In this video, you will witness the first part of the two-part Motorised 737 Throttle teardowns. The Pro version from FSC is the unit being showcased, which is an outstanding piece of engineering and electronics. Our goal is to restore both throttles to their working condition, as they are required for a commercial sim centre located in the UK. Have you ever wondered how all the workings are accommodated in such a small space? This Teardown video will hopefully answer that question for you!

I like the FSC attention to detail, the green primer colour on the internal metalwork. I doubt this is essentially needed on the assembly, but it shows they've looked at Boeing TQ's and have committed manufacturing time to something you'd only see when you open it up.

Fantastic tear down! It's easy to see why they cost so much. The amount of engineering and complexity is significant. I tore down my older RevSim TQ (i.e. CockpitForYou) and completely rebuilt it from almost the ground up. When I had it all apart I remember thinking "Oh man, what have I done?!" It's overwhelming, but bit by bit I brought it back to life. Like you, I'm fascinated by the different ingenuity used solve the same complex problems. Love the work you do and appreciate your contributions to the community!

Great video! I had to watch the video twice because the first time I watched the object that was behind your back :) So many things have been added since the last video... I build the sim almost synchronously with you, as soon as you publish something new, I implement it straight away. Thank you for your engineer artwork and videos!

The cockpit For You throttles are more like the actual aircraft, however, they are renowned for a total lack of support. You cant push the parking brake off on the aircraft, it only releases with pedal pressure. People get stressed in simulators, and the aircraft, they often start 'swinging' on the reversers before the locks have released, thankfully the aircraft throttle is solidly built! I would also say now Ive seen the inside of the FSC throttle it appears better engineered than the CFY throttles. Great video as always.

The CFY TQ has less than ZERO support. I have one that I bought since 2015. I had a chat with Karl on how I can configure it to work with a better software and hardware. I am awaiting the CFY dissect video soon.

Thank you! Its great to see you are still here and following along! I'm currently upgrading the some of the parts, but i feel they way the reversers are made, they will always be weak due to the lever forces involved.

Are these devices used to train real life pilots? If not they are very sophisticated for a consumer simulator. Quite amazing and fascinating to see these broken down.

Hi, I have printed a few of your 737 parts and i like your cad style. Could you please share the secret to getting the sim instrument panel to be removed from the forward view in msfs2020? in FSX its a simple right click.

Hi - I’ve been using FSC motorised TQ for about 4 years from new. Although it’s well made, there are few design deficiencies in my opinion. Firstly, the parking brake lever is too lightweight and hasn’t got the right kind of resistance when operating. The thrust reverse levers also don’t have a solid feel and there is too much play in the linkages when operating. Lastly, the trim wheel gearbox and motor is way too noisy and far from perfect in reproducing sound anywhere near like the real thing, considering how expensive the TQ is. Be interesting if you can improve these deficiencies during your rebuild.
@helimech8152
@helimech8152 9 ай бұрын
I have come to the same conclusion as you on the first two points. The thrust reverse mod is nearly done, but the design is flawed by lever pivot point. Your always doing to be able to put more force in, than the parts can take. The parking brake would need a complete redesign to bring that up to a good standard. I'm just going to rebuild that and get it working again. As for the trim wheels, I need to rebuild that to see what they actually sound and feel like.

I'd almost die for one of these, but they're just too expensive. Maybe when I win the Lotto, lol. I'd love to see what the gear ratio is between the trim wheel to trim indicator in the real Boeing cockpit. I can build my own, but I just need the numbers (and a lot of time in the shop).
