Definitely need more Patrick videos. Actually gets out and does things to show us. These are the kinds of videos that'll bring you guys up to a million, which I hope happens soon. The other guy just sits at his desk and advertises products. It's like if a Reddit post was a video.

I wish that were true. Lee just released perhaps the most viral video we’ve ever made with his printer scam video. It’s gained way more followers and subs and have almost 1m views while content like this which I prefer has less than 10k views. At this point I have no idea why our followers love what they love 😂 -P

I immediately went outside to try these out! Those viral videos reached me before I got into YT photo. Exceptions are some old ones like the iPhone shoot, I found that on the channel sorted by popularity @@FStoppers

@@boostedmaniac The 'pro' type cameras also help, as an "all-access" pass. Size matters...
@boostedmaniac Жыл бұрын
@@UnconventionalReasoning agree. At those events walking around with a 200-500mm I don’t get questioned much in restricted areas. On the flip side, I got flagged once for photographing my daughter when she was 1 using a reflector my wife was holding at an outdoor mall. They asked me for a permit which I didn’t have. No iPhone users around me got flagged for essentially the same thing.

@@boostedmaniac Exactly. Size matters. Sometimes bigger is better, sometimes smaller is subtle. Knowing which size works when is key.

What's the difference between the fresnel and magnum in terms of look
@FStoppers Жыл бұрын
It’s really subtle outside but inside the shape of the shadow is a bit different. Both increase the power of the flash by something like 1.7 stops (don’t quote me) but since the fresnel is so much smaller I’d recommend it first in your on location bag. -P

Shooting in PR is great excepts it's always hot. On this particular day we had really bad Sahara dust so I was never able to do a super hard light shot with the sun because it was all kind of hazy. But yeah Old San Juan is amazing! -P

Does anyone noticed that stripbox reduces a little bit of power compared to regular softbox of similar size?
@FStoppers Жыл бұрын
That’s an interesting observation. I haven’t noticed it myself but maybe it’s the same power just distributed in a more narrow and wider area than a square Softbox? -P

You're getting hard light at 4ft away because it is a tiny softbox... not because its 4 ft away. Important note you missed.
@FStoppers Жыл бұрын
It’s still soft just not as soft. Soft light is a combination of distance and apparent size of light source. A 3’x1’ strip box is still relatively large even at 4’. -P

It says wedding photos. I just started watching the video and see only one person being photographed. Hope we can see the groom and not just the bride. I am a big fan of you guys, but don't like when the title doesn't match with the content.

It's 6 lighting tips for wedding photographers. Wedding photographers often have to shoot posed photos of the bride and groom and bridal shots of just the bride at every wedding. This is just a small tutorial on different lighting styles you can use when shooting bridal portraits but you can easily add the groom to these as well. -P

Really? Ask that to actual wildlife photographers, not the ones going to parts to capture birds in flight (nice, no shade, but comparable to wedding photography). Spend one week in the artic, taking pictures of wildlife risking your life. Ask war photographers. Wedding photography is great, and it's difficult because of the competitive space. Also, since the barrier of entry is so low we have wedding photographers that don't even understand how aperture work, but it's by far not the most chalenging.
@FStoppers Жыл бұрын
I didn’t mean it’s more difficult in terms of life risking or extreme temps, just in that you need to understand most every facet of photography to do it well. Wildlife photographers don’t need to use flash just as sports photographers rarely shoot at f8. The hardest single field of photography has to be underwater photography. It’s like macro meets wildlife meets limited mobility meets luck meets flash all wrapped up in one. Sports and war photographers obviously want to get the shot but all the ones I know at the highest level work in tandem and don’t have a specific shot list that must get covered or the client feels cheated. -P
