Several years ago, around this time of year, I passed a mechanic shop whose sign read, "We have pumpkin spice motor oil." I always thought 'pumpkin spice' just meant the spices used in pumpkin pie. Generally, no pumpkin. Just the spices.

Precisely. We get so hung up on the "pumpkin" part, that we forget -- it's not supposed to be pumpkin; it's about the spice alone.

The difference is the one that that was black had more sugar and that’s why it burned. Notice when toasting different breads, the ones that taste sweeter have to toast on lower number to avoid burning.

@FrugalFitMom - In my opinion, the easiest and best pumpkin spice bars are literally made with 1) 15 oz can of plain pumpkin and one Spice cake mix. Mix them together and bake them at 350 in a greased 9x13 cake pan for about 20 minutes. After cold ice them with some cream cheese frosting. Voila! So good and so easy to take with you to any gathering.

This was so fun! Quick quirky history comparison: When folks believed that All Hallows's Eve was the night that the dead could come back, they carried candles in (egad) hollowed out turnips. Things could be worse. We could be inundated with burnt turnip and beef tallow candle flavored oreos. Love your channel!

I am a pour the milk first and then little cereal at a time so it stays crunchy, NOT bread heel eating, and thick eggnog drinking (southern comfort brand, no its not alcoholic) kind of person. Thanks for a great video. Fun to see the whole family laughing together.

Southern Comfort for the win!!! My hubs thought he hated egg nog (he tried the hiland brand of egg nog… can we say ICK?!!!!) Then he tried Braum’s egg nog & then Southern Comfort. Yes. Southern Comfort is where it’s at!!! I’m a middle of the anything … bread, cake, pie, etc. lol …. Pour the cereal, then milk, & then pour more cereal to get the rest of the milk & the soggy bits taste amazing when mixed with crunchy cereal.

I tried the pumpkin Special K and found it had a good pumpkin spice flavor. I love the Dannon Light and Fit yogurt. Most things advertised as pumpkin spice are just that, the spices used for pumpkin pie not actual pumpkin. My favorite pumpkin treat is a Starbucks Chai Latte with one pump of pumpkin added. The spices all blend together either hot or cold,

Pumpkin Spice isn’t supposed to taste like pumpkin. It’s just supposed to be the spices that go in a pumpkin pie. You need pumpkin pie flavored or just pumpkin flavored foods.

I also found shredded wheat and special k in pumpkin spice. I couldnt find the jack o lantern faces. They were the cookies with the pumpkin filling. So good.

In those premade mixes, just omit eggs and oil and stir in one can of pumpkin puree instead. Then bump up any spices if necessary. Always comes out way better.

Walmart’s Great Value made an instant Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte mix this year and it is DELICIOUS. Arguably better than Starbucks and costs $5 for 6 servings.

Land o lakes pumpkin spice butter in the small tub is excellent. The great value cinnamon spice cream cheese is technically not pumpkin but the consistency is just perfect for toast. Its year around. Great for fall.

I agree. My homemade pumpkin bread, bars, cake and pie are all better than any store bought pumpkin product. I don’t think I’m even a great baker and they are better.
