Haley is so right about teaching kids their boundaries when they are little. Once a kid is a teenager, if they don't respect you, it's too late.

When my kids were little I always followed through with what I said. For example if your room is not clean by Friday, you can't go to the movie's on Saturday and I enforced it. If you miss behave in the store we are leaving and then we left if it happened. As they got older they knew if I said something like if you skip school I will walk you to every class the next day in my robe and slippers (and I meant it) and they knew I would follow through just based on the track record. It also meant that if I said we are going to the park on Saturday and I was so very ill, I would still take them.

@@shannonbrice8012 THIS, especially. But also, if something is yes one day and no the next day and no discussion or logic as to why, that's setting them up for failure. They want and need clear boundaries. If they can't have sugar except on birthdays and holidays, they need to know that. If they can play with Mary while you're there but can't go to Mary's house because her parents don't watch kids as closely as you do, it's okay to tell them that. I had a lot of friends as a kid that were "only outdoor" friends because my mother didn't know their parents. If some days they can buy a small toy at Wal-Mart and some days they can't, they need to know it's a "not" day before you go in the store. And, like Shannon says, once you get in the store, DON'T CHANGE YOUR MIND. Don't cave to pressure or they will spend the rest of your mutual lives working you.

People think that not disciplining their child when they are young is cute, and what's best for the kids. But truth is it just harder on everyone. Like Haley said teach them young what your expectations are and stick to it. I have four daughters and everyone always said oh just wait until they are teenagers. Truth is it wasn't hard raising teenagers. They had clear boundaries and new the consequences. I also taught them from young age why my boundaries were there. They had the choice to not agree with them and could discuss with me. But at the end of the day I was given them to protect and lead and my answer was final. Now they are grown and I have good relationships with them. My biggest advice is watch who is influencing your children. If people don't have respect for you they will harm your children. Through bad mouthing you, your parenting and your choices

Hi! I’m 22 and I watch most of your videos and have for abt 2 years now. Every single video I see with Haley I am always amazed at how she is so smart and wise. I never knew what I wanted to do right out of high school either. I had the go to college and get an education speech thrown at me constantly. I tried it but turned out pharmacy wasn’t what I wanted to do (who woulda thought😅🙄) so I dropped out and went to work. I’ve been working at sonic drive in for nearly 2 years and I’m a manager now. With tips it’s actually decent wages and I love the people I work for. My boss is awesome and has become my friend. Would that be what high school me would have thought I’d be doing at 22. No. Life rarely goes the way we expect it to honestly, but sometimes that’s a good thing cuz I absolutely love it and actually look forward to work. Some people look down on my job, but truth is I’m enjoying how and where I’m spending 5/7 days a week and not dreading going to work each day and hating my job unlike most of the people who are hating on me about it. So my advice to her would be don’t be afraid to try different things and don’t let anyone fit her in a box or tell her how or where she should spend her life. If it makes her happy and she’s able to get by on it, then nobody else’s opinion of it matters. If it makes her happy nobody else has to understand it or agree with it. She just has to be patient and trust that she will find her niche. 😇♥️

You treat your kids with respect as well at any age. I can see that. You enjoy being with them, we can see that in every video. Many parents think respect is a one-way street. They complain that raising kids is so so hard, they joke about their spoiled kids in front of them, they say teens are no good and that we're doomed with them, etc. Kids feel that and they watch your behaviour like a hawk. E.g. Hayley not knowing yet: you just respect it, boomer parents would have already judged the.... out of it. With the family and the neighbours.

I love what you said about creating habits as being important. I can’t exercise at all right now due to a high risk pregnancy and also at risk of pre term labor/delivery, but I was a nut for weight lifting prior to that and I’m looking forward to the day I can get back into that habit. That doesn’t just come naturally and it took years of fine tuning those habits. I’m a certified personal trainer now and that’s always my first piece of advice. Don’t worry about being perfect, just focus on making one habit on exercise OR nutrition first. It’s not about doing it all at once.

One of my guilty pleasure foods is boxed Mac and cheese, got seriously addicted to it in college and eliminated it entirely for 10+ years. Very valid point. My grown children took extra years, too. I had no problem with that, and their schooling required no loans. Not on the same note as those who don't know quite what they want to do yet... for those who want college, but require saving money for school, who are very serious about school and can do online and self -study, my state has done an excellent job of teaching that most regional accredited schools accept up to 45 alternate credits. CLEP being the best example. They even support on their various school sites a non-profit called Modern States, an organization that offers materials, resource, online coursework to study for CLEP exams and provide up to 8 Free Vouchers for taking the CLEP tests free. They call it "Freshman Year for Free."

Everyone talking about getting the pup spayed: The animal is set up for a healthier life if their hormones aren't screwed around with until they're grown. This is especially true in large breed dogs. Unfortunately, not everyone has the option (for myriad reasons) of putting the surgery off for their pets that long, so we've all gotten used to doing it to small puppies and kittens. If Christine and her family **can** put it off until the pup isn't a pup anymore (or close to it), that's better for the dog.

Pregnant dependents whose spouses were below a certain officer rank were automatically sent to register at the WIC office ON BASE as part of prenatal care. Yes, qualifying for WIC was such a normal part of military enlisted life that there was a WIC office on the base. WIC moms shopping at the commissary was the daily norm. I also took a free half-day family budgeting class at the Family Service Center on base and got a big tote bag full of very useful babies items upon completion. It was called Baby's First Sea Bag. The assumption was that enlisted families with young children would need help. I worry about my homeless traveling friends. If they have an emergency, I worry and hope they find help. Car breakdowns have been really upsetting from being stuck in out of the way places. When my friend got her purse stolen with all her id, she couldn't get a caregiver job. It took weeks to replace.

Barbell…..find a relatively local, largish completion and reach out to the coordinator. The barbells will often be up for sale after the completion! That’s how I’ve purchased to of my 35lb Rogue bars. I’m in south Louisiana, so I purchase at the Ragin Games in Lafayette, LA.

With diet I focus on one really healthy meal a day right now. I have a precooked meal company that is PHENOMENAL. All meals are 400 calories or less and loaded with protein to keep you full. I use it for my lunches so I don’t find myself snacking all day because I’m hunger. I’ve also started running back in May. A little at a time and I now have completed 2 5k’s

Hi Christine, your channel is definitely one of my go tos for the positive factor! I enjoy your upbeat personality and your humor! 🙂😉Also, maybe Dave should try a gluten-free diet which may possibly help with the flare up of psoriasis. I know that avoiding gluten helps with many other auto-immune diseases.

I would love to have a side hustle but I think I wouldn't have the time cause I work a full time job and I homeschool my daughter and I have a vegetable garden. Maybe something I can do while doing something else. Thanks for a great video.

Thanks for the tip on the Costco canned chicken. Is that for all brands of canned chicken or just Costco. I find it just as easy to boil and shred it at home.

Your sister is so funny " I feel like we hang out 3x a week " 🤣. I like the advice of building habits and starting small, it takes the pressure off.

As a high school registrar I can tell you the school portion of a winter sunshine escape is a nightmare. As a non winter lover myself I say go for it!

Your daughter is SO CORRECT - that a lot of parents don't "correct" their small children as needed and later they can't understand why their kids don't obey the rules properly.

Buy doggie pads for heat cycles. We have a female German Shepard and they work amazing. Lol don’t forget to take them off when you’re outside.

I've seen Service Dog handlers put baby diapers with a hole cut out for their tail when the dog is in heat.
