A good example of the benefit of analysing your games afterwards, even if (especially if?), you win it with style. The _post mortem_ of the last game, a thematic Sicilian, revealed that the pawn ending led to a draw. Do watch the video all the way through! Btw, the Advanced French variation is featured only in a couple of games.

I think that 1700s should know how to face the King's Pawn Nimzowitch, 1 e4 Nc6. Note that 2. d4 d5 and 3 ed5 Qd5 4. Nf3 plays into Black's repertoire, if Black is well-prepared. At 4:01, Black can aggressively play 4...Bg4! or maybe ...e5!?: 4...Nf6 is inaccurate. White needs to think about how to stay in-repertoire as 2. Nf3 e5!? means that White has blocked the f-pawn. Maybe 2. Bc4 (but 2. ...e6!) or, better, 2. Nc3.

Funny thing - of all the GM speed runs I’ve watched (6-10 or more), this is the thought process/ “inner dialog” I can imagine coming close to. Jesse - “hey boss, that isn’t gonna work”. Other GM speed runners - “ N to xyz, P to qrs, I’ll take on jkl…” (eyes roll back in our heads)… he didn’t even draw 500 arrows… 👍🏽🙏🙏🙏🙏
