thanks for the recipe Chef ... which is so much simpler and easier to do .... BUT ... I'm an adult at 60 this Dec., 😉😁 ... so I like to put some booze/ liquor on this dessert which to me is dark spiced rum like Kraken brand .... Sorry to go against those who nagged for alcohol free version ... but Fruit Cake is simply NOT fruit cake in all its truest essence WITHOUT ALCOHOL... Also, you are right to recommend choice of dried fruits and nuts as they are lower sugar choice than going for a pack of glazed fruits which we dont know exactly what's in it... Dont have glucose and i have natural organic honey... but prefer the more neutral, healthier than corn syrup... that is agave syrup... Will make this as either my New Year's eve or Xmas dessert ... with well chilled fruit cocktail salad as the other dessert of choice . With the fruit cake bars, I hope to buy and chop into it some drained dark red canned cherries instead of the overly sugared bright red maraschino cherries ... even without chocolate, they will pair delightfully well with the rum liquor. Also, instead of the usual pre packed glazed fruit, i will buy a pouch of dried fruits snack at the health foods aisle ... more natural & fruity but much less sugared... and you know exactly what fruits went into it ...
