For the FIRST TIME I’ve seen a Zebra crossing shown up on the screen! At 12:20 it shows the crossing as a orange flashing light with a stop path PROVING it CAN and WILL react to UK crossings soon! Shame it showed a traffic light, but good steps! :)

@@TeslaDriver Nah, it's clickbait. Your videos are interesting enough as is, whereas showing a photoshopped visualisation of a zebra crossing, when in reality Autopilot simply detected a traffic light, is just misleading and false.

I have to say, I can't see it at 12:20, looks like regular traffic lights to me, guess the line would just be the regular stop line used at junctions. I'm on 2020.24.6.1 - do you have something newer on early release? Can you recreate the Zebra crossing scenario locally? It would be very cool if it did recognise them.

For those in the U.S. trying to understand what is going on: "Zebra Crossing" = "Crosswalk" - A Zebra Crossing in the US would mean there is a picture of a zebra on a sign to indicate an area where Zebras are likely to cross the road.

I know it sounds odd, but I get my 'fix' for traveling through the UK, in these extraordinary times, by following you on Google maps while you traverse through various locations in your Tesla. In Plymouth, for instance, I pause your video, find your location on the map, like on Grand Parade and Great Western Road, and use the Google 'street view' function to look around and get a true-to-life picture of the places you drive through. Admittedly, it makes getting through your videos twice as long, but it's rather fun. Thanks for the tour. (I'm in the US btw.) :)

This video shows really well at what point the technology currently is. It is able to do so much, but it's not quite there yet. The christmas before last christmas I was talking about self driving cars with my grandma. She didn't think that self driving cars could be possible, but I disagreed. I told her that it was quite likely that she would be able to see a fully self-driving car in maybe 5 to 10 years. Sadly she passed away recently due to lung cancer. I wish I was able to show her this video. It would probably amaze her just how far the technology has come over the past few years :)

I never drive in Comfort acceleration mode, because it is boring! 🙁 However, today I was driving in traffic, and I do not like how AutoPilot brakes hard and accelerates late and fast each time the car in front of me moves few feet away, do you? So I thought "what about switching to Comfort mode?". And wow! I was amazed! It is so smooth! So comfortable and relaxing in traffic jams! It feels like a human is driving. Hi mate, Im live in Plymouth, the building with the fins behind the hollow church (7:30) is drake circus shopping centre, the church was bombed during the war but left up as a monument. The building/wall/castle to your right at (10:10) is the royal citadel and was built to defend plymouth's main port in the 1600's it had at its peak 120 ish guns/cannons. at (12:04) the lighthouse is called smeatons tower this was an active lighthouse until the 1900's but was left as a monument to John Smeaton who designed it as he was apparently a revolutionary engineer in the light house industry?? not sure what that mean but there you are lol.

You should try using the right scroll wheel to reduce the autopilot speed all the way to 0 miles per hour for red lights then flick it back up when the lights turn green.

I think the problem with the bollards is that it sees it as cones, as we've seen with your previous videos it has no problem driving over them. The camera clearly doesn't see the 3D space around the bollard and the curb.

It is an outdated fact. City status can now also be granted by the Crown - such as Brighton and Hove in 2001.

You need the FSD package. It’s in the autopilot settings if you have it and it has options like nav on autopilot and lane changes

FYI, cities in the UK don't all have cathedrals. They did in England and Wales in centuries ago but no longer have to. A city is just a place the monarch/government decide to give the title city.

Amount of steering angle is limited (as well as lateral forces) and lane changes were also affect by the UN changes last year. And the proposed changes are even more restrictive so don’t hold your breath. I can see it getting worse for us in the UK :(

Kinda curious if the auto pilot logic in the car chooses the side of the road based on the location of where the car is at that moment or the configuration of the steering wheel. I know I am always posting critically. I know this is beta. I know that city driving is not in the Tesla lexicon at present. However: I didn’t count but there must have been 20 or 30 disconnects in this short drive plus many scenarios where the a/p couldn’t be engaged.

Yep. This isn't at even 50% yet, and 99% of a human driver isn't good enough. Also, the last 1% will take as long as the first 99%. Level 5 is several decades away, but hope springs eternal for something many drivers won't even want once they get it.

Darrin Brunner I don’t think level 5 - or perhaps 4 - is actually achievable with current technology. Yes, cars can and are being driven successfully in all sorts of environments, but that’s not good enough by a long way. To be viable cars at the level 5 point cars have to be capable of going anywhere, any time in any conditions. Safely, yes, but if they can’t handle every journey they can’t be released into the wild without drivers except in tightly controlled areas.

The software for UK and USA are obviously different since you need to drive on the left side in the UK. Furthermore is the UK (still) part of the EU which prohibits some self driving features

Those roads are super confusing and I will be shocked if an autonomous car can ever navigate something like that. I mean I thought my roads were bad but I never have to drive into oncoming traffic lanes (when marked with lines) to get by people and some of those lanes along the water were SUPER narrow. I think a tesla will work fine in north america where generally the road system is well defined and standardized but these type of scenarios I doubt a car will be able to handle any time soon.
