the gt5 is awesome because of the 4ws. but the best use of gt5 is the servo knobs. so you can independently steer the rear while steering the front at the same time. not a lot of transmitters have knobs so easily accessible

Thanks for making this review. I’ll be buying one. My scx has been in pieces for over a year because I wanted 4ws but then realized the stock remote was only full left or right and how impractical it was. Also couldn’t get it perfect straight. Your videos are great

I was a complete noob to the micro crawlers so there’s still some things I have yet to learn... that said, I’m about to start the 4xsteer mod and a little confused! I have the Furitek lizard in conjunction with the stock Esc. What will need to change to use this transmitter? Do I need the Tegu? You are my go to guy for everything SCX24! Keep up the great content!

So I purchased the micro crossover receiver and can not get it to bind to my flysky 5 and it's the flysky one

My micro receivers sometimes take a few tries. Turn the truck on first and then hold the bind button on the transmitter as you turn it on. If it don’t bind try again. That’s all I ever have to do. Usually binds in a couple tries and then it’s good to go. Hope that helps

Awesome video. I just picked up this tx/rx. I want to use the channel 3 set up to use the preset crawl mode. My question is how do I set the end points for the rear servo it keeps pushing even tho the wheels are at lock. I’ve set the front end points already but confused on rear points.

Make sure your steering servo is plugged into channel 1 and throttle/esc into channel 2

Hey Matt, been awhile since this video was posted. Had a question about the crawler mode on this controller, is there a way to change what channels the crawl mode uses? i love the control of having it on channel 6, same as you, but sometimes it would be convenient to be able to turn on the crawl mode sometimes. so was wondering if there is any way to change the crawl mode to basically take over channel 6 instead of 3. and then once you turn off crawl mode, it goes back to the knob.

No I haven’t. I actually just prefer the wheel. I’ve had a couple of those on other transmitters but I seem to do better with just the wheel. Some transmitters ya gotta have them though.

@@eddygarcia8814 you’ll need that receiver or a standard receiver of some sort either way. The lizard esc don’t have a receiver built in so you’ll need your own unless pairing it with a v1 Scx24 esc which can be used as a standalone receiver also.

I enjoyed the explanations of all the features, but I have one question: how do you use one radio on different rigs? After you set up your different profiles, do you need to bind it every time you switch to a different rig or is there a simple way around it that I am missing? Of course, I can bind all receivers to the one radio, but that would prevent me from also having another radio available for guests. Right now I use 5 different FSGT5s on my 5 rigs and every time I switch rigs I also switch radios. That means if I carry a spare truck on the trail I also have to carry the spare radio or re-bind in the field. And that is painful with some of the waterproof receiver boxes. So far the only simple way out I can see is to run the leads from the bind plug to an external switch to put the truck into "Bind Mode". I am still looking for a simpler solution, otherwise I really love the system.

No you’ll also need a new esc. The stock setup is a 2 in 1 setup. Esc and receiver built together. This has only a receiver. Let me know if you need anything else. We all started new at some point! Hope you’re enjoying the hobby!

Hi Matt, great tutorial. I also have the gt5 for my boat and arrma truck. I'm new to the brushed scx24, can I just remove the supplied rx and connect up the flysky rx instead? ie, do I just connect the motor / servo's etc direct to the BS6 and supply it with 5v using a dc buck? You can put the 4ws on either dial or you can put it on ch3 and cycle through the 4ws modes manually in the settings.

@@cncrcOG haha! I had an uncle that was always interested in Rc but never could really afford it when I was a kid. Then when I got older and got into it myself he finally picked him up a couple little zdracing trucks and ran with me once before he passed. He didn’t teach me that saying but you mentioning uncle made me think of him. Luckily I was able to get one of his trucks after he passed. I keep it up on the shelf and pull it out every once in awhile just to ease around with cause I don’t wanna tear it up lol. Gotta love the RC memories!

Cant remember if it even had a name I just remember it actually had a timer dial on it and it would ding a minute or so before it sent your batteries into the fiery void and had jumper cables for vehicle battery as power source. I bought the flysky gt5 and it came with a reciever but when I plug the motor in it just takes right off I didn't know if I need something like the lizard the gt5 doesn't work with the stoke scx reciever

@@donaldlapointe1902 the lizard is an esc. It can be used with the stock system which will basically just bypass the stock esc and use the stock remote and receiver. If you have the gt5 you can just do away with the stock setup completely and use the lizard with the receiver for it. The lizard is a good option. The Tegu is great also and once the lizard pro is available I would recommend it over both probably. You can’t go wrong with any of them though honestly.

My fs gt3c can do it off a switch where you thumb is, left rear middle 4 wheel and right front, up on top crab mode

Yeah I liked the gt3c. Only issue I ever had with mine was the power button in the wheel quit working. The wires broke off from the turning of the wheel. Soldered a new switch on it and moved it so it wouldn’t happen again lol

@@m111kca4 most of the time I use the gt5 or radiolink rc8x receiver with a Furitek esc. I have a gt5 that’s modded to have a wheel by your thumb to control rear steer. I rarely ever use rear steer though. I don’t like the extra weight and rear steering links hanging up on stuff.

@@ericnowakowski2016 what servo are you running? Sometimes a cheaper servo don’t center well and will go back to a different place each time and not center up. If it’s a cheaper servo I’d look into a better one.

the dumbo is a great device. but the flysky has way more adjustments that are easy with the screen and does multi cars way easier. a better comparison would be radiolink. i will agree though, the dumbo comes at a great price.
