms up
@loden888
@loden888 Жыл бұрын
Put your oil in your freezer then try pouring it. Cold oil = slow flow. But when the engine is cold, you're sure there's more oil in your drain pan to drain out. Warming up the engine pushes the oil into the engine and then you got a long wait for it to come back down.

@@loden888 no it still flows better when it’s cold sorry. See how it says 5 or 0W on the bottle before the big number? It’s a lighter grade oil when cold and then a 20 or 30 grade when it’s hot. They put stuff into it to make it thicken as it warms up. You’ll get more old oil out doing it cold. But I’m just a person on the internet so you do you and I’ll keep making my engines outlast the cars they’re in lol

Other parts of the world must have shitty oil then, seeing as Europe has plenty of high mileage cars on which the manufacturer's intervals were used. Even my cheap econobox has 380K km on the clock with 15K km service intervals

@@erikm.905 of course you can do that. Most cars will take it. But why risk.it. when all.of these high mileage oils and cars came out i laughed because its the same filter. And then they came out with high mileage filters and i still laughed after i opened them up and saw it was the same thing. All.im saying is its better to be safe than sorry. I take care of my vehicle and do my own work. For my and friends and families cars i see who changes at 3k miles and i see who changes at 10k miles when i fix things.
