Could you please do a video on the self check procedure SR receivers? I found out the hard way that if not done properly it will lock up your receiver.

Or are you talking about the “special” mode on channel 12?

If you update the transmitter to the latest version you don't have to use channel 12. You can do it from device config. You need to update RX as well. Read self check info in Rx instructions. Self check is ctritical to stabilization. I did not follow RX instructions and it locked up RX until I did it correctly. Just trying to save other newbies the frustration.

Cool. Is this for the S6R/S8R ACCST Receivers? Or the SR8/SR6 ACCESS Archer receivers?

@@TheRCAirMarshall For SR8/SR6/SR10 ACCESS Archer receivers, not sure about the others. RX must be in aircraft with servos hooked up and plane in level attitude. As I did not read the instructions when I activated self check fron device config I did not cycle the sticks as required when blue led flashed. Therefore self check did not see any inputs and locked up the RX. At that point all I had active on the aircraft was throttle. I could not figure out what was wrong but got the answer from RC Groups. When I performed self check correctly everything was fine. None of this has been covered in any other X18/20 series videos I have seen.

Hi Dave, just joined your posse and already I have a couple of questions concerning registering an ACCESS rx. From the video I learned you can register and bind up to 3 rx's per model. In all my years of RC I have only used 1 rx per model. So; Question 1 - do I have to create the model first? Question 2 - when would I need this feature and can you give me an example?

Hi Michael! Thanks for joining the channel, I really do appreciate it! First question, yes, you do need to build your new model first before registering and binding receivers. For the second question, there are a couple of scenarios where it would be beneficial to bind multiple receivers. Say, as an example, you have two 8 channel receivers but you have an airplane that needs 13 outputs. You can bind one receiver to handle channels 1-8, and a second that will be on channels 9-16 rather than needing to buy a single 16+ channel receiver. The second scenario, and the one I use, is a bit more complicated, and that is for redundancy. The Tandem transmitters support both 2.4GHz and 900MHz frequencies, so I will bind a 2.4GHz receiver with an SBus input alongside a 900MHz satellite receiver with an SBus output. Bind both to the same channels (1-8 for example) and connect the SBus out from the satellite to the SBus In of the primary receiver. Hook all your servos up to the primary receiver. What this does is offers not only a redundant receiver in case one loses signal, but also frequency redundancy in case you lose signal on 2.4GHz, you still have 900MHz available. Another benefit is 900MHz has a much longer range than 2.4GHz so if you accidentally fly out of the 2.4 range, 900MHz picks up and you can get the plane back without losing signal. There are other reasons to bind multiple receivers, but those are the two that come to mind right off the bat.
