Welcome to The Frey Life daily vlogs! We are Peter & Mary, a married couple in our early 30's, showing the ups and downs of everyday life with #CysticFibrosis, a genetic lung disease that Mary was born with. In August 2019, Mary started a new CF medication that changed the trajectory of our future, and we are now in the process of growing our family through #adoption. We have an adorable standard poodle, Oliver, and a hairless sphynx cat, Harry. I forever hate PFTs! Severe eosinophilic asthmatic here and my asthma has been flaring for a little over a month now. Having to do rescue nebs throughout the day and once during the night just to be able to breathe. Not fun at all!

Your lung function score might be higher if the readings weren’t on the sixth or seventh try. It made me want to cough just watching you do it (asthma here). It’s a serious workout when it’s that many times!! You did well and I would place a bet on your being better than that score

I would be out of breath if I had to blow into machine that hard that many times and I don’t have lung issues. You did great!

I'm not allowed a dog at my apt complex so I make sure to get my daily dose of Ollie! He's a precious sweetheart and such a good pup.

Oh my goodness those breathing tests are brutal. I always get dizzy just from the doctor asking me to breathe in and out when he checks my heart. You’re a champ!

I'm making Pumpkin Cookies tomorrow with my grandaughter... Passing on the Recipe that's been in our family longer than I've been alive (I'm 51)! We think these Cookies are the best, because they get softer and better as the days pass, unlike other cookies that become hard and crumbly. Also they are Devine with or without frosting.

Omg I make those cookies for Thanksgiving! They're everyone's favorite 😁 also my son just started trikafta a few months ago and is doing so great! We no longer worry about his weight and he even was able to get his g tube removed! He's going to be 8 on Halloween 🎃

Oh my gosh I could NOT do those PFTs! I was almost sucking in with you and then was so tense all over the whole time while you were exhaling! I didn’t realize I was doing it until you finished the second try when it said “try again”. You were working so hard it’s no wonder your lungs were exhausted. It’s good you had the cookies for a reward!🎃🎃

You need mulling spices for your cider. They flavor the cider but they don’t stay in the cider when you drink it. We get them in tea bags so it’s super convenient!

I just finished a really hard white mountain puzzle it was all things that happened in the 1970s I found it at Target and it took me a week to finish it. It had 1000 pieces. But, it was still fun to do.

My favorite are puzzles made by Buffalo. Lots of words help too. I do the border first and leave the rest in the box and search that way. I just counted and I have 45 puzzles😁

My best friends little guy finally got to start trikafta a few weeks ago, but unfortunately was admitted soon after and still admitted. I keep trying to reassure her of how positive it has been for you. Fingers crossed that this helps him, they’ve waited so long!❤️

You should watch Karen Puzzles, she has a lot of tricks to do puzzles! I've been doing them for about 10 years now (which means more than half of my life lol) and only recently I was able to do bigger ones (two thousand pieces and more) because I didn't have enough space, and her technique is awesome!! I already used almost all of them but we can always learn one or two things from other people, so maybe it'll inspire you to go back to this puzzle and nail it :D

I've never had a too hard puzzle. Including the gold foil one that had tiny little gold circles on it. Came with a warning to stop if experiencing eyestrain

I think that might be a different cookie recipe. I think the other recipe had maple syrup in it and the only reason I remember that is because I have unopened maple syrup in my pantry that I was going to use to make those cookies last fall and never did. 😁

What brand is the at-home pft? I had no idea they had those! My pfts haven’t been tracked as well with my docs doing virtual visits. It would be so useful for tracking trends between the doctor ones (like you said).

Ahhhh yup I remember pft’s as a teenager due to my asthma. My tech that done mine use to call me a sea lion cause of the cough I would get trying to get a good reading. Even as an adult my reading is significantly below average but I’m sure better then any cf sufferer.

I don't have any lung issues, but i know there is no way i could do that lung function test! And i think when Mary stuck her fist in the air and grimaced at eh camera when the machine said she didn't do it properly, was prob the closest we will ever see Mary to swearing / using an expletive lol

I have a puzzle on the table an l want to send it to the moon. I don't know if pieces are missing or what. It has white picket fence that lve taken apart many different times because it looks right but it's not the top border is a disaster..lve taken it apart l gave up trying . I truly think this new puzzle has pieces missing. I'm determined to try to get it together. I told a friend it's like they cut it out an the painted the picture.

Better than having to drive to the doc often just to huff into a machine. It’s a short lived test so easier to do it and get it over-with at home. They have more tests for home for various specialties than in the past.

I have fought with many respiratory therapists that my husband is going to pass out and quit pushing him so hard. My husband has bronchiactias he can take a deep breath in but no air to push out.

@@Barec76 Some medical ppl need to go back to school. I have seen my husband come close to passing out and it's not good. He can't keep blowing when there's no air to blow. Why don't you try doing pft's over and over until they think they have the best . It takes lot out of a person with a chronic lung problem.
