A frugal decoration tip is the color of white is good for any occasion. Almost every holiday in the USA has the color red associated with it. If you can buy some white or red Corelle dish sets since they are reusable and you only have to buy themed napkins and or cups.

When we first came out from the UK to Australia, we were invited to a get together at someone's house. We were told to bring a plate.....we had no idea what they meant. They meant to bring a plate of food to share!!! This is the norm over here and I love it as it helps out the hostess.

I must have had 100 of those books over the years. At one time, I had over 400 cookbooks. I was published in Taste of Home twice once in 2003 and 2007 for a Bee Tea and an All Washed Up theme. I finally had to part ways with most of them but they went to good homes. My mom was also published in a Family Circle magazine and owned her own bakery and catering business. Entertaining is in my blood. It can be so much fun and you're right on point with your tips. People really don't care about the hours it takes to get ready they just want to visit and have a great time.

What a great idea for a video. I agree about not over inviting guests. My birthday is coming up in July and my husband wanted to host a very casual birthday dinner for me at our favorite pizza restaurant with about 25 or so friends and family. I thanked him but declined and said I would rather have just a few close friends and family members at our home instead. So instead of paying a big restaurant bill he will be picking up the pizzas himself there for less money, and I will get a quieter atmosphere!

I don't care much for cake mixes because of the preservatives in them however if you use a cake mix, here is a very easy way to improve canned frosting melt 3 ounces of white almond bark and mix with the frosting, and you have the best frosting out there, and it frosts cookies too.

Good morning, dear Emmy and Paul🙋♀️. Thank you for this wonderful video. I love the view in your garden to the flowers. In our garden there are many roses are blooming at the moment. I love this so much and I am very thankful for this. I am only working halftime in an office so I have time for my garden, too. My husband has got 4 siblings so that our familiy meetings are always bigger. We are a very big, loud and happy family 😄. This autumn we will go to Denmark all together for a week again. Whith all husbands, wifes and childrens. Everyone has to make once breakfast, lunch, dinner and so on. It is so funny. I hope the "current situation" will allows this. When we have friends at home, we only invite 4 (two couples) and have an easy lovely evening with no phone, simple food and good conversations. Send you love and as usual a BIG HUG over the ocean. ❤

Thanks for all your great ideas. Here’s is a tip. When I am having a get together. We make all our burgers on the grill ahead of time. I stew my onions put them in some beef broth and then add the burgers. Keeps them juicy and I just have to pop them in the microwave to heat them up or in a pan on stove. Freeze all leftovers in broth and they are great at another time and no work! Blessings 🇺🇸

My daughter is in the heat wave in Washington state. In Colorado where I live is 20 degrees cooler. So true on a theme. I worked at a catering company. This poor bride wasn’t ready to using this venue. It was high end and she had invited 500 people for the reception. We used cloth tablecloths and napkins. She said no to that and used plastic tablecloths and paper napkins. Plastic flowers and they looked cheap. The nail in the coffin was 100 people came. They had to pay for the 400 people who didn’t show. Plus the people were laughing at her colors. It looked like a bruise black and blue. I went into the bathroom and found her crying. I told her the people who came were her friends and family she loved and loved her. Go out and enjoy your guests who came for her and her husband. She went out a little later and she enjoyed her reception. I really felt bad for her and her family. I enjoyed your video today.

We host the family BBQ every year, it started about 5 years ago, but we usually have 24-30 people. So happy for you Carrie!! Enjoy your gifts!!! I have never made sloppy Joe's without MANWICH before......lol....you might guess from that ..that I'm not a stellar cook but this looks very easy and I cant wait to try it. Also...good points about the phone during a get together. My husband's family are very big on large parties and get togethers....averaging 30 or more people for every thing .....ugh....and if you sit and look at everyone ...they are all scrolling their phones..even the hostess. It is kinda sad. I make a point of turning off my phone but I'm usually the only one and others are just chatting while using theirs. I guess it's just the way things are but it would be nice to go for once and really talk to each other. Anyway....another great video. Thank you !!!

I love this video. First because of the tips for entertaining. I never thought of limiting how many guests we invite. Sometimes having so many people in our home has made it very stressful and I found myself waiting on people and not really enjoying the company or engaging in meaningful conversation. Secondly, I have never ever made sloppy Joe's in my life and I used to love them in school. My mom made an attempt at it using something called Manwich I think when I was in high school back in the 70's. That was a first and last. Your recipe looks so easy and I have all the ingredients. I'm having visitors from the mainland in a week and I'll definitely make this one night. Thanks a bunch!

Your Sloppy Joe recipe copy looks like so many of my recipe copies. And like you I have so many of those little recipe books and my favorites are the ones that were sent to my now late parents as a bonus to their subscription to Yankee Magazine. Although I am sure the recipe can be found elsewhere my favorite from one of those little recipe books is the fresh strawberries in balsamic vinegar with a little sugar which I pour over plain pound cake I make from scratch. The balsamic vinegar adds some inexpensive decadence to your basic strawberry shortcake which I top off with vanilla ice cream.

I loved the flowers but don’t know what they are. The recipe looked fun and the entertainment tips were useful. I’m sitting in front of two fans. Stay as cool as you can.

You stay cool as well Linda! Those flowers are on what is called a Snowball Bush!

Did you use red wine or balsamic vinegar?
@FrugalMoneySaver3 жыл бұрын
I used Balsamic vinegar. It's a bit sweeter.

@@FrugalMoneySaver Thank you. I agree with your choice to reduce the amount of vinegar in this type recipe. The reduction allows more of all the individual flavors to do their magic in the recipe.

Prefer your more chatty and light videos with you smiling, this was like being reprimanded and given a set of instructions.

Didn't realize I was coming off that way. Now I feel as if I was just reprimanded...

I didn't take it as a reprimand. And I noticed a lot of smiles. 🤗
