12.5 is supposed to integrate both city and highways stacks. This one is not at that point yet.

Agrees. Did a good bit of highway last night, and it's for sure still old stack.

Good video! Cobblestone round-about was handled just like a human driver would. (And probably has by other Tesla drivers!)

Very nice drive. A lot different than city roads. A lot of patches, manholes, blind corners and need for dynamic speed changes. Very nice training data for Tesla. Interesting roundabout quirk as well, but it shows that following the lane should be more consistent, if there are two options are equally valid. Nice scenery and place to live, maybe except for the roads conditions.

Oh man the road work around here this time of year is off the charts! Otherwise this part of New England and the surrounding areas are Beautiful.

Seems the good or bad experience with different updates could be location issues. Do you feel comfortable sharing which state this drive is in? So far seems California and Michigan are good on 4.2 and 4.3.

Chuck encountered a situation while using auto park: during the parking maneuver, another car drove by, and his car didn't yield. Could you try a similar scenario with auto park and have your wife or a friend drive by to see if your car responds correctly?

Ooook so it seems the preemptive creeping is not well handle yet, like when there is room, no problème but as soon as the car is very close it should not creep until the car passe.. Need improvement great to detect it but overall great great drive!

47:40 I’ve watched it three times now at quarter speed. I don’t think it was going to hit the car. It rolls and cuts it close but was not going to whack the rear of the vehicle passing. The blue intention bar certainly crossed the passed car but that intention line is covering the next seconds…. the car would be passed by the time of intersection. I agree it was human-uncomfortable though. It shouldn’t cut that close. Thanks for sharing.

No. It was pulling out. It had already creeped up and jerked like it was going twice before I had to intervene. None of it was acceptable or comfortable to the passengers. The car needs to sit still until it goes. With that said, the rest of the drive was pretty amazing. The car took us to a concert an hour away and back home last night. I am highly impressed, but I also want to show everything.

@@johnfurr6060 yes I agree it was pulling out. But at quarter speed it looks like it wouldn’t have actually collected the passing car…. it was very close though. It does that when it’s crossing traffic…. starts to roll before the car has passed in front but times it to just pass behind. I could be wrong, but at quarter speed it looks like it was close but not going to hit. I fully understand why it would feel like it was going to hit though. And that is an unacceptable action for it to take…. making the humans uncomfortable. Forgive me if I’m just totally wrong but at quarter speed that is how it looks. I really appreciate your reply and the videos. Thanks again.

In this case, perhaps the video isn't doing it full justice, but It would have pulled out in front of the car and the guy wouldn't have had time to stop. Remember you are watching a video of the event that I was in the drivers seat for it. I was trying to give the car as much leeway as possible to see how it would perform Now is it possible that it would have only lurched 5 inches and slammed on the breaks? Yeah. Maybe the other car could have swerved around me. We won't ever know the cars next steps because I had to make a split second decision to intervene. It was a little scary this time to be honest. The thing is though, this wasn't a blind corner that required a lot of creeping. Car had clear line of sight before it even made the full stop.. The car shouldn't have had any issue with this one IMO. You are right though, it is fairly normal for the car to start/stop like that and it's one of my biggest complaints. Go or wait. Don't go/wait/go/wait that drives me mad! Anyway mad FSD is getting crazy good. Like I said I did an hour long drive last night to a concert and an hour drive home and the car did flawlessly. Very impressed overall.

@@johnfurr6060 I really appreciate your detailed response. I still do think that it looks like it wasn’t going to hit but rather slip in behind the car. But you were there and video can be deceptive. So maybe I’m wrong about that. It seems unlikely because so far all the mistakes FSD has made have reasonable explanations of why it would fail. The Chuck Cook parking near hit was during the auto park stack for instance. Maybe that’s not good yet. But in this case it’s got the vision and a correct interpretation of the road arrangement so it’s hard to see how it could get it so wrong. I would have stomped the brake too. It was at least exceedingly uncomfortable and maybe you are right and it was about to prang. In any case I am very pleased that you took the time to tell me your point of view in such a decent manner. I’m sure it’s at least slightly infuriating if you believe I have it so wrong. So thanks for being decent about it. And thanks for doing this pioneering work that we all will benefit from.

@@johnfurr6060 My guess is that since you are at an angle relative cross traffic. You re on the very edge of the side view front camera and also side rearwards. So there could be a weak spot in detection and speed estimate function of vehicles in that narrow band. The only way to determine the speed of an object travelling rigth at you by a single lense is the growth of the object. I dont think that it is a coincidence that the colour of the car was grey just as the tarmac and went a little faster than the limit.

Your road surface in that area is atrocious, even worse than the UK. We have too many potholes, but those raised manhole covers would cause the road to be closed over here. Someone got killed around where I live just a few weeks ago when he swerved to avoid a service cover that was being realigned during installation of optical cables. He was in a very expensive classic Porsche and didn't want the car to be damaged, he lost control. FSD is not even close to handling our narrow country lanes, but that is not Tesla's focus. It would mean that his Robotaxi is dead-in-the-water as a concept in much of Europe right now, unless it was geofenced.
