I also hate bananas, although I can eat them if they’re fairly unripe. That said, I make vinegar and banana vinegar has been hands down the best I’ve ever made! It elevates everything but also so tasty on plain rice. Wow!!! 🍌 I’m planning on upping my game to wine, mead, and makgeolli making and I’m so excited to start with banana!!! 🎉

Really enjoying your channel. I can't wait to get started. I just wondered if you notice any difference in the quality of the wine if brewed in a 5 gallon batch compared to a smaller 1 gallon batch? I've heard people say bigger is better?
@HowToDoneRight
@HowToDoneRight Жыл бұрын
No flavor difference. In my opinion it's too much time to make just 1 gallon batches. 1 gallon batches will give you 4 to 5 bottles and that may take you 4 to 6 months to reap rewards. 5 gallon batches will give you 20 to 25 bottles more worth it but alot of wine... that's why you will see recent videos me doing 3 gallon batches And not as hard on the back lugging carboys around... but no difference in quality at all. Great question And thanks for subscribing AND watching the channel. 👍👍😁😁🍷🍷

What a wonderful overview! Your video perfectly illustrates the point that preference is personal. Some things will come back across the board and usually they boil down to a few elements: 1) balance: a good balance (acidity, tannins, sweetness) will come across as more pleasant. One should slightly dominate, the two others should support that one. Think of it like a triangle. 2) like in computer programming, crap in = crap out. Input influences output. Ripe fruit equals more flavour. Incidentally, if you want lots of peach flavour (notoriously difficult to get) then your peaches should he as ripe as possible, come off the stone easily and do not remove the skins as they add A LOT of flavour. 3) patience. Fast fermentation equals loss of flavour, so if your fermentation is violent, move your fermenter to a cooler spot. You’ll lose less flavour through the airlock 4) light. I noticed you use clear bottles. Especially with darker fruit, protect the delicate colour and berry flavours by using coloured glass bottles. Wine makers have heen doing this for ages and there is a reason they do. Your blueberry might have benefited from this. Blueberry is a very delicate flavour. The mixed berry, thanks to the seeds that contain more tannins, might have kept better thanks to the higher tannic value… or it’s just younger (still binge watching, haven’t gotten to the mixed berry and blueberry wines yet). Thank you for an excellent video.

I have banana in the secondary 5 gallon carboy waiting for clarification, and I am starting frozen mixed berry with blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries tomorrow. After that I will be trying a strawberry wine. So, I will do your top three each and see where I would rank them. Since you made this video....have your minds changed on your top three or have you made new combinations of wine you would put in the top 3 now? Thanks a lot!

I’ve been watching your videos and I have not seen where you have tested pH. Is that something that is not necessary when following a recipe such as yours?
@HowToDoneRight
@HowToDoneRight Жыл бұрын
That's funny you ask that. I have a meter and never use it. Generally if you have pour water quality you could test the ph. You want it between 3.4 and 3.8. I even have a ph meter just never use it because i have great water quality. If i would get off taste wine i would test but wine is perfect each time with this recipe. If you wanted to age wine for longer periods of time you may want to mess with ph. There's all kinds of test kits for wine i just think it's not necessary in my situation. I'd be curious if some of my other experienced wine makers are testing it. Great question. 👍👍

Wow that Is thinking outside the box?😁😁 i got a little confused about your question you said Grow then you said about the fruit inside. If you mean adding fruit to the bottle then add wine to it that Is dangerous because the fruit would ferment release carbon dioxide and the bottles would explode under pressure.
