Tessie, I just checked Amazon, and even one of their least expensive laundry soaps costs about $10/gallon. So you just made almost $50 in the time it took to put a few ingredients together -- plus, you were able to get the content to make a really helpful teaching video too! Win-win-win. When you throw in the fact that you can use this for dishes, cleaning and even use your leftover wash water to water your plants, it sure is a frugal luxury without a doubt. Your sweet granddaughter is learning so many valuable skills from you. If she decides to get married down the road, her family is going to be incredibly blessed with a wife and mom who will bring amazing talents and abilities into their happy home. In the coming years, I have a feeling that will be more essential than it has been in a long, long time! Bless you for being such a good teacher.

Thank you for sharing these recipes! I have a homemade dishwasher soap recipe that I love: 2 cups borax, 2 cups washing soda and 4 packets of the unsweetened lemon lime flavor kool-aid drink mix. Mix it up. To use, just fill the cups in your dishwasher and run as normal. It works great and is so much cheaper than buying Cascade.
